Absolutely get what Jamie means about how fun it is to come up with something tasty and unique out of what random items you've got left over in the fridge. Growing up poor meant coming up with creative ways to make do with what we had, stretching meals, and making things taste great. I learned a lot from my mom, but it was these little "challenges" of cooking that sparked a large amount of my love for cooking and encouraged my continued learning. I still, to this day, find myself at the end of a paycheck without much left in the pantry and fridge, having a truly fun time coming up with something creative. Just last week, before we got paid, I had to scramble to figure out what to make my husband for lunch. Found a number of veggies I froze because they were close to going (butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes), cooked them together with seasonings, garlic, and onion as a soup. Blended it up to smooth, added coconut milk, and served it over a lime rice. Truly, a rich and filling lunch for him that were just things I had left from that week of cooking.
Langres is just pronounced langr. No e/ey sound at the end. Great cheese, fresh and creamy, tastes like butter made love with brie. It s got a DOP, but very few french know about this cheese, so i m even more amazed an english chef had some in his fridge. But it deserves a seal of approval 😅 Edit: same for epoisses, the es is silent so it s hey-pouh-ass.
I need to find this in the states. I'd never tried grapefruit soda until a few months ago when I saw a 12 pack of a grapefruit soda called "Squirt," and since then I've become absolutely addicted.
A version of the sausage casserole crumble is definitely my personal winner. Lovely vid. How about a disastrous fridge from a normal (dare I say, the infamous Kay). Would be more fun to see the horror and mayhem that ensues.
Will, I just am not surprised by the contents of your fridge. Definitely Jamie has it for me but mostly because in my household no pizza is ever left over! I feel compelled to add that funky cheese is a staple in my fridge and I have just started a mushroom farm at home and procured a pigs head for some charcuterie. Bath Chap, brawn, etc!
I've worked with chefs all of my working adult life and boy do they love their take out. Its like they enjoy not having to cook for once, more than the food itself.😂
POKER FACE IDEA! Denatonium Benzoate (the bitter agent in Bitrex) is a white tasteless, odourless powder. What could be fun is having something like profiteroles or dainty pastries/fruits and have the boys each have a small sieve full of icing powder or some sort of white powder to decorate the food. Of course one sieve will have this bitter agent in it and you will have to be careful ratios/volumes to ensure it is all safe, but I think the added theatre of making all participants sprinkle their own icing sugar could add a fun element to the new poker face style. I’ve been a fan for around 8 years, it all started around the time of Ben’s birthday sweet quiche, the 70’s battle with Barry dressed in a rubik’s cube, back when mr Currie was just on the food team and hadn’t blossomed in-front of camera, Baz did the breakfast battle against the spanish guy who made the banana nutella pancakes. All in all you guys have been a delight to grow up with, and now finally coming to university and having a kitchen and some proper independence I’m now able to put into practice all the things I’ve learnt over the years from you excellent lot. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to engage with any of your live shows, or ever join the sorted club/packs. I’ve always always kept an eye out for your guys’ cooking books in every charity shop I visit though, but to no avail. Even still, the knowledge and confidence in the kitchen I’ve culminated through the sorted team has been immense. I just want to give you boys a huge thanks, and want to congratulate the Sorted team on how you have evolved and grown across the development of youtube, and how you have excellently stayed relevant and ever expansive in your content- never ceasing to teach and help. Keep up the great work lads! PS: I appreciate I have said ‘Boys’ and ‘Lads’ almost exclusively, as in writing this I am mainly referring to Baz, Spaff, Ebbers and Mike as you 4 were the main on screen personas I learnt with, but I don’t want to discredit the incredible work of the entire team, and its always a joy having them included on screen here and there and seeing the teamwork and community dynamic the Sorted team encourages so well PPS: Apologies I’m going on a bit of a shpeal but writing this Poker Face suggestion has just given me a vessel to express my gratitude and love for this TH-cam channel, and wider company. I do just want to say quickly that I think the University/Young Adult market could be tapped into better currently. I appreciate you boys are very busy, and it shows in the quality and quantity of the content you produce. But the food waste, food knowledge and food appreciation areas around university life are astonishing. If you could find ways to inject your knowledge and understanding into students you’d have an amazing impact on all those areas just mentioned and I’m sure you are aware of all the positives you can provide yourself, so I wont go into some long prose about why I think you guys should. But if perhaps University visits, or merch drops etc to get the name out or something small that can build. I don’t want it to seem like im prying for freebies, but I do believe you guys could have an even greater impact by involving the student market into ur revolutionary meal packs. Cost of Livvie is hitting everyone, so perhaps even just trying to involve yourselves with some societies and provide small discounts and taster sessions into meal-packs to entice students. I just want to provide that small lil nugget of an idea and see if it at all manages to blossom. Stay awesome sorted! I look forward to the all the bants you guys continue to dish out about barry’s sous-chef status: well-earnt but well-deserved. Thanks ❤
I can’t currently find that vid, and I fear I may be misremembering: Barry’s competitor in that battle and he may have been Brazilian. But it was definitely a delish looking dish that I have voted for way back when.
The Dominoes in the fridge makes me smile so hard. ALL chefs have those items that are utter crap in quality. Like unquestionable they could make better blindfolded. BUT be it nostalgia, ease, or just preference, it'll be there and they will not be ashamed. Bourdain had KFC mac and cheese, my instructor at chef school loved Swanson Hungry man Fried chicken tv dinners.
I'm a fan of cheese. I usually have a parmesan, Romano, asiago combo. A gouda, a sharp cheddar, a port salud, a cream cheese, a baby Swiss, and a blue cheese.
