Lost a year head start over Genesis release due to ridiculous redesign, pack in game was terrible for North American market, lack of marketing, lack of licensing, NEC awful choices porting over from Japan, extremely short controller cord required extensions, required TurboBooster for AV out, required TurboTap for multiplayer which pushed price well above Sega’s Genesis at launch. I purchased both when they launched and while I enjoyed my TG-16 game releases were few and far between while the Genesis enjoyed more than triple games released in North America. It was very frustrating as a TG-16 owner back then.

I like this game but I'm sooooo extremely bad at it. I'm struggling to get 100 million points... And I'm lucky if I can catch 1 Pokemon before losing all my 3 try

I Never had one and recently bought everything 2nd Hand, so i could Play the Games i missed like Pokémon COL and XD. These Games feel more alive than the current Pokémon Games.

Only reason it sold bad it because the ps2 over took it and was much better. The gc was still a great console though and everyone who bought it would agree.

The gamecube was never a flop to me. I saw a demo of metroid prime at walmart and right then and there I knew I had to get one and I wasn't disappointed. Didn't care that it had no dvd player or if the discs were small. The library of games are great.

I own a Big Red Neo Geo arcade and own several game switch the cases. I have been selling my collection because I got a Mistercade that’s allows me to play all the Neo Geo games from the AES, MVS and CD. The games play flawlessly with no lag and perfect translation of the games. I can even play two players on two different arcades to play two or more players games. I can play Ninja Turtles 4 players on two or more arcades.

My 32x doesn't work with my Everdrive anymore. It will play whatever game is already flashed to the cart but if I try to load another game it comes up with an error message. The Everdrive still works fine when the 32x is removed and I just use the Genesis. Any ideas? I have cleaned all the slots and tried the 32x on multiple consoles with the same result. Any help would really be appreciated. 32x runs normal carts perfectly.

If Nintendo had made a handheld that could play actual GameCube discs ,they could have turned luck around , ,😸👍

I got my Jag for free around 1994. Nah, not that bad. AVP was on ok game. Had a couple of nasty bugs for game developers, and 3rd party support was not at required level. Now we know that it was tough time even for PS1 to succeed, so.. I think Atari could have been better off with something completely different. Nuon was a nice try, bought one of those while I was in Texas (2001)..

I just want to play a full game without all these online madness, where you buy a half baked game then have to download the rest, i play full local games don't care about online i I just want to complete my single players and play some multiplayer local too thats why i like Nintendo games back then today's games are not so fun.

The 64 bitness that is included was a hindrance to developers for the two token instructions that used it and their first actually true 64bit console is the Switch rebrand of the Nvidia shield.

My idea for the racing game chequered flag and F1 Racer should have been is to lower the graphical detail to not use textures and concentrate on 60fps with as few drops as you can manage. Use the rare Tempest style graphic mode to build a 3D engine with speed and precise collision detection with a refined physics engine at the expense of textures or gourad shading. Hire Geoff Minter to code with aid from Geoff Crammond to build a Crammond racing game entry which would suggest the system was better suited for simple 3D with tight game play and controls.

I would say a lot of things were not flops back then it was just exposure. Remember this is the late 1980s in the USA with no social media/internet just what you hear in your neighborhood or school and the Nintendo NES marketed it perfect back then in the country whereas PC Engine in Japan did fine in sales and was/is loved. Nintendo has always been more loved in the USA over other brands for the most part. Gaming as a whole was different 35 years ago. I knew one kid in school that had Turbo Grafx 16. Just one and I thought it was the coolest thing outside of Neo Geo AES machine. I didn't have an NES until late 1991 so I really was late to the NES compared to most kids in the 80's.

COMMENTARY: This really means a lot to me,the Genesis 32X is the most misunderstood console add-on the internet has ever been so harsh to. ⭕️ SPECULATION: In a last-ditch effort,Sega made the 32X to increase sales higher than the SNES,then that CD add-on instead became the PlayStation.

Pigmin, THPSUG, need for speed underground 2, resident evil 4, Tony Hawk's Pro 3,... still my favorite gamea for my cube over the years I have had the ram updated and the battery's redone a color scheme done and a ran replace but other then that still my favorite system to this day and I am 44

Huge lynx fan not a jag fan yeah id take NBA Jam Raiden Rayman but heres the issue those 3 games sre better on the saturn playstation anyhow. With that being said. Puts you back to square 1 of why bother at that point.

ps2 and xbox definitely overshadowed the gcn also the n64 a lot of people complained about because of the disc issue. and not straying away from cartridges. the gcn was my first console so itll always be my fav and literally every firstcparty gcn game is top tier

Amiga is overrated compared to the Sharp X68000.

Maybe the GameCube was hated back then simply because of Nintendo letting Microsoft buy Rareware in 2002, making many games soon-to-be on GameCube like Donkey Kong Racing and Banjo - Threeie cancelled and forgotten.

2:52 - those port are not proprietary. That's just a DIN connector. PC Engine uses mini-DIN.

Innovations for Nintendo consoles are not "innovative" for the time.

My cousin had one back in the day. It was the only one I ever saw. I was lucky to pick one up years ago before the prices got out of hand

Just like with Gen 6: the PS2 was the big winner, BUT it aged far poorly compared to its competitors. Hence why the Dreamcast and Gamecube are so coveted today in comparison.

I owned a Jaguar and Jaguar CD when they were released. The only redeeming feature of the whole experience, Tempest 2000.

Funny enough I exclusively loved the Gamecube during that era so much so I didn't care about PS2 or Xbox. It took being exposed to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for me to want a PS2 several years later, but even then and a few other games like True Crime New York City, Midnight Club 3, and The Sims 2, the Gamecube still was ultimately my favorite console. It was Nintendo's most experimental age and it really brought a lot of niche yet unique and outstanding experiences out of Nintendo's ips

I seem to remember the PC Engine being more expensive and it seemed like the games were more expensive as well. Most shops were pushing the Megadrive and Famicom instead. I only ever met one guy who owned the PC Engine. Everybody else were playing Megadrives and Famicoms.

Honestly, I've always found the Gamecube far superior to the PS2. Gamecube offered a more versatile and portable use to home gaming. If you didn't have many of the new releases, not to worry, Gameboy games covered that. PS2 real claim to fame in the time of its release was the capability to play DVD. It would be that feature alone that would help Sony sell more consoles to out do the competition of Sega's Dreamcast and the Gamecube.

Idk i always been a Nintendo person, i got my nes in 85, and stuck it out with them since, i think i owned a ps2, other than that the only other system i think i ever wanted was a neo geo, but ended up gettin a emulator for those games

GameCube was not a bad console when it came out it was more powerful than the ps2 affordable and a great library of games to play. It was just overshadowed by the internet functionality of the Xbox and dvd functionality of the ps2.

So underrated console!!! "Luigis mansion" -- best Ghostbusters game ever! "Metriod prime" -- is a pre-"Unreal"!!! So more cool as PS1/PS2 by games...
