Quick question for you: I have got the FL Studio VST and sound works within the vst itself, but when i go back to reaper and i have my midi file set up and hit play, no sound is made from the plugin. I'm just using the single 1x2-out. Are there particular audio settings I should be using or changing either within reaper or within the FL plugin?

I can not get this to work!!! It will not dock. and samples will not load from within the Reaper file manager. I can get samples to load if I drag them from the desktop but then when I trigger the sample theres no sound even though i see the meter moving.

Sadly Spitfire is no longer free. Luckily I managed to download the VST's I wanted a year ago.

This video is great thanks so much, I've followed it exactly (however when I load Kontakt 8 player there was no option for 'Build Routing Configuration') and I am also getting no sound. When I play in the midi using different channels, I can see in both the Kontakt player outputs and the instruments samples that the correct samples are being triggered and routed correctly, but no audio is being sent anywhere I can hear it. Any advice would be much appreciated

Dude I really appreciate how much info you have on Reaper. I am coming from Ableton Live 9 and 10, been using reaper now for about 2-3 days. I have a lot to complain about but I have a lot more to be said thats positive. My favorite thing is just how customizable Reaper is. It's a smaller daw footprint, and not having all of the useless factory stuff since even when I had ableton I liked to download VST's like crazy. Another thing is the ability to change these themes. Ableton is pretty comparable as far as needing to have a learning curve. UI for Ableton is a bit nicer just because for instance their plugins have very nice ui's etc. But personally I'm liking seeing all of the adjustable parameters with the lesser UI from Reaper, which helps me understand each technical knob. One thing I hated about ableton was their piano roll. It's really good per se- but I never had any luck with their scales etc being able to pop in any scale from whatever mode- you really had to know each scale because it would still place the note on not scaled notes. That being said there were a ton of short cuts to edit midi notes etc. Having these themes really helps because it just brings back that firmiliarity. As far as being free, Reaper 100% takes the cake over which one is "better". There are a couple of features are really amazing about ableton though. For instance they have a "wandering memory" so for instance if I didn't have the metronome playing I didn't have to have the track recording. If I just hit the "memory button" It would remember the last played notes and place them in a "Midi track" and I'd have the pattern there- even though I never had it recording. Can't remmeber if I had to have the track armed. But anyway that's about the only thing I miss about ableton. They had some decent stock plugins but. Reaper really does just about everything and more than ableton. I had to take a while before I understood ableton. I really also like their TAB feature taking you from the different display modes. Never understood how to create a song on the default display mode (before you press tab) on ableton. Oh well, wont have to learn it now. Reaper is officially my DAW now!! I'll probably go back to Ableton for my Mac if I can ever get it back up. But for now for my PC laptop i'll have Reaper since this CPU is much less capable which is my own limiting factor on this computer which made me TRY reaper. Thanks Reaper! Also thanks XELOH! Reaper is best in any regards as for 24. My Piano Roll is customized in a way there isn't neither need nor urge to go any where else. It just rocks😊

Thank you :) My zoom in and out was reversed compared to what I'm used to in ProTools. This helped! If anyone reads this who is a ProTools user, check out this guys mods to Reaper. th-cam.com/video/iNCpOvv_Ac4/w-d-xo.html ReaTooled V2 basically turns Reaper into the ProTools with the layout, functions and shortcuts, but it also maintains other great functions of Reaper.

The theme looks like cubase for the big boys and girls. Such a shame that you have so little views Do we know which algorithms are used?

Damn, there is got to be an easier way to use Kontakt in reaper. Thanks for the tut tho because I wouldn't figure it out by myself.

I just started using Reaper and this is great because it solves the problem of having Kontakt loaded per instrument track (like in Reason). But, I've noticed a problem. I cannot setup FX sends on the Kontakt tracks. For some reason, a Kontakt instrument track will only output through the Kontakt parent [Player] track. If I add a send to a reverb or delay, the instrument goes dark. To be precise, say I have your setup like in this video and I want to send Kontakt instrument #2 to a reverb track within Reaper's MCP. When I route the send like I would any other track, that Kontakt track goes silent. It looks as if the individual Kontakt tracks in MCP only permit sending to the Player and nothing else. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the loopback-that the instrument track isn't actually outputting as audio, that Kontakt is looped into itself for playback. Is there a way to get around this?

ONLY thing I wish they'd add to the piano roll in Reaper is the ability to hide notes not in the key like you can in Ableton Live. This is different from the option Reaper currently has to hide unused notes which hides any note with no midi data.

Thanks! Coming from the ease of use of Garageband and even Abelton and Reaper is like quantum physics of user interfaces. I have to look up almost every little thing as it's not intuitive.
