Encar Woodworking
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 31 พ.ค. 2022
I design and create woodworking projects using the Vectric software (Vcarve Pro) and a CNC router (Onefinity, Journeyman).
I am new in this endeavor and I'm learning on the way. Some of the projects include American flag with embedded logos, catch-all trays with anime graphics, and various other wood carves. A lot of my anime inspired projects are inspired by my daughters. Essentially my channel is a vlog of my work, enjoy.

Eren portrait from Attack on Titan using the @OnefinityCNC and @vectric on MDF.
I decided to try my hand at a wall portrait. My daughter and I watch Japanese animation (Anime) and decided to do one of Eren in the anime Attack on Titan. I found this SVG on Thingiverse.com.
I used a crappy and disgusting piece of MDF just in case this went terribly wrong. This project was 34x20x.75 and carved with a single bit.
The entire project was carved with a 1/8 inch compression bit (SpeTool W02004 SC Compression Spiral 1/8" Dia x 1/4" Shank x 3/4" Cutting Length x 2-1/2" Long 2 Flute Router Bit)
I then sprayed the piece with flat black paint and primer
Enjoy!

Carved a Santa Monica Fire Cigar Ashtray using the @OnefinityCNC and @vectric
มุมมอง 15721 วันที่ผ่านมา
I was asked to make this Cigar Ashtray as a gift for someone. I used a 1/4 down cut endmill for the profile and roughing, For the cigar holder I used a 1" bowl bit, then a 1/8 endmill compression bit for the roughing of the graphic and wording. Lastly I used a 60 degree vbit for the wording and finer details, enjoy.
Carved a school plaque for my daughters band teacher using the @OnefinityCNC and @vectric on MDF
มุมมอง 176หลายเดือนก่อน
I finally was able to carve some wood after getting somewhat settled in. But due to the move my oldest will be moving to a new school and her band teacher will be teaching at a new school next year, so she wanted me to make her a plaque. This was a 1 bit carve on a piece of 12X8 MDF. I first sprayed it with paint and primer. I used a 90 degree vbit for the letters and graphics, enjoy! Paint and...

We are currently in the final days of escrow. Our realtors David and Heather have been wonderful to work with and I wanted to make them something they can give away to future clients. This was a two bit carve on 3/4 MDF. I used a 1/4 down cut endmill for the profile, boarder, and house cuts. I then used a 90 degree vbit for the lettering and heart. The ashtray was carved out of sapele which looks great with a oil finish. For the roughing and profile cut I used a 1/4 end mill down cut. The 3d toolpath I used an Amana bit #46282-K Tapered Ball Nose - 5.4 Deg Tip 0.0625, 0.25 inches. Then I finished it was tung oil, enjoy!

I have been behind in posting new content since we are in the middle of purchasing a home. Hopefully I do not get too behind in videos. Our realtor have been great in dealing with us so my wife wanted me to make a little gift for them. American Flag with 3D USMC Emblem made using the @OnefinityCNC and @vectric on MDF and Walnut

A customer asked to see if I would be able to combine the American Flag and USMC Emblem into one. This was my first attempt, which came out well but not perfect, in my eyes. The flag was 23x16 on mdf and it was carved with 90 degree vbit for the stars and 1/4 down cut endmill for the stripes. The USMC Emblem was carved with an Amana 46286-K Tapered Ball Nose - 3.6 Deg Tip 0.0625, 0.25 inches. T...

มุมมอง 18K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
I decided to carve the USMC emblem. I used two bits. I used 60 degree vbit and a 1/4 down cut end mill. I first used shellac to help hold down the oramask then proceeded to carve. I believe a new 60 degree vbit is needed as it did not cut the oramask cleanly and contributed to tear out, but I still had decent results, enjoy!

