India Dresses Down U.S.' Report On Religious Freedom; Reminds Of Racial Attacks On Its Soil

- The Ministry of External Affairs has slammed the report of religious freedom released by the U.S. State Department. India called the report "deeply biased...visibly driven by vote bank considerations and a prescriptive outlook". MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reminded the U.S. of racial attacks on Indians and vandalism at places of worship on its own soil. The report alleging violent attacks on minority groups in India and citing the violence in Manipur was released on June 26. Watch MEA's scathing response here.

In 1947, the people of India - of whom Hindus were a majority, consented to a handful of their leaders giving away 33% of India's landmass so that a new country can be formed solely on the basis of religion - Islam, which is not indigenous to India and constituted about 20% of the population at the time. Even in the face of this, we chose to continue as a secular country. This is our ethos.

@@PkTrek Please read up on the history of British India, Muslims in India prior to Mughals and the Decline of the Mughals. By the time the East India company was consolidating their power, the mughals empire was decimated and in severe decline. They never fully recovered after the conflict with the Marathas and this was mostly due to infighting within the mughal royal family. The East India company propped up the remaining Mughals for a while before doing away with them completely. But if factual history doesn't do it for you, let's use your own twisted logic. You say British India was occupation of Muslim Mughal Empire and should be handed back to them - then by that logic the muslim mughal empire was an occupation of Hindu homeland. If the british should handover the empire to the previous rulers - the mughals no longer exist and the Hindus were the original rulers for more than a couple of thousand years whilst the mughals were in power for less than 3 centuries at most. And the Muslims as always were the minority and could no longer compete with the Hindus at this point. The disaster that was the Khilafat movement proved that the muslims no longer had any might either within India or outside. My original post was to remark that at this juncture Hindus in India did what the Muslims never did. And that is to treat "the other" with respect and consideration.

India should stop giving any importance to such reports from US. No use. Ignore such reports and offer no counter explanation or replies. They have their own agenda and they will continue promoting that.

These are not random reports coming from non-entities. It is a carefully thought out course of action from the policy mandarins in the West to have a handle on India. What they are saying is thatnthey believe they can count on the "minorities" India to keep India off balance. And they are not wrong in believing this. India's minorities are no friends of Hindus.

That's why India needs to expose the duplicity, hypocrisy, Selectivity and biasedness of that so-called report.
The report does not reflect the opinion of American people but part of an agenda of US govt. There is no way we can convince them to change it. No matter what we do or explain, US govt will come up with such reports. What our govt should do is to follow their example. On a regular basis our foreign ministry should bring out reports about issues concerning US - and there are several issues. Our Parliament too should do like wise. May be US will then soften their attitude and avoid issuing baseless reports. Atleast we can irritate those hot headed officials who issue such reports about us.
