I’m just a guy that loves working with his hands. A builder/remodeler by day but also I love to play with our off-road Jeeps on the side. From bending metal to setting tile its my life and I love it. I hate the term “Jack of all Trades” because that term typically means your not an expert in some trades but rather mediocre in most of your work. Some of us want to push ourselves to understand other lines of work. I will take on nearly anything if it interests me so follow along as everyday is a new adventure.
Client said she paid for our new Dump Trailer
We are rebuilding our lean to that attaches to our shed. Maximizing the space was an absolute requirement when rebuilding so that everything fit perfect. While working we got into a discussion over past clients that made crazy comments. So here a couple stories are.

Flush trim 1/4” Router Bits…WhiteSide, YONICO and Bosch
มุมมอง 51618 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
We purchased two new router flush trim router bits and we wanted to see how they compared to the Bosch bit. The new router bits are manufactured by WhiteSide and YONICO. Their both 1/4” upswept double bearing bits. We used a Makita 40v 1/4” router as our test bed and we we’re really surprised by the results. The wood was 5/8 plywood. Essential Craftsman and Dave Ramsey rejected by this Contractor
มุมมอง 78114 วันที่ผ่านมา
This video is in response to Essential Craftsman’s video as to contractors buying new trucks. I do agree with most of the comments made by Essential Craftsman but I give an alternative view as to the old versus new truck argument. Dave Ramsey is also quoted later in his video and I give my response as a contractor concerning Mr Ramsey. Essential Craftsman’s video. th-cam.com/video/5_9_s0Hz4yE/w...

I like the Bosch
Got to pull first
If it was Titanium it would have cut on its own
I could understand the argument against a titanium saw for a classic saw blade. Sharpening it would be impossible. But for the newer tooth design, end users aren't intended to sharpen them, so a titanium blade would extend the lifetime of the saw.
Steel holds a better edge then titanium. Titanium is good for lightening tools. Plus titanium doesn't rust. It would be better to have a titanium bonded steel saw. But I coming at this from someone who specialize in knives so I could be wrong about saws. Maybe the work hardening property of titanium would be good for a saw.
Why would you mark it then ?
The first two steps (pencil and awl) were a joke with that self centering drill bit.
i think they shake to much i got my boss to a Fein cutter instead much better
So what do you do when not working? Leave tools in the car? In the street or driveway ? Out in San Francisco, they may last a few minutes but not longer .
I’ve seen the videos and that is messed up. Can’t even imagine working in that environment, please as a contractor hold your clients responsible and adjust your bids for having to work in such a hostile place. Most of these people voted for this and our work is hard enough let alone a fool taking our lively hoods. Stay safe and work smart.
Two steps too many
Not on the Eastern shore of md everyone is slammed bussy
The only homes really being built here are track homes and they have slowed down considerably. Another thing that could be compounding the issue is we’ve had a hugh in flunk of contractors from other states that moved here. Cali, Michigan, Florida and believe it Texas are a few of the states contractors because they heard we had more work. We will see.
Based on that first clip this thing doesn’t work very well.
Just bought these today at work. I work at an electrical supply house. Love it
That shed ain't going nowhere.
We never work on anything this small. Kinda easy to overbuild things.

Did you seal the brick first? If not did it yellow after time?
Good video
So, one thing nobody seems to mention: just like with a reciprocating saw, whe you saw back and forth with it, you are making it take longer. The saw is already doing the sawing motion. When you use a sawing motion you are counteracting some of the strokes the saw is making and delaying the time the cut takes. The saw is designed to do the work for you.
I liked your comment because I’m glad you mentioned this and not for being correct. If you want a straight cut as opposed to a stepped cut you will go back and forth, thats the 1st reason to do it. 2nd is to not over heat the wood and set fire alarms off. Clients with smoke alarms linked with the fire department don’t particularly like it when the red trucks come rolling up. Oak, hickory for that matter most hard woods will do just that with our the sawing method. 3rd sawing will help with material not being trapped in the cut as much. We cut hardwood mainly so this is a must to get a good result both with that being said I agree with you when cutting pine or soft wood in general just jab it through.
