Thanks for the good and honest review. It definitely seems like a collector camera although I was impressed with the quality of the auto exposure and I do like the size.
@andyl4565 Thanks for watching! Yes the camera is a little jewel and in many ways, it's still worth it for many reasons, the lens, the auto exposure, etc. If this was thirty years ago, it would be totally recommended but today one has to take into account that Minolta no longer exists, the lack of repairability and the high cost not to mention the amazing camera choices we have now. I appreciate you leaving a comment thank you!
@@cameralegend1033 I may look for something similar but for less than the Minolta.
Wow, that's a tiny camera. How come they don't make those now?
@@numbersix8919 Hi Number Six! Sorry for the late reply. It's an amazing camera but time, aging electronics, and high prices make it not such a great buy today. It was quite expensive to make back in the day and there's not much demand for it these days, plus Minolta is out of the camera business which explains why they don't make them today. Hope you're having a great weekend thanks! 😍🙏👍
@cameralegend1033 Thanks! I played around with the Pentax 17 in a store. It's so nicely built...then I looked at the controls. Is that photography? What is that?
@numbersix8919 Hey cool! As for the controls, yeah it almost seems like controls from an alien spacecraft! 😂📸👍
There's a shop in taiwan/thailand i forgot that would repair this! Someone on reddit recently posted the info, ribbon cable replacement for the motor and they said it was between 200-300 usd for the repair (including return insured shipping the requested)
@@henry2941 Thanks for the heads up! I'll look into it. I might be going to Thailand again this year, and if it's in the Bangkok area that would be awesome. Appreciate the information, thank you!
Hey hey, hey hey! What you got there, it looks like a point and shoot Leica!
Hey awesome Number Six!! It's a Leica Minilux 😍 I've had it for years actually. Haven't used it in a while and wanted to make sure it was still working cause these cameras are prone to an "Error" issue but still running, knock on wood! Have a great weekend! Thanks for dropping a comment, I appreciate it as always!! 🙏📸👍
I love my Nikon F!
Same here 😍 I'm in good company! 📸👍
ccd - cmos episode: yes, please!
@@ThomasL.116 Thanks! The CCD vs CMOS thing has been on my to do list for a long time but just like "film vs digital" it's a topic that has many layers and many opposing opinions. As seen by some of the comments on this video I nearly got killed for saying this camera "killed" film 😂 So I'm just trying to figure my approach before doing a video on this. Thanks for your input it is well noted. Thank you!!
@cameralegend1033 Thanks! It seems that people tend to have difficulties in hearing opinions which are different from their own...
@ThomasL.116 That is the TRUTH!! Amen!😍🙏👍
Hi! For repairs you could look into Fototech in Poland or Awayrepairs…the latter actually reverse engineered the flex cable on the TC-1 and they are being made brand new as I type this out! I just bought a TC-1 after wanting one for a while because I found my 28Ti to be too chonky / brick-esque in shape. Luckily the TC-1 I bought is in mint condition, pretty much brand new and I got it for only $850. Such a steal compared to eBay listings. I’m super excited to receive it and hopefully make it my everyday carry camera!
I wonder if this camera was on Firmware 1.05
@@Fabeyon1027 Good question! I just checked. The firmware is 1.02. I should probably update it but as far as I know it results in faster operation but no IQ enhancements. I'm only hesitant for fear of messing up such an old camera with a firmware update but thanks for bringing it to my attention. If I update it, it will be because of you, thank you! 🙏🙏👍
@@cameralegend1033 Yeah I saw someone do a firmware update and they say it performs faster! It’s on TH-cam and I plan on updating mine once it arrives some time this week! If you do update it, would it be possible to do another video on it?
@DBDHeLlSKiLLeR @DBDHeLlSKiLLeR I was thinking of doing a video on street shooting with the TVS Digital so if I did another video on it, it would probably be in that context. But I would mention the firmware update if I do it. Make sure your battery is completely charged up and take precautions before you update it. Nothing worse than bricking a camera as soon as you get it! Keep me posted on how goes once you get the camera. Good luck and have fun! I've grown to love and appreciate the camera more and more over the years 😍🙏👍
@ Updated my TVS Digital to 1.05 and the operating system does feel a bit faster!
@Fabeyon1027 Hey thanks for sharing the news! Gives me confidence to do it, thanks much, and man that was fast!! 😍🙏👍
Have you messed with the digilux 1 any opinion?
@@unbroken1010 I have used the Digilux 1 and its Panasonic sibling the LC5. Both are nice cameras too! Sharp, nice color. But what I noticed is that the files appear "thinner" or more "fragile" probably due to the slightly lower resolution, as expected. The best thing about the Leica version is the funky looks!
Makes my modern camera look very old fashioned
53 sensor onwards is fine. You can find them online still just need to be careful.

