    Thank you ! I’m brand new to midi editing tho. Need to look for more basic midi in reaper. LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED. I wish you said what modifiers you held when you did things like drag a note up or down.

      Check out my pianoroll video... It will explain how I use the midi editor... Hope this helps

    11:10 there is an action that sets each selected note to a different channel?
    on the example and pad cases that have less notes, looks easier to deal with,
    but i'm wondering in case of orquestral layers, a lead or another instrument with dozens to hundred of notes, how to keep the idea and organization to add mpe cc fx to those notes via midi editor?

    • @learningreaper
      @learningreaper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I have that set to change selected notes but it never seems to work for me not sure why..🤔 if you are doing orchestral stuff with a whole lot of notes I wouldn't be doing it in the midi editor I would be doing it from an MPE controller that's way to much work 😂

    Thank you for this super video! I find these new features are super useful. Did you change something in particular in your MIDI options? I tried to do the same thing with the same vst in MPE mode but it didn't work...

    • @learningreaper
      @learningreaper  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did have a few things changed I think my default shape was set to a different default and I did many tweaks to the piano roll what were you trying to do?

    • @gianangelobolzonello1052
      @gianangelobolzonello1052 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@learningreaper basically I was trying to do the same things in your video. Actually, it works perfectly with another free synth I use but with Surge the pitch bend automations do not work independently but, for example, automation on channel 1 effects also the automation on channel 2 and 3

    OK. But can you help me? I can't deal with sidechain channels. Let's say I make a sidechain from kick to bass on virtual channels 3-4 and make a sidechain from lead to pad on channels 3-4 too. Will the kick affect the pad or the lead affect on the bass? Or are these 3-4 virtual channels unique for each message? Thanks!

    • @learningreaper
      @learningreaper  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It should affect what ever you assign to the kick... Try it and see if you can hear the side chain

  • @Bi0Dr01d

    It doesn't have to be "tedious work", Someone can develop a script Just like an FL studios for slider notes. If People can make a drum sequencer like sower To resemble FL Studios, then somebody can also make note slide Scripts to resemble it as well and make the whole process much easier.

    • @learningreaper
      @learningreaper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed but for now we have to use what they give us... I am an advocate for script writers on this channel for sure I love the community... Hopefully someone can make some scripts that can work well with slide notes but we shall see... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

    • @Bi0Dr01d
      @Bi0Dr01d ปีที่แล้ว

      @@learningreaper Thanks. Yeah, it's long overdue. I imagine that if a person knows how to write a script that it shouldn't be too difficult to make because note bending features already exist within Reaper, and one can utilize what reaper already has developed in order to make a more straightforward tool.
      Also, if someone did make a slide note feature that has the same behavior as Fl Studios slide note feature, It would actually be better in reaper than in FL Studio because FL's slide note feature does not work for any instrument, It only works for specific instruments or samples, unless they change that since the last time I used it.
      This would really help the experience in Reaper a lot, and it just makes sense to make such a tool. If people can spend time making drum racks for Reaper, then they can make the slide note feature too.

    So for 808s just changing the placement of them on the piano roll won't change the pitch? This way just seems very tedious... But great video thanks.

      If you are looking for it to pitch slide no... I have a video showing how to slide notes in Reaper if that is what you are looking to do... You can use this method but it will take forever to get it right..😀🙏🏾

      We shall see...👀 I know people that make several lanes like pan.. pitch .. low pass .. high pass and so on... It takes a lot of time to do it manually that's why people use the MPE keyboards and pads to do these changes... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

      Yes you have to assign them using the parameters button at the top of your VST or RS5K

  • @zuluripper
    @zuluripper ปีที่แล้ว

    This doesn't seem like MPE... just pitch bends on different midi channels.

    • @learningreaper
      @learningreaper  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MPE is the option to use different CC lanes by making them into different channels that effect different notes this is just the basics using the semitone with the pitch ... But you can add different CC lanes with individual channels in one midi editor and control them separately.. so you can do a pitch lane.. a pan lane... Filter lane and more .. if you have a keyboard that does MPE you will see all these lanes created when using it automatically... I hope that makes sense ... Thanks for the comment..😀🙏🏾

      Well, Reaper should present it better. Maybe similar to how Ableton does it.

    does anyone know if there is a way to use reaper as a midi controller in real time? like a way to use reaper to send cc info to a device without being in playback? or does anyone know of any way to use a laptop to act as a midi controller at all (not in playback)?
