Question to all those people who grew up with milk deliveries: how the hell was it palatable or safe to drink milk that someone left sitting unrefrigerated on your doorstep? Did they arrive at the same time each day? Was there a cooler it was stored in? The idea of drinking milk that had been sitting outside in daylight always made me queasy and I wondered how this worked.

So how did the “knocker uppers” wake up on time…🧐

That's right soak that liver in lactic acid. Whole Foods has the best beef liver. Once a month since college I like calf, beef or chicken & onions. Or thin beef liver lightly breaded cooked in olive oil for breakfast. Get this calming feeling afterward

Tuna Melts are still quite common, and a favorite of mine, though I prefer sourdough to rye. The fish sandwich is also still quite common, though they've traded the breaded sticks for a more efficient breaded fish patty

Pretty much every puerto rican have vienna sausage in their pantry for yellow rice

Potlucks still happen all over the place here and casseroles are definitely a mainstay. I don't think either of those ever fell out of popularity.

I loved Sloppy Joes when I lived in the States (New Orleans) back in the 80s.

The elevator attendant still exists in old buildings in Chicago.

Knife sharpener still exists. Restaurants hire them.

Unfortunately, I have always detested the taste of bell peppers - green chilies and hot peppers are fine , oddly enough. But stuffed peppers, chicken a la king,& Philly cheesesteaks are not for me! 🤢

I always thought the proper way of doing beef fondue was with bouillion, not oil,& the resulting broth served as a later course...

They forgot to add bikes, because they can fall off and get hurt. Jump rope, because they can trip you. Rollerskates, because you can fall. That's why you need to bubblewrap your kids and never ever let them outside.

That Reggie bar could have stayed around, but now we have people running around who don’t even know who Reggie was.

I don’t care for calling food, “Comfort food”. Tastes good, satisfying., yes, but make me feel comfort? No.

We had milk delivered in the late 60’s… that beautiful cream at the top that Mom would whip into whipped cream. My mother sold Tupperware in the 70’s and 80’s… she sold a lot of it!!

K-Mart's in store Blue light specials were fun, I miss the store. I loved Woolworths store and their food counter served pretty good food. I grew up with these stores. Online stores still aren't the winners over these iconic stores.

Some of my favorite suppers, though were hotdogs with a choice of toppings, Louisiana, hot sauce, raw onions, chili, rated cheese, potato chips, crushed all over the hotdog. The other one was the meatloaf with a mystery filling like cheese. Grilled cheese was always what we ate while we watched Natasha Boris with Bullwinkle

I made my own ham spread by cooking a ham and then taking the leftover lean parts of the meat, mixing them with horseradish and cream cheese with the dash and mayo. This was all ways a huge hit at New Year’s. I always put it in a glass mold that was shaped like a wreath. You can’t use much wrong horseradish and you need to mix it because it’s very intense. I also ran the meat through a food processor so everything would be ground and easy to spread. I was always shocked and how people went crazy over it.

Pimento cheese had to have fresh garlic in it or it wouldn’t be pimento cheese

I’ve always had them with a little bit of bell pepper in them. Boy are they good!