happy new year Sam, hope you and yours well. I went to a local stores camera museum. sad sight. dozens od cameras, lenses that will never take a frame, again; that were once oriudly used by pros making a living, or prize posession of hobby phphotographher. its good you remind us of these steps in photo history, in an enjoyable way. T opcon and Konica, missing, tho. ), maybe not significant enoughm tho.remember ogling a Miranda Sensorex, intrigued by an Alpa 11. The D200 was a great camera, it’s what I started with.
@@tomallen6073 It is indeed a great camera! Maybe more beloved today than it was then. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
11 mpixels and full frame in 2002! Is it any wonder? Nikon was a full 3 years later. The digital takeover was as rapid as CDs taking over LPs. Tower records went from LPs to CDs in one year. The camera show at Javits went from film to digital in the same time interval!. But the pro switch is as you have said. As usual a very informative and educational video!
@@frankbosco293 Always great to hear from the legendary Frank B!! If anyone would remember those days, it's you Bro-Meister 😍 I'd still love to get you on one of these episodes, the world has got to know the LEGEND of Boscodamus! Regards to Mrs B and the family and Happy Holidays 😍❤️👍
This is the best, most honest review of the Minolta TC-1 on TH-cam bar none! I really think more people should be watching this, you have my vote.
Thanks for your kind words 🙏🙏 Yes I wished more people would watch but TH-cam is what it is. Some videos get decent views and some of the better ones lag. I'll keep doing my best thanks for watching I appreciate you! 🙏❤️👍
I owned one of these years ago and I loved it, it took some of my best snaps and street photos, but ultimately it was too finicky and uncomfortable to use, and I sold it before the prices sky rocketed... In this class as far as actual use goes the Ricoh GR1 is my favorite.
@@TheCameraCase Thanks for sharing your experiences! It echoes my experience with this camera too. A jewel like camera in looks, uncomfortable and fidgety in use, but great results. Appreciate your comments!!
Thanks for this awesome review and your thoughts. You are one of my favorite TH-camrs and Camera related even THE BEST by far! I just love the authenticity and genuinity of your videos. The TC-1 was completely new to me since I've seen it on your channel. Thats where the desire began. Now months later and still waiting for a review, I randomly came across a TC-1 yesterday for sale. After opening youtube that day I saw your review Upload and the timing could'nt be better. Turned out Im a Hardcore Camera Geek who takes a gamble. Now you sold me a second time after the M9M..
@@insaneu @insaneu Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate you watching and congrats on the TC-1 😍 Should it be a good working model, you'll have a true Camera Legend on hand! You my friend are a true HARDCORE camera geek and I say that in the highest complementary way! Continue on your Camera Legend journey and no doubt you'll land an M9M when the time is right, just like you did with the TC-1. Have fun and I appreciate your comments, it makes it all worthwhile. Thank you! 🙏📸👍
@ I appreciate your words! I already bought the M9M after your review back then and this thing is my true Nr.1 But regarding the TC-1 things took a turn. The seller found a defect on it before shipment and refunded me. I guess I should save up for a black TC-1 then haha. Anyways keep doing your thing and bless you!!! :)
@insaneu Ah man if you already got the M9M everything else is icing on the cake!! I'm sorry to hear about the TC-1 situation but yeah you're right, a nice black TC-1 would help nicely! 😂 Even if you land on a good old silver one, you'll be gold 👍 Keep me updated I'm thankful for true hardcore camera geeks like yourself who actually watch! Thank you! Take care my friend, Happy Holidays to you and yours 🙏📸👍
Great video. I agree with you Sam on the value proposition of this lovely relic. While it has a nicely sharp lens wrapped in a uniquely designed ultra-fashionable body, the electronic mechanisms make it too sensitive to be an everyday carry point-and-shoot. I really wanted one for a while but ultimately decided to buy three other cameras for the same price as one TC1. One of the cameras I purchased was the Yashica T3 (Kyocera T Scope) it is the bulkier, uglier older brother of the T4 but let me tell you the Carl Zeiss T* Series Tessar f/2.8 35mm lens more than makes up for any cosmetic deficits it may have. I took it on a trip to Thailand and it held up well, it is mostly plastic and the lens is fixed so fewer moving parts means fewer failure points. It delivers and I feel it will last but if it eventually breaks my financial loss will be bearable vs the joy it has brought me. I also acquired the tiny stealthy Olympus Mju II which is somewhat weather-resistant and almost fits in my pocket. There are some great film cameras readily available. But there will be one I will never stop lusting after and that is the Fuji Klasse with its sharp Fujinon 38mm f/2.6 lens. I would love to own one. Maybe one day.
Thanks for your thoughts and experiences Stephen! I have the Yashica T3 as well and agree with all you said about it. That bulky plastic body has been quite durable and the lens is great! I had the Rollei 35 AFM years ago, it is a rebranded Fuji Klasse and it was fantastic. If you can get either they are awesome cameras! Thanks much for leaving a comment and sharing your experiences, I respect your opinion and appreciate it! 😍🙏👍
Thanks for the info! Those are really nice photos. If you have an Olympus Pen? please do the thing on it man. You know the thing. I think the Pen philosophy still makes sense today.
