I love the images from my older ccds that look so lovely like analog , vinyl, film and nothing like cell phone pics which look fake like video games and high frame rate films like avatar or Gemini man. My mind records memories as filmic and not at all like HDR or HFR. Pics you shot of your family tap into those moments so beautifully. Well done Sam!
Thanks Stephen! We seem to have traveled the same roads with a similar mindset when it comes to our analog/digital lives 😍 Appreciate your comments and consistent support of the Camera Legend project. A big THANK YOU!! 📸🙏👍
By the way, you're one of the folks who got me off my lazy ass 😂 to do this video by leaving a comment on my TVS Digital shorts so I want to give a shout-out to you and say thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
I've had one of these for about 15 years and it still looks great and works well. The pics are very good. I've got a good few modern digitals and unless you buy a good one, you'll not improve or equal the quality of pics that the TVS can do. It all comes down to the lens which is amazing. The charm is in the build quality...it's a beautiful thing and people notice the camera and ask about it. If you want to look cool and aren't bothered about taking pics the size of a building, try and buy one. Recently, these have been changing hands at up to a £1000....so, you are in competition with collectors.
Appreciate the kind words! Yes there’s a Sepia & BW Mode in the camera. I believe only the Mini Cooper shot was in camera, the rest of the b&w shots were processed. I tend to shoot this camera in color just because the color reproduction is so nice then convert them later but I may let the camera do the bw if I do another video. Hope this helps and appreciate you watching thanks!
@@Fabeyon1027 Good question! I just checked. The firmware is 1.02. I should probably update it but as far as I know it results in faster operation but no IQ enhancements. I'm only hesitant for fear of messing up such an old camera with a firmware update but thanks for bringing it to my attention. If I update it, it will be because of you, thank you! 🙏🙏👍
@@cameralegend1033 Yeah I saw someone do a firmware update and they say it performs faster! It’s on TH-cam and I plan on updating mine once it arrives some time this week! If you do update it, would it be possible to do another video on it?
@DBDHeLlSKiLLeR @DBDHeLlSKiLLeR I was thinking of doing a video on street shooting with the TVS Digital so if I did another video on it, it would probably be in that context. But I would mention the firmware update if I do it. Make sure your battery is completely charged up and take precautions before you update it. Nothing worse than bricking a camera as soon as you get it! Keep me posted on how goes once you get the camera. Good luck and have fun! I've grown to love and appreciate the camera more and more over the years 😍🙏👍

Another cool exposition of a special camera. You are the man. Only Canon and Sony make true compact cameras now but the IQ has lost its flavor. Thank you for all you've done over the last year. Please keep us in mind again next year. And do have a very good New Year in 2023! 🎆✨🎇
Thanks Number Six for your comments and kind support! Very well said about how today’s IQ has lost its flavor 👍 I certainly always have you and every viewer in mind when making these videos! Thank you 😍🙏👍
@@tooltool5824 Sorry indeed! I should have said small-sensor advanced compacts. But it would be nice to have the Fuji and Nikon full frame compacts back too.
I think it's a true great. your reviews are great, cos a range of photo subjects taken. its hard to take Abbad photo with it, unless your composition is poor hands shaky. after Kyocera uk closed its camera biz, I spoke to team that took over(for a while), they told me they noticed much fewer problems with Japan-built contacts. the Finecams were built in china. I have an s5, performance is not as good as the TVS-D, built in Japan - I can't fault it. th,best T camera, more than the sum of its parts, tho it has some good ones - superb lens, integrintegrated flash, extruded titanium body parts, not coated, painted, plated, pressed-out - super smooth finish. 2GB card means 2000 highest-quality jpegs.price new about same in 2024 $ terms, in 2002, as Leica Q3 is now. a newer version, with updated sensor, would compete well, with real optical zoom + digital zoom, keeping form factor and ergonomics.
Appreciate your comments and insights! In my view it a a true great in my collection but I was speaking to how it may be viewed down the line but hopefully I'm wrong. I still have the Finecam S5 the Kyocera version of the TVS-D and haven't been able to use it in years simply because I just can't get the battery for it. It's unusual that Kyocera did not use the same battery from the TVS-D. Anyway you're right, a great Contax is more than the sum of its parts. That's why I'm a super fan. Thanks for watching and appreciate your comments!
@@heliopijpe In the video I said this camera has always been a little underrated because it's always been a bit overpriced and this was even before it was hyped up, so I agree with you!
Always happy to see a new Camera Legend video. Best wishes for the new year!
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching, Happy New Year to you and yours!
Contax TVS is the best digicam ! So cool, I wish it still existed today. I wonder what a 2023 version would look like.
I agree! Imagine this with a 20mp sensor and some refinements? Some big name company should revive the Contax brand. Appreciate your comments thanks!
Fantastic and informative video as always ! 👏👏👏

It's too expensive, due to the hype. For many years now. There are much better alternatives, even from Leica. At this price.