@campbellbuilt no i totally get sweeping it across the material to establish a line or prevent build-up. I just mean that the rapid sawing motion isn't necessary and slows the progress of the cut. No offense intended. I did the same thing when I first started using reciprocating/oscillating tools. ✌️
@ModernGentleman so I knew you weren’t being rude, a lot of times I looking at the users name to determine if their comment are sincere or argumentative. Trust me you will start looking at names now 😀. I’d have to go back and watch the video but I can guarantee why he was cutting that way was out of habit and thinking we were on the job site. Thanks for leaving these comments friend.
@campbellbuilt you're right now I'll always be looking for username/profile pic clues 😄✌️
It’s a very good brand
06:10 tracksaws do kickback sometimes and can cut your fingers behind the saw. Especially when the machine has no riving knive and no anti kickback. Just mentioning this for people beginning with woodwork. Ps thanks for the video. Sending this one to a friend tk explain what i meant. But will point out no fingers behind tha saw. Or his wife will be so pissed at me 😜
Of all the years running this saw wood pinching the blade and stalling is more of a concern than kick back. Yes a riving knife would be nice but not necessary on a track saw in my opinion. On the other side I would never run a table saw without one. I recently switched to the Makita 40v saw and at that time weighed the options of that versus the Festool (which has a riving knife). Their comparable on price that is the Makita 40v to the Festool cordless. It came down to already having to many battery platforms and I went with the Makita.
Well said 👏👏👏👏👏
Yes Sir
Used anti fatigue mat for my tracksaw padding - you cut also have a little cut out on the bottom side of that for blades
I believe we’ve used the same mat as what your saying. The hole cut out is genus. Great idea.
@@campbellbuilt looks like it I like the setup up. And the vids Appreciate you guys
@@meandmyoldschool8596 thank you Sir, Glad to have you here
Axman's brother? Nice setup man.
Thanks
Whiteside!!!
Yes I know it’s not entirely fair to Bosch and it not being the same size as the other two but I didn’t have a 1/4” Bosch. Bosch 5/16 was the smallest I had.
Seeing this garbled mess of a truck with all that Makita crap is the funniest skit I’ve seen on YT! You must be a handy man.
I made this video just for you 😀

Pelican x Armstrong 0450. Find em on gov liquidation sites. Sometimes you can even buy em packed with armstrong tools! Snap on has a competing version but they don’t lifetime warranty their industrial/army stuff or sell replacement parts to fix it. 🥂
That’s interesting, but we all know the government spares no expense.
yeah no. packouts are convenient. not everyone wants to make some cobbled together mess of wood that only hits in one vehicle.
Their toys for children 😀
Yeah no packouts belong in a landfill or somewhere they can neatly be recycled to manufacture an electric car buddy.
As a mobile mechanic packouts are a gamechanger especially when doing jobs in the city where my fullsize service rig just isnt realistic
I get it, pack outs would be ideal for mobile mechanics. You have way too many small tools that could easily be misplaced without a case. Too big and slow for us though.
That 5 amp 20 volt battery did not look like a genuine DeWalt battery. There's some clone batteries on the market that are hard to tell. One of the ways to tell if it's real is, it has that square scanning code on top of the battery. On TH-cam look up ( Project Farm ) on June 6th he uploaded a video on fake batteries that are on the market. It's a great video for information !! The name of the video is called.. ( Have You Been Scammed with a Counterfeit Tool Battery )
These are older DeWALT 20v batteries. We buy very few 20v batteries now days. Most are 12v or FlexVolts that are new. The DeWALT battery in question is 100 percent real because that battery was warrantied at the DeWALT service shop. Battery level indicator quit working. DeWALT used to have a shop right by us and since has moved but their still only just over an 1hr away.
