Thanks for the video just gotnmy first boat with an 87 johnson 150 v6. Looks like i need to replace the gaskets as i can see some leakage and when i push the gasket in w my fingernail while mounted, i can see the gas. Completely new to all of this.
Just bought my first boat came with an 87 Johnson 150 V6. I wanted to learn how to clean the carbs but I am scared to mess something up. I'm having using w the motor starving out past 45 mph. I'm replacing the gas lines, if that doesn't work I ordered 2 new gas pumps. The fuel filter is clear. So if those don't work then my next guess would be dirty carbs. I have no idea when it was clean last
the way you talk sounds almost exactly like me. Then I read in the comments you're from Jackson, so am I haha weird. I never knew we had such a particular accent.
I thought I had filmed the issue but during editting I found that I had not and the boat was back with its owner. The pickuo tube had become super clogged with old fuel from it sitting for a while. Once cleared it ran fantastic. Sorry for not showing it properly guy
Love How every video on this fast-forwards through the installation process and just focuses on the rebuild of the carb. You would think 100 videos on TH-cam about this is enough but I guess not. It would be nice if you could find a good video on the whole thing you know like a 10 minute video on 10 minutes of installing it. Every video is an hour and a half of some guy, talking and bullshitting and then fast forwarding through we’re actually trying to see.
Odd that the primer solenoid’s red pointer is in the wrong orientation. Why mess with carbs before setting the simple things first? Also, the cap on the primer solenoid covers a Schrader valve that allows cleaning carbs and fuel system with a cleaner attached at that valve. It’s like this guy just wanted to make a video of removing and servicing stuff he knows little about. What a waste of time to have watched this.
I liked your video man. Although I'm getting to be a pro at that damn bottom carb nut on pump side. It sucks. Man if you wouldn't mind hitting me up I have a couple questions on these carbs I can't seem to get anywhere else. Thanks
Awesome video. My son (11years old) and I did this on our new Jon boats today. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Nice teaching him at a young age thats cool

Appreciate you doing this video. I have the same outboard, now I'm able to clean my carbs myself . Thanks again

Around the 29 minute mark I heard y’all mention RJ’s. Are y’all around Jackson, MS?
We used to be from jackson but recently we moved to minneapolis. Love me some mississippi though spent most of my life there.
RJ is the truth

@@southerngearz lol thanks! We are about to do it and want to make sure that wasn't some important step. Lol
Ok so i was using them to hold the lines on over on that side. I believe
@@southerngearz o so just didn't have any of the little metal crimps to hold the gas line on?
@@ryanwood1062 i wish but nah the original owner only liked zip ties and took them all off. Crazy
Ok, missed the reason for watching the video, cover picture showing a problem. Where is it in the video?
