Muy bien video!, yo sigo buscando cómo controlar una tira led IC CCT, con wled 😢
1:58:00 they’re on your left side 😂
Fantastic video. Here is an extension to the API toggle command that I found useful: If you want to toggle to a specific color, you can use RGB values in the command. For example, if you want it to toggle red, the line is win&T=3&R=255&G=0&B=0
Hey mate, I built this and it is my best 3D printed project so far! Are you OK if I promote this build on my channel and link back to your video for viewers to get the printer files?
I noticed you are using a breadboard jumper for a data w a wagu connector. Do you find that combination to give a reliable data signal? I'm not sure if my setup in wled is causing a "glitching" or "spasm" kind of behavior or if my data pin connection is lacking
Thanks for the message, typically I only use breadboard jumper wires for demonstration purposes. When I make a final build I typically use 18AWG or 16AWG wire for wires attached to the LED panel or strip. Breadboard wire is easy to use because of the connectors but not too reliable in final builds.
Great video. I'm wanting to program to momentarily light up individuall electronic drums. I have them installed and using wled. I was hoping to use the piezos used for sound to trigger the lights. Hi do I trigger multiple pins?
That's a great question and one that presently I do not know the answer to, you could try posting it in the Facebook group facebook.com/groups/1079069409842433/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT
I don't know if it's the same in reality or if it's just in the video: The pixels look terrible, it would be better if there were no partitions for the pixels, and they merged a little at the edges, the fire effect is just pathetic, for many animations it's better to have the diffuser removed and no pixel separations.
I guess whoever came up with the original idea preferred the individual pixels to be defined, if they weren't then they really wouldn't be pixels. That would be like saying you prefer to watch a blurry TV picture. Yhe idea is to create a defined 8 bit style image, and I feel this and other builds that other TH-camrs have done work really well at doing this. I see what you're saying though, I think one without a partition would look cool if you weren't using specific images. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Considering the level of frustration, that was a really fun night anyway!! Oddly, though when we got off Warzone I had a notification of an offensive chat warning which makes no sense because I had my mic set to party only, and had all the other last words/prox chat off. I thought party only means that even random teammates that we squad up with are not hooked up to chat, unless that has changed and now randoms get added to the party until they quit on us.🤷♂
I'm not sure, kind of weird. I was cussing up a storm last night lol
Did you ever figure a way to show multiple animations... i.e. a playlist og playlists... :P
I didn't, i may try and revisit this topic in a future video. There have been several iterations of WLED since I made that video, so who knows, it may now be possible. Thanks for dropping a line!
Does this design include enough space for a Esp32 board inside it?
Yes, i thought I showed putting the esp 32 inside it?
Found this about the EN BUTTON….. On an ESP32 with a USB mini port, the "EN" button stands for "Enable" and essentially acts as a reset button, meaning pressing it will restart the ESP32 by momentarily cutting power to the chip, allowing you to reload code or reinitialize the device; it's essentially a way to trigger a power cycle without physically disconnecting and reconnecting power.
Good to know, thanks for sharing
Great video! Very informative.
Why can I install SR version on any of my devices esp32 ? I tried esp32 s3 and after installation it never boots to interface or ask for WiFi
Zombies turned out to be quite a hoot once I started to have an inkling of wtf is going on--still have no idea how half the damn stuff in that game works even after playing all night!!
Lol, 2.5 hours in and I still couldn't figure out what the objective was
Hola si el color no es exacamente el que se muestra como se hace para corregirlo
Can you elaborate?
Light-switch dimmer functionality? I've been trying to use WLED for the control of a single white LED driven with PWM and a MOSFET. Ideally, I'd like two buttons, high and low. Touch the high button (with light off) and the light comes on at 100% brightness, hold the high button and it dims from 100% to 0% in about 3 seconds, depending on when you release the button. Touch the low button (with the light off) and the light comes on at 2% brightness, hold the high button and it increases from 2% to 100% depending on when you release the button. Short press (0.5s) either high or low when the LED is on, toggles it off. Hold either high/low (with light on) and the light will dim/brighten until released. Most dimmer I have work similarly and you have to turn it on full or to the last unknown setting before dimming it, but sometime I don't want 100% first thing in the dark morning. I have a lot of ESP based dimmers running Tasmota but couldn't figure out a way to provide this functionality. I think this might be possible with API commands but haven't figure it out. Using a ESP32 with Touch buttons seems to work well enough, no need for physical buttons. Maybe overkill to use WLED but I use it for all other LED projects. Thanks for the video.
What are you using for powering this Matrix? I've bought everything, but only powering with a DC 5V 3A or a USB Piggytail seems not enough from the specification. In you design you go with a DC IN Plug, but what kind of power supply are you using? Are you powering it down via WLED software?