I think it’s more about how modular the system is. I’d hate to carry each item to a job site whereas you can store a bunch inside those systainers/ packouts and put it on a dolly to transport them to a job site
Concerning the dolly I get it. The idea of using a cart to haul a bunch off tools into a commercial setting would be ideal but I don’t believe most people in the states are using them that way.
I'm a carpenter and it's a lot easier to have all my tools in a pack out system and I take one trip into the job with my stack and one trip out when I'm done. Seems easier to me but u do u
@@campbellbuilt I’m in California and 90% of the contractors I know use some type of modular system. I feel as though it is unproductive to pick each tool one at a time and have to make a bunch of trips to the van. I take 2 stacks with me and that is all I need for a full days work. Hardly ever make a trip to the van. One is a stack with systainers and the other is my festool dust extractor with more stacks on top
@350Zamir if you don’t mind what trade are you in? I know that as more trades become more specialized their not carrying as many tools. As I eluded before if there was a long walk into the building I’d be dolling tools and most likely the Chevy Express wouldn’t work because of the carts height. You know what second video coming about this😀
Viking arm is the best I’d say
I need to get one
@@campbellbuilt those Amazon ones do the trick tho I guess it’s a question of how long they would last if it was used everyday as part of your trade
m12 needs an update
This is gold! Thanks so much. I have to drill a 3.5" core hole through double brick and i have already drilled my 10mm pilot hole. Was going to do similiar by cutting a hole in timber to use as a template, but your method makes more sense, apart from the fact i already have the 10mm pilot hole
I’ve done both styles and they both work great but the pilot bit guarantees exact placement and tear out on the other side.
For the cost of the ladder and the leveler legs = Werner should have simply predrilled the ladders at the factory........ It as alluded to requires measuring and drilling using a drill bit size not typically found in many bit sets. These ladders and leveler legs are not cheap.
Appreciate you sharing. I am putting up a heavy canopy over my bed with alot of material and needed this exact info. I have tried for a month to ask in different ways how to hang my canopy and got the run around. Now I can proceed.
If fire bad 🤣
His face kinda gross’s me out
You like hammer don’t you!
I got hammer
Me too
Dude how have you been? Didn't know you had a station. Good for you.
Who this?
You sound like a confused person I can assured people in europe make more money with tool boxes you will be searching for drill bits and other bits you mislead because you are not organised if you work in a shop that's OK on site you would not work in europe
You can take your plastic box’s right to the landfill
What I really can't understand is, that many people don't understand, that Tanos and Sortimo aren't just delivering tool boxes. Here in Europe they fit out your whole van, workshop and such. They deliver many many solutions for sorting things out. Maybe you check one of those out? Regards, Etna.
I do understand that what we’ve done is not for everyone. Tano’s and such style boxes are great for protecting your investment however the downside is that they add a couple more steps to you getting to that particular tool. Those steps are what I’m trying to eliminate. The down side which is minimal is that there’s no blade holder without the boxes. Appreciate the comment Etna
A van tour would be really nice. Seeing how others set up their vans/trucks that works for them is really cool.
Will do
Only a hobbyist so I can't fork out for full price Makitas but I'm definitely planning a purchase of 3 trim router clones. Looking to build some custom 21700x5 4ah lightweight batteries to go with them. All in a fleet of trim routers and batteries is looking like under $150
You can never have to many trim routers
tool boxes are just tool boxes at the end of the day.
😀
Ha. Worked perfectly. Thank you, sir.
Awesome
Great review- I work on boats and houses & I changed my entire tool universe over to DeWalt 12v and am blown away. Yes, I need extra batteries, but the weight savings & size make a HUGE DIFFERENCE!
We agree, the 12v can do almost everything that most people need and leave the heavy tools only when you absolutely need them.
Same for me. I hate unnecessary heavy tools 🤬