I was asked to make a 3D badge, which was going to be a retirement present for someone. The wood I used was sapele. Two bit carved with was a TBN bit for the 3D portion, then 1/4 down cut end mill for the profile cut. Finished with tung oil, enjoy!
Carved a Kitchen Conversion sign using the @OnefinityCNC and @vectric on MDF.
มุมมอง 3495 หลายเดือนก่อน
Made this sign for my better half. I only used two bits. I used a 90 degree vbit for the words and 1/4 down cut endmill for the border and profile cuts. I painted the MDF first then sealed with shellac. Doing this helps the oramask stick to the wood and helps with a cleaner cut, enjoy!
CnC carved an American Flag with a quote from Ronald Reagan using the @OnefinityCNC and @vectric

Made this American Flag out of MDF. This is a great quote from my favorite president. I used a 90 degree vbit for the stars and words, then a 1/4 end mill down cut for the strips and profile cut. CnC carved Whiskey Smoker using the @OnefinityCNC and designed with @vectric vcarve pro.

Since I know numerous people that drink whiskey I decided to make a whiskey smoker. Essentially this was a two bit carve. I used a 1/4 down cut endmill for majority of the carve and a 90 degree vbit for the graphic and wording. I should of made my flat depth a bit shallower to see the wording more clearly, but lesson learned. I finished it with mineral oil, which is food safe. This was easy to ...

Thanks for the kind words!
Wow1 that turned out different than i thought it would. Actually, while you were carving i didn't have any idea what it was. Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Some of us who actually handcarved the stuff are really going to lose money
Awesome work!!!
Thank you so much 😀
very nice...what finish did you use?
I used mineral oil for the finish. Thanks for the kind words!
Did you make file yourself and if so how?
I did not make this file. I was able to get it off one of the many FB groups I follow. Unfortunately I can’t remember which.
Great job looks great i have been carving a lot of cherry with my CNC I will have to try MDF again its been a while
I like MDF a lot since it is inexpensive, but it is hard on the bits. I appreciate you watching and the kind words!
Where did you get the file?
I got of off Etsy.
You could cut a piece of glass and put it in the bottom to preserve the carve. Pop the glass out to clean it dry put back in
Funny you say that. I’ve been thinking the same thing for these ashtrays so the graphic can still been seen. Thanks for the confirmation!
@@encarwoodworking just have to grind the edges a little. Should make them for cigars, just a wider groove.
@Mr.Peabody961 I can’t agree more, especially since I’m a cigar guy. But I purchased this file on Etsy and left it as is.
What’s the secret? I’ve tried shellac but I still get bleed through into the wood. Even after sanding the wood turns black, the paint is dry, shellac is dry. Nice work btw.
Yea it can be difficult. I also get bleeding even after using shellac or lacquer. I really can’t say for sure but I do sometimes do a deeper depth of cut so it allows me to sand more material, which allows me to get most of the bleeding
@@encarwoodworking what tooling and setup did you use for the words? 60 degree? .1 depth?
@Mr.Peabody961 I’ll check when I get home but it was definitely 60 degree vbit.
@@encarwoodworking thanks, appreciate it. Btw what fonts work for you I’m still struggling with finding ones that consistently look good.
@Mr.Peabody961 it’s tough to say. If I’m carving a file I bought from Etsy or got from FB I pretty much leave it alone. But if I’m making something from scratch I always go through the list to see what works. I also browse dafont.com and see what looks cool.

Very nice. The wood choice looks great. Do you sell the carve file or is it available online?
If I remember correctly, this file was available on the file section of a FB group. Unfortunately I follow quite a few groups so I can’t specifically say which. I really appreciate the kind words!
It's funny. The one you're working on isn't the one in the thumbnail. The thumbnail says 'Detective'. That's kinda weird.
The little thumbnail picture i have says detective on this video? My end shows exec director.
But I do have a totally separate video that shows a similar badge that says detective
Project looks fantastic. Semper Fi!
Orraah!
Nice, how much does something like that cost? Are you a LEO?
I usually charge $200 for it. I am not. I just have a lot of friends that are and ask me to try and make things for them lol. Thanks for watching!
I know your daughter will be as proud to give this as the teacher will be in receiving it. Nice project. Glad you've got settled in your new place.
Thanks Ron! Yea is slow going at the new place. As always I appreciate your support