As a Sidekick user and enjoyer, I can easily say Jamie's dish is something I would place into my weekly lineup. However, Berry's makes me think that if there were a way to incorporate leftovers meals that weren't a part of a previous mealpack (i.e. leftover Dominos) it would open up the utility of the app a lot more than the way I currently use it.
Back in the day when I llived in London, Dominos had a normal promotion: buy one pizza, get one free if you were at the restaurant to collect it yourself (not delivery). I would get the 2 margarita or extra cheese pizzas and freeze them in 2 slice servings. I would pull out a serving and add fresh toppings (like Baz did here) and a salad or something for the side dish. It was so good to get your pizza fix, have fresh toppings, but have it stashed at home. Saved a ton of money, too, since the 2 pies were like only a tenner.
You guys should go check out this korean variety show (it ended a few years ago) called Please Take Care of My Refrigerator! Its a super fun concept where a celebrity brings their fridge to the show and then comes up with a theme (e.g. late night snacking food) and two chefs have 15 mins to come up with a dish using ingredients in the fridge for each theme the celebrity comes up with. Would be fun to try!!!
Those Jamaican patties are _beautiful_ for when you need a quick snack or just a treat after a long day, kinda wish someone made a veggie version that I could still eat
Just downloaded the app, chaps. Starting properly next week due to the fact that I just did the weekly shop… I’m almost always cooking for 2, always vegan (she is, I’m not, but it’s more convenient to just cook vegan) I was surprised st the number of vegan recipes you have, and I have a few tricks up my sleeve to turn some of your veggie recipes vegan, but I’ll always take more if you’re up to it. Variety is the spice of life n all that.

Amen. And that sounds yummy!
Sometimes simple ideas are the best ones. Love what Barry did with pizza leftover.
Langres is just pronounced langr. No e/ey sound at the end.
Great cheese, fresh and creamy, tastes like butter made love with brie.
It s got a DOP, but very few french know about this cheese, so i m even more amazed an english chef had some in his fridge.
But it deserves a seal of approval 😅
Edit: same for epoisses, the es is silent so it s hey-pouh-ass.
Indeed Barry, we'll let you know who should have won.
Jamie, he won the battle and should have won the sous chef apron as well
Love seeing a can of Ting, or as I call it, sassy Lilt
Sassy Lilt 🔥
Rum an ting is the best
I need to find this in the states. I'd never tried grapefruit soda until a few months ago when I saw a 12 pack of a grapefruit soda called "Squirt," and since then I've become absolutely addicted.
In Canada it's called Fresca.
A version of the sausage casserole crumble is definitely my personal winner. Lovely vid. How about a disastrous fridge from a normal (dare I say, the infamous Kay). Would be more fun to see the horror and mayhem that ensues.
i look foward these videos so much, thank you for all the hard work you guys do!
For me, Barry is the winner, because I can honestly see myself doing something similar, the next time I got some leftover pizza. Great job!
This is absolutely brilliant! Thanks so much.
PS: I appreciate I have said ‘Boys’ and ‘Lads’ almost exclusively, as in writing this I am mainly referring to Baz, Spaff, Ebbers and Mike as you 4 were the main on screen personas I learnt with, but I don’t want to discredit the incredible work of the entire team, and its always a joy having them included on screen here and there and seeing the teamwork and community dynamic the Sorted team encourages so well
PPS: Apologies I’m going on a bit of a shpeal but writing this Poker Face suggestion has just given me a vessel to express my gratitude and love for this TH-cam channel, and wider company.
The smile Jamie brought to my face with his enthusiasm over ting 😊
So the question is: If Jamie and Mike beat Barry in enough challenges, do they get to challenge him for the Red Apron?
I havent watched Sorted for a couple of years but since the christmas advent my love for you guys has revamped!
Great subtitles today! Best ever, in fact 👏
Again, I love seeing creativity.
Jamie face when he dropped some of the pizza in his casserole x)
I wouldn't have thought of doing either recipe, but I will now - thank you so much Sorted 🥘🍕
It's more cooking from some of the contents of a chefs fridge but still a great idea and very interesting, fun to watch.
The fact that both boys managed to bang out pretty decent mid-week meals before the timer ended was amazing!
Lemon juice on cold pizza. Life and gamechanger. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!
Barry made a pizza, from a pizza.
Man, ting and BEEF PATTIES, big up the yardie!
I am very impressed with Jamie and Barry! They appeared to have a clear idea, which worked out, no faffing and both looked very confident.
Would Jack be open to opening up his fridge?
Please do a video about Roe once it is opens!
Ebbers: Don’t panic lads. You’ll be okay!
Jamie: IM GONNA MAKE A CRUMBLE.
They made a deconstructed, reconstructed quiche and strata! Brilliant work, boys!!! 😂
Jaimie definitely deserves this one, that looked really tasty.
Great video! Love this series ❤
I love this series so much
The saucy sausage casserole hands down winner for me lads! ❤
"Bit of a Lad"
Opens fridge: DOMINO'S 😆
So funny to see Dominoes pizza because it originated about 35 miles from where I live and it was my first taste of takeout pizza.
Jamie won the title of creativity and Barry won the title of upcycling
Two really nice dishes there, good on you boys
Cheese pizza with butter chicken or tikka masala is top tier drunk food.
Uncle Roger's fridge and Uncle roger as a secret judge would be fun
Savoury Crumble, where have you been all my life? Thank you Jamie for this wondrous gift!
I would like to suggest checking the fridge of the cooking Vtuber Onigiri, she now leaves and cooks in Japan
Always Happy to see you guys! Suggestion: Colombian battle! 🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
A bit late to the game but Jaime’s dish really captured the essence of keeping it simple and to have it all in one to two pans is pretty good and not THAT much to clean up afterwards as compared to ahemBarryahem
