Norwegian Modelling Bench
Norway
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 พ.ค. 2022
Welcome to my channel, my name is Kenneth, and as the name of the channel implies; I live in Norway. I primarily like to build ship models in scale 1:200 and 1:350. I hope that some of the videos will be of interest, and hopefully spark some motivation and inspiration.
LHD-2 USS Essex - Part 1
In this first part of the build I am working on the hull, the well deck and hangar deck. I am also showing the build of the LCAC, where one of them have been placed inside the well deck.
It is far from a perfect build, but I hope that you can use some of the steps and sequence for your build.

ICM 1/24 Ford Model A Phaeton
มุมมอง 1.3K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Full build of the Ford Model A Standard Phaeton with Soft Top from ICM. It is in 1/24 scale, and I built a cobblestone road base to show it off. The Ford model A is an American passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1927. Its serial production began in the same year and continued until 1931. About 4.9 million copies of this car were produced in its course. The car, apart from t...

A skilled modeler can take on any thing and you sir are a skilled modeler.
Thank you 😊
That PE catwalk and rails looks F I N E !!! <(@ ! @)>
Thanks :-D
These ships were so much darker than i always pictured. In my head they were more like the modern grey. Neat.
True. The camouflage scheme was quite dark, and as I said in the video the colors seemed a bit "toy like ish", but it grew on me ;-)
Superb as always Kenneth.
Thank you :-)
Wow looks awesome!!! All that hard work paid off. 👍
Thank you 😁
Oh.....Yeah.... "Patience is Key!" Try 1/700!! Going to do this for my ESSEX-class vessel....one of these days ( PE from GMM ).
Sounds like an interesting project 😉 Good luck 👍
What is your opinion of Wild-3Ds quality control? Another YouYuber posted videos of his Wild-3D IJN Soryu and there appear to be fractures in the hull and flight deck warpage.
I had to get a replacement part for one of the hull parts as a part of the bilge keel was knocked off before shipping. They replaced it without any problems, but yes it should have been discovered before it was shipped. Otherwise I haven’t seen any issues, but let’s see when I get started on it.
@@NorwegianModellingBench Thank you for that bit of information. I did reach out to Wild-3D to let know of the issues with one customer's Soryu. They acknowledged the screen captures I sent them regarding the issues the other TH-camr was having. Wild-3D said that temperature variances during shipping can cause some of the fracturing issues that were noted in the builders videos, especially from overseas orders. They confirmed what you stated about sending out replacements for parts that are received damaged by the customer. I'm still on the fence about getting their IJN Soryu as the hull is in three sections and the aircraft are sold separately.
@@adamperry4347 Resin is definitely susceptible to temperature, so sounds plausible. I get why you are hesitant, and it is costly, but as a supplier I have found 3D-wild to be reliable at least, if that helps. Good luck!
@@NorwegianModellingBenchthanks again, I'm still undecided. On a side note, do you know of any manufacturer that produces resin LSO platforms for the 1/200 CV-6? Unfortunately the MK1 PE set I ordered didn't come with any or a wood flight deck.
@@adamperry4347 I'm sorry but I don't as the Pontos set had that included.
Beautiful work. ❤ I'm not familiar with the kit. Is it possible to build the elevator in the lower position?
Thanks 😊 Yes you can place the elevator in the position of your liking.
Incredible detail. Great craftsmanship. Another model to be proud of.
Thank you 😊
Great job! Can’t wait to see the aircraft on the deck.
Thanks 😊 Looking forward to that as well, but many hours of work left before I am at that stage 😅
The details are so well done! Great work!
Thank you Patrick 😊
Looks great. When is the build video coming out?
Thanks 😊 In a couple of weeks I assume.
My favorite warship of all time. Beautiful in design, function and history. Marvelous model. Mucho bueno!!!
It is an interesting object for sure. Thanks 😊
You did this phenomenally! great weathering, and the clear part was done as shoul dbe, and detailed.
Thank you, glad you liked it 😊
Good work
Thanks 😊
Fantastic work as always Kenneth.
