I lost a game the other day in my mid-diamond lobby. Everyone was diamond except our tank who was bronze 1. No clue how they got there but it was miserable for them and us.
It sounds familiar. I played Winston when I was unranked In a diamond lobby had like 5k damage and the other tank had 20k🫠 had a bunch of mitigation, tho. Had like 30k mitigation
i got into a diamond lobby as a gold tank that mains support. we won tho but idk why i was there. i was running dva into a zar/echo comp and was wondering why my team was telling me to switch😬
I’m gonna be real, the fear I had when I saw this video title I thought someone submitted a VOD of me bc I was in a high gold lobby as an unplaced tank and tbh caused my team to lose and I felt awful about it I apologized profusely in chat
Bruh, don't beat yourself up about it: there are 5 people on a team, so as long as you weren't hard throwing on purpose/afk/jumping off the map, you probably weren't as bad as you think.
Honestly, I'd love to get thrown into one of those matches, under the condition that the enemy team wouldn't abuse it to spawn camp me and would just play a normal game & punish my mistakes. I feel like it could be a valid learning experience.
@@i_fuze_hostages6 I mean, yeah. Of course you're gonna get rolled. But just a few matches of that where they don't let your mistakes fly could be really valuable to show what's a bad habit and what's not. I do this sometimes in competitive games if I find some high rank friends. I call it a 'trial by fire' and usually it helps me climb up a bit or push me to use a mechanic I'm too afraid to use. For example, in Rocket League I was in a trios match w/ a friend that was a few ranks above me (I was somewhere around Silver and they were Diamond to Champion) and we didn't usually win, but I actually went for and landed my first aerial in those matches because I *had* to go up in the air to contest the higher ranked players.
Yesterday I had my first ever 5 wins on comp (I’m a quick play dweller) and got gold 3 on support, when I played the next game they shoved me into a gm game and I had the most stressful day of my life. We fortunately won but damn did everyone from the other team noticed I’m not supposed to be there and were just bullying my ass
Ah ;; this made me scared now. Was also a quick play dweller and finally decided to give ranked a chance. I got placed in Gold 1 as support (and that in itself surprised me) If matchmaking somehow does that to me im going to be a mess haha
I have over 100 hours on both damage and support in comp and both are stuck in b5. I have less than 2 on tank and I'm g3. Only played 6 games there. My friends are either too high or low to que tank with sadly so I haven't touched it since.
@@Aether52 Lol that's my account right now, b5 in damage and support after falling from b1 at season 1. But since you started tank as g3, does this mean your rank is a blank slate when playing a different role for the first time?
Maybe your game style suits well for tank and ya did great? Tank is hard role tho, haz to figure when go aggro and when play defensive, just dont get any stress of the rank.
@lacai527 I would watch a lot of flats in season one so I guess I learnt some good tank tips back then. I main support with over 100 comp games this season now and have been pretty well locked in g2. I get rolled in plat lobbies because I have silver aim at best 😆
On the subject of being in the wrong rank, this happened to me recently. I was on a Smurf account 1 tricking genji from bronze to however far I could get (currently at M5) and I encountered a strange game. I was gold 1 at the time but I had 2 teammates with strange ranks. One was bronze 4 (too low to match with a gold 1) and another who was diamond 1 (barely within range of a gold 1). But, it baffles me to think that I had a game where there was a bronze 4 and a diamond 1. Diamond 1 is practically masters so there’s the second lowest rank in the same game as a very high rank…
They need to fix ranked matchmaking. The other day, I lost 8/13 games because i kept getting teammates that were low bronze (if they weren't, they definitely played like they were). 2 or 3 of the matches i lost i didn't do that great in (i'm a doom main fyi). But the other ones i carried. I (usually) got the most kills on the team, most damage (most of the time), most damage mitigated (also most of the time). I'm honestly not that good, i finally managed to climb out of bronze because I got an actual mousepad. My old one was tiny and made of this weird as fuck felt/gel stuff. Impossible to clean and my mouse would constantly not register movemnet on it. My point is, i just want teammates (and enemies) that are actually in my skill/ranked division.

Really the only criticism I have is wow he was terrible at using his ult. He kept saving it like it was accruing interest in an account.
Yeah idk what happened, last time I played comp (Season 3 or 4) I placed gold 2 at the highest and my lowest role was silver 2 dps but I've been being put into bronze 5 and 4 matches consistently this season... I really dont get it

Waffle man, ANYONE ELSE besides the Tank bro. Other wise that was more than what most people could ever ask from a DPS player playing Tank in Gold Lobbies, as a Signma, on Kings Row
It's funny how lower rank players seemingly DO NOT want to win fights. Like, they will hold this great angle or choke point, they will have an impactful ult available, they will have the entire enemy team playing clumped up and passive... but they DON'T want to win? Why?! Just use your ult, 90% guaranteed won team fight, and then you get to build your next ult immediately. But nooo, lets wait so long that the enemy team has 10 gazillion opportunities to find an advantage, because it's only fair to let them have fun too! The main reason people don't climb, is because they refuse to adopt the mindset of someone who is above the rank they're in. They're not disrespecting their opponents, they're not acting like smurfs, they're not using their advantages - they just settle in the flow of the game like how you will just tag along in the flow of traffic and drive according to everyone else. Well, if you drive like everyone else, you will never get out of traffic. That's how elo "hell" works, you get stuck in the flow of gameplay you're used to, and you accept that you are just another player stuck in your rank and play like how everyone else dictates you to play. Ult when others ult, give space when enemy pushes for space, react to what the enemy does, and see them react to what you do. Constant follow-the-flow mentality. If you wanna get out of Bronze, stop doing what the other Bronze players are doing and take control of your own gameplay.