I recently made a photo VCarve. Didn't come out anywhere near as nice, should have watched your video first. Well done, sir
Thanks you so much! It definitely looks better from afar but as you get close it is not as clear.
1:48 45 degree miter lines are visible near the corners. I suspect this is due to deflection of the bit
Thanks, look forward to seeing your content. I know exactly where you're coming from. Moving isn't bad, it's just the unpacking that's time consuming.
So true!
Good Job!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words!
To make that piece how much is it
Honestly I probably spent $25 on the hardware and the wood was bought bundled. If I had to guess probably around $45-$50.
Hey I will like you to make me one and the size I am looking for is 36” by 20” and how much will it cost
@NOVA1967-bx2ke I would love to but my CnC is disassembled due to moving into a new location. It may be awhile before we get settled in and be back up a running, terribly sorry 😢
Thank you, we have learned a lot from you...we can feel your passion in explain your content about CNC router project in detail..Great job!! ☺🧡

That was amazing work can you do a video explaining your set up up
I’d love to but I’m currently in the middle of a move and will be behind in videos unfortunately. But I’ll keep it in mind when I get back up and running. Thanks for the kind words!
Was that done with just one blade? Amazing!
It was done with two bits. First was with a 1/4 end mill for the profile cut then a tapered ball nose for the 3d cut. Thank you for the kind words!
How long did the carve take? And .25 Depth of cut for what? The profile?
This took approximately 1 hour and doc was for the 90 degree vbit.
I am an old Marine and I have an Avid CNC. Would it be possible to get a copy of the G-code you generated? Thanks in advance for your help. Good video.
Ooorah! I tend to clear my thumb drive of the G codes but I’ll try to find if I have it.
Thanks sir!
Any luck for a Salty Dog?@@encarwoodworking
@@encarwoodworking Just in case you ever want to do it because you deleted your files of your thumb drive, you might want to know that you really didn't and they can be retrieved. You can think of it as putting your foot in the mud. Your foot may not be there anymore but your foot print still is. It easy to google the code...or it used to be anyway.
@iwannaapple7190 that’s good to know. I’ll try to hunt it down that way
Just curious are you happy with your dust boot and who makes it?
To be honest I would have went a different one. The little screws vibrate out often. The brand is dustimator.

What feeds and speeds for the EGA?
I don’t think it’s ideal speed and feed but I ran it on 100 inch/min and whatever setting 3 1/2 is on the Makita router. The Ega is essentially 8x9 1/2 and took approximately 4 1/2 hours. Hope that helps a little, thanks!

I thought it was a cool design as well. Thanks for watching!
Good one👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm trying to do something almost exactly like this. Yours came out great. I've been struggling a little. Is that indeed poplar? Ive been trying to use MDF, but where my letters were very thin, the blue tape didn't hold very well the cuts in that area didn't end up very clean. I've been using a complicated scheme that uses a dedicated waste board with 1/8 dowels securing the final pass. It's very time consuming and comes off the machine with way more sanding than I expected. How much time did you have to spend sanding? Did the rigidity of the poplar (as compared to MDF) help the blue tape-superglue? Was that 3/4 inch material? And I assume that was an up-cut bit you used? Sorry for the barrage of questions. Thanks for taking the time to post!
I usually would use MDF but, like you stated, the thin parts would have been the issue, which is why I used poplar. I did have to sand a little due to my bit being dull, but not too much. The wood was 1” in thickness and the bit was a downcut. The sander I used worked well on the back side of the project. Thanks for watching and hope I helped a little.
Beautiful piece and great idea. I'm sure your realtor will love it. Love to carve with poplar. Thanks!
Thanks Ron! Appreciate the kinds words.
THANK YOU! I've been scouring TH-cam to figure out the cigar "rests". I knew it was simple but could not get my head to figure it out - th-cam.com/video/MA_4JO2_fbs/w-d-xo.html. - 2 seconds of your video answered my question! Great job!
Wow, I am happy that that one of my videos helped out! Everything I’ve learned was from this great community from YT university. Thanks for your kind words and for watching!
Great job. Did use Aspire or an STL for the 3d cut?
I had some make the Stl since I use vcarve pro. I want to get aspire and learn to make the 3d myself but not quite sure though
Nice job may I ask what your flat depth is?
Looking back at the file it looks like if didn’t set a flat depth on the 90 degree vbit I used. Thanks for watching!