Thank you very much :-D Happy Holidays!
Really nice but absolutely insulting at that price point. Also fails to address one of the biggest eye sores which is the deck itself. Just painting and weathering the nonskid surfaces isn’t enough, you need texture. I served on board USS Russell DDG-59 and I’m making my replica of her. I’ve made sandpaper overlays and weathered with washes
I can't disagree with you, but it is up to you if it is worth it or not. I am just showing what you will get. I have been thinking of the texture, so maybe you can give me some insight. Considering that this is 1/200 scale, would the texture be that visible. I have been playing around with some texture that is used for AFVs, but I am not sure that it gives a good impression scale wise.
ok, I could not get past 3 minutes in this video due to how many uhms and ahs. I would highly reccomend using an AI editor that gets rid of these automatically
Sorry that you would prefer AI over a real human… then I would recommend you to find another channel 🤷♂️
Wow, exceptional kit for the master modeler.👍👍
It is a great kit for sure 😁
Holy crap...you are amazing..you build like I did years ago and would love to go back too... But I'm dealing with really bad PTSD and cancer so I try and still do what building I can... Love watching you its just amazing... Who's jig do you recommend for the ships... I think 🤔 you showed one at some point in one of your builds...let me know if you can... bless you and Merry Christmas ⛄🎄...and Happy New Year 🎉...
Thank you for those kind words! I am so sorry to hear about your health issues 😢 I hope that you are able to enjoy some modelling. The stands from Andrew3d.net are really good. God bless you and your family too! Merry Christmas 🎄
Where can you buy this?
The Pontos ones are part of the LHD-2 USS Essex kit that you can buy in some webshops, the others you can buy from 3d-wild.com.
Ha Kenneth, I was able to finish the starboard side thank you so much for your tips and building video! Now I started to the portside.. greetings from the Netherlands
Hi! Glad to hear that the videos are helpful to you 😁 Good luck with the port side, and happy modelling 👍
Which VMS flexy?
I use VMS Flexy 5K for PE
What CA do you use ??
I use VMS Flexy 5K for PE
Looks great
Thanks 😊
Hello, Nice buy ! Does it work anyway on the uss pinckney ddg-91? It's flight ll AA and I see on the box that flight ll to lll seems included
I think it is a good buy, a bit expensive. It is not for the Pickney, as you say it is Flight IIa, which this particular kit is not for. I have heard rumors that HS models are working on one for DDG-91.
Building this as well because of your unboxing video. Could you share what size lights you are using in the well deck?
Nice 👍 I am building the catwalks as we speak. Hope you enjoy the build as much as I do. The LEDs I have used are SMD 0201, so 0.6mm by 0.3mm.
Outstanding content and presentation of the build! Question: how did you 'blacken' the portholes on the superstructure, did you paint the surface black behind the photo etch or ... thanks
Thank you 😊 I usually drill out portholes, but sometimes I just brush paint them inside.
Thanks, presumably the hull portholes on this build were painted..
Oh brother somebody's going to kiss the donkey
Excellent for car displays - thank you for sharing your techniques!
I think so, glad you liked it 😊
Now that you have bought the bunkerstudio's mh60 product, why don’t you try their detail-up set for the arleigh burke, I do think it's much better than hsmodel in details especially the 3D print parts.
I am not aware that they have one.
Looks like it is the same as YZM, which I have bought as well 😉
@@NorwegianModellingBench yeah, I mean just YZM, it seems that in america and europe, bunker's studio is YZM's agent
@ That makes sense. The quality of the 3D prints are good, but with a total lack of instructions.
@@NorwegianModellingBench That's true, i have discussed this problem with the designer, he said he just doesn't have enough energy to design a detailed instruction. YZM is just a small individual workshop, he has to do all the work on his own. Actually I have noted many ideas with him, some are problems with released model sets, I think he just too busy to finish all these works.
Hobby boss
Yes it is?
I wonder how the new Trumpeter kit will compare? Will Trumpy get the Hull wrong AGAIN?
I would be surprised if they did get it right 😉😂
