People are so obsessed by bigger sensor they forgot to check for little beast like the EM5. Upgraded for its bigger brother and love this camera. Made of metal, crazy good handling, and of course the IBIS is nuts.
@@housemusic325 IBIS on the Olympus bodies is absolutely phenomenal! Add that to the touch focus and you have a potent combination. Thanks much for sharing your experiences, I love to hear it!
I had one of these and absolutely loved it until it had focusing issues. It went back to Olympus three times for repair but each time it came back they didn't fix it. On the final trip in they kept the camera for three months and sent it back damaged. My camera store went to bat for me and got Olympus to completely replace the entire thing under warranty. I still have that replacement body and it still works. I then got an E-M5 II which went completely dead after thirty days and something like 100 pictures. Based on my previous experience with Oly repair I returned the entire thing and switched to a different brand. It's really too bad because the image quality was amazing and it was such a small package.
That’s a real shame, my experience with Olympus was always exceptional. Repairing cameras that I had abused. Recently sent my E-M1 II for service and repair of the screen which I had knocked loose. One Friday, I posted it from UK to their Portugal service centre, the next Friday I got it back!! They also replaced the top and bottom plates, rubber grip and eyepiece. It now has 312,000 actuations and is almost like new. Awesome camera, awesome service
@@larryloesch3531 Thanks for sharing this real world account. I'm sorry to hear of the issues you had but I'm not surprised. I think the failure of my unit after only 5-6k shots left me with a bad taste, especially since I don't usually buy a camera brand new but I did with this one. Perhaps it was a first generation issue but their quality and testing control definitely were suspect. I appreciate you taking the time to document what you went through. It made me realize that even if I had paid Olympus for the repair, it probably wouldn't last. I appreciate your comments very much thank you!
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I'm glad you didn't have the shutter issue I guess it wasn't a wide spread thing. Appreciate your kind words thank you! 🙏❤️👍
2012! It was that long ago. I recall it well at the NY Botanical Gardens. The beautiful shots here certainly illustrate the capabilities of the OM system.
@@frankbosco293 Bro-Meister! Great memory you have! Those were beautiful times man, I miss it a lot. Hope all is well with you, Mrs. B, and the beautiful family 😍 Thanks for the kind words, we gotta get you on camera! 👍
I have shutter problem before with my PEN EPL2 and i just snuck both of my finger on both sides of shutter blade. Then I tried to push them back without tounching the sensors and clicking the shutter button at the time and it works. it functioned the way it was like before.
@@mullertalattad6686I thought I had tried everything but I didn't do the both sides thing that you mentioned and I was able to get a clear view of the shutter for the first time in years! Sadly, my issue seems very stubborn and it went right back to where it was but I'll keep playing with this and see if it helps. It's a little progress at least. Thanks for the useful tip, I really appreciate it!!
@@marcp.1752 I believe you! Maybe because it was a first generation product or whatever it was, these cameras were fine imagers but not very robust. Mine died too, as mentioned in this video. Only 5000 actuations!
@@cameralegend1033 Yes, mine wasn't much >7.400 clicks only...and the Shutter is another story. Fine DSLM, but product quality here wasn't the best, into 2012.
I had the original EM10 forever & recently thought to upgrade to this EM5, but it just didn't feel quite right in my hands. Ended up buying a cage for better grip but in the end I sold it & got an EM5ii which is perfect! Also just picked up an em10ii & being a feel for it. Such underrated cameras!
@@JonMadd Absolutely right about them being underrated cameras, they totally kick a**! 😂 Thanks for sharing your experiences with these great cameras I appreciate it! 😎🙏👍
Wearing sunglasses is OK if you're "cool." So you are covered, sir. Hey! You got my camera! It does the most amazing things. My only serious complaint: it's heavy for its small size.
@@numbersix8919 @numbersix8919 Thank you awesome Number Six! You my friend are the coolest! And hey if this is your camera then that tells me you're up on your cameras. And how cool is that?! 😎 It is heavy for its diminutive dimensions but I can appreciate the quality build. I appreciate your comments as always! 🙏🙏👍

Mine gave up the ghost, sadly the display went dark, despite all tricks, never turned on again. It's toast. Sad, but true.