I'm using 5v 6.0amp power brick (kind of hard to find, i'll post a link to it when i can), it's powerful enough to power the matrix at about one 3rd of its maximum brightness. I didn't want to use one that was too powerful, as i wasn't planning on running the panel at full brightness. If you intend on running it at full brightness (which is don't recommend) you will need to rethink what you make the enclosure out of, plus also add ventilation and cooling.
amzn.to/3AI1rPc here's an affiliate link to the one i use. It's the only 6 amp power supply i've found in this form factor, and it works really well!
I am not much smart about these things but I like when people play with things like these. As I watched DIY Perks channel before and he used to replace backlight on the TV with some really powerul LEDs. What do you think could it be possible to combine multiple of these matrix panels and use them as a backlight for the TV?
That's a great question, you could potentially use these as a backlight but why would you want to?
Thanks for this! When I save, I keep getting Syntax Error: The string did not match the expected pattern. Any ideas what might be going on?
That's a great question, I also experienced a couple of issues like that. I will probably do another video on this when I get a chance.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the super chat, that was very kind of you, it couldn't have come at a better time. You rock!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the superchat, that means a lot.
Jraphics Interchange Format is such a weird name. Better switch to animated pings.
How much to print me a couple of these?
Lol, sorry, i don't offer printing services. There are some out there though. Just download the files from thingiverse (link in the description) and send it off for print!
Thanx, I was Searching for this video all along
Glad you found it!
Super!!!
Many thanks!!!
Happy to help
I bloody missed it.
Yup, you did
Opening my 3D software try to make one, ok...wait, how about google first and landed here :)
is it possible to play gifs in a TFT ili9431 display instead of led matrix ?
That's a great question, and one I wish I had an answer for.
@mybritishcomputerguy can other versions of ESP-32 be used? We can't seem to get our computer to recognize the device. Even after installing supposedly the correct drivers.
Yes, absolutely, I did another video (I'll post a link to it) that discusses a couple of different variants of this board. There are a couple of variants that I've found to be buggy. Give me a few and I'll find it and post a link below.
Do you need any heatsink plate on the back of led stripe? If yes, how could you join the sink and the stripe?
That's a great question, if you plan on running these leds at full brightness then you will likely need ventilation and maybe a small fan, as it's made out of PLA it will withstand a fair amount of heat, but eventually will warp. I never plan on running these at the maximum power that they can draw. A heat sink is a good idea but that heat would still likely need to be vented.
I think good idea button 3 level brightness white & other button for RGB thing for bed side lamp 3D printer. Bit hard setup make 3 level brightness off > 1 > 2 > 3 > off > 1 > 2 > 3 like my bed side lamp. I got crappy bed side lamps with 3 level brightness don't have RGB effects.
I did everything here (Great video Btw) but when I generate the Image, pretty much everything gets assigned white color, have tried different amount of frames and configurations, but same result, any idea? Thanks
Sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss, im not sure why it does that. I wish I had an answer for you. I will keep working with these and if I can find a good solution I'll post an upset video. Thanks for your comment!
Is there a way to override the current preset with a different preset as long as the button is pushed?
Nice work, I would like you to share the software code.
Hell yeah! No dubs though 😢
😂😮🤕💥
Fantastic!! Is it possible to control virtually those buttons using a smart switch on the wall?
That's a really good question, WLED does support remote controls, maybe one could be programmed?
take a look at home assistant. i think wled was originally made to work with it.
i think yes if you use "switch" setting instead of button, but i am not sure. because to have 2 or 3 presses with a switch baybe is odd. BUT you can use a smart switch (wifi or zigbee) with which has INCHING setting (off automatically after it is turned on for a specified period), setted for example to go off after 0.5 or 1sec on, it will act like a push button, as magic! and you could do a scene (macro) for example in tuya/ewelink where you turn on/off/on/off etc in sequence, to act like double press, or even long press. and that scene if you have alexa/gHome can be seen there, and with voice you can activate it.
where is the code for esp32?
Can you elaborate?
So they say it can draw 15amps running all white, what about stringing multiple boards together? Would we need an even bigger power supply?
You would, always base your power supply calculations on 0.06mA per led if you are planning on running White on full brightness. If you're not planning on running full White on full brightness then you can get away without such a powerful power supply. Either way I typically always err on the side of caution and get a bigger power supply than what the total current draw would be.
@mybritishcomputerguy I fix machines for people here in the US. They just asked me to install an LED system for them. I appreciate your video, I have subscribed, and will continue support of your channel.

Excellent video and really helpful, keep it up! I have a question. I'd like to use a push button to control some SK6812 for desk backlight. Thanks to this video I can easily use the button to also toggle the leds on/off, I am trying to decide whether to also add a toggle switch that handles power for both the leds and the board. Should I just use a single button and keep the board running 24/7?
I would, that way you could physically disconnect the power from the board
I use cheaper one panels with wled, its industrial panels with hub75 can order single panel 128*64 for 20 usd
Single esp32s3 can handle that even can play minecraft through this by hyperion
just gotta invest in 3d printer, keep seeing cool things to print.
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for making it and breaking down the code meanings … you saved me from a lot of headaches just now. 😂
Happy to help!
