Got the Curtis Wilbur kit a few months ago and only found out about this set the day before you posted the video, going to be very hard to resist getting it...
Wow, what a set! Unbelievable detail. I don't envy you putting the mast together. Looks like a lot of video editing to remove all the obscenities. I don't even know how you would go about removing some of those from their blocks. One wrong clip and...PING! Gone forever!
In the 1980s I served on a ship equipped with the Vulcan/Phalanx weapon system. It was a stunning weapon when fired. Of course, the nickname the sailors had for it, due to its unusual appearance, was "R2D2 with a hardon".
@@NorwegianModellingBench thanks Kenneth. Recently purchased the Curtis Wilbur kit now time to get the HS Models upgrades. Looking to also buying the Michael Murphy when it’s released in the near future.
Hi Kenneth! First of all, I'm humbled by your incredibly kind words. Thank you! Excellent review of the HS set. I agree, the Seahawk is a bit of a disappointment with the closed windows. If I build another of these kits, I think I'll purchase one of these sets too. Have you decided which DDG you're going to build? I'm looking forward to seeing those videos! Thanks again!
Hi Patrick! It is well-deserved, and I hope that you get many more subs. I think it will be a great hyper-detailed model with this set, but a bit afraid that it might be too fragile. Let's see. I guess I will be really creative and go for DDG-54 😂 Looking forward to seeing you tackle that CV-5 as well. Good luck, and stay true to your attention for detail!
@NorwegianModellingBench I agree 100% on Patrick's videos! Superb! Also happy you're back. I was taken aback with the cost of the AM sets, but they are (YZM and HS) VERY comprehensive...
@@haraldsydness4902 Glad to hear that you agree 😀Glad to be back at the bench again after a long summer. The cost of these kits are at the extreme end, but sometimes you just see something you can't let go by 😅
I think it is a good buy, a bit expensive. It is not for the Pickney, as you say it is Flight IIa, which this particular kit is not for. I have heard rumors that HS models are working on one for DDG-91.
Hi Kenneth, just saw this flash up so thought I'd take a look.. I think it's a shame how much 3d printing is taking over.. for example, that mast would normally be mainly Brass and PE, which would require some careful assembly but wouldn't be broken by a glance of, as you say, a paint brush lol. I also wonder why all the barrels are printed rather than turned brass?? I think, when you compare this set to the Pontos Enterprise set,. which costs roughly the same, this is not very good value?
Hi Nige 😊 I totally agree, a combination of 3d print and brass would be better, but I wanted to give it a try. So let’s see if the parts will crumble in my hands 😳 You definitely get more fun PE assembly challenges with the CV-6 set, no questions asked.
Now that you have bought the bunkerstudio's mh60 product, why don’t you try their detail-up set for the arleigh burke, I do think it's much better than hsmodel in details especially the 3D print parts.
@@NorwegianModellingBench That's true, i have discussed this problem with the designer, he said he just doesn't have enough energy to design a detailed instruction. YZM is just a small individual workshop, he has to do all the work on his own. Actually I have noted many ideas with him, some are problems with released model sets, I think he just too busy to finish all these works.
Really nice but absolutely insulting at that price point. Also fails to address one of the biggest eye sores which is the deck itself. Just painting and weathering the nonskid surfaces isn’t enough, you need texture. I served on board USS Russell DDG-59 and I’m making my replica of her. I’ve made sandpaper overlays and weathered with washes
I can't disagree with you, but it is up to you if it is worth it or not. I am just showing what you will get. I have been thinking of the texture, so maybe you can give me some insight. Considering that this is 1/200 scale, would the texture be that visible. I have been playing around with some texture that is used for AFVs, but I am not sure that it gives a good impression scale wise.

I know the feeling. When I first saw the plans from HS Models, I knew that I had to to get this one 😉
Simply amazing detail
I totally agree on that point

Totally agree, it looks amazing on the supports. Removing them from the supports, adding them to the model and painting is going to be a challenge 😳
Nice to see you back🥳
Thank you 😊
Cool to learn a little about the detailing world. Thanks for the video. Amazing how much you can 'tune' your sets.
Edit: Gave Patrick a sub.
Great to hear 😊 You can indeed go ballistic on hyper-detailing standard kits 😉
Good to see you back. I wish you looked at the figures included. Don't see that often.
Thanks 😊 Sorry about that, maybe I can make a shorts on it later on.
Looking forward to this build.
Thanks 😊

I have seen some videos of the CIWS in action, quite impressive indeed! Now that was some nickname 😂
Your back!!! Missed you!’
Thank you, glad to have been missed 😊
hi there, great video and thank you for sharing. Can i please confirm this upgrade kit by HS Models covers both Flight I and Flight IIa?
Thanks, glad you liked it 😊 It is for the DDG51-71 and DDG72-78, so Flight I and II.

Interesting 👍
Indeed, one of the most comprehensive detail up sets I have seen.
Hello, Nice buy !
Does it work anyway on the uss pinckney ddg-91? It's flight ll AA and I see on the box that flight ll to lll seems included

That is one expensive set. All I want is the Seahawk 😂...it comes with figures as well?
It is for sure very expensive 😔 If you just want the Seahawk, then go to AliExpress 😉 Yes it comes with 25 figures
Does the kit include figures?
Yes, it comes with 25 figures.

I am not aware that they have one.
Looks like it is the same as YZM, which I have bought as well 😉
@@NorwegianModellingBench yeah, I mean just YZM, it seems that in america and europe, bunker's studio is YZM's agent
@ That makes sense. The quality of the 3D prints are good, but with a total lack of instructions.

$470 detail set for a $175 kit is a bit crazy
Even more than just a bit 😉
Some amazing details though. I guess it’s up to the modeller to decide.
It’s expensive kit 😢😢
Yes unfortunately it is very expensive 😔
