Here is a suggestion about the waist issue. Separate the top section (Chest) and assemble the mid section directly onto the waist, it will push the peg from the mid section upward.. the connection is solid I am able to move my karl just by grabbing the chest with no fear of it falling apart.
I like the part separation for the head. I was afraid it might use stickers but no. Plus like you mentioned, the details underneath the visor are pretty neat. This big will look good next to my Zeta Plus.

You shouldn't have their legs spread so much if you want to give an accurate representation of their size. Gustav was still probably a quarter inch or more taller but its legs were spread kind of far apart
"Thruster bell" is a phrase you will only ever hear with Gundam builders. Sci-fi modelers refer to them as rockets or rocket engines because that's what they're called. They're also not chrome, no matter how cool people think that looks on their models.

I love the Gustav Karl. I do wish they would make an Re/100 version though. The bulky nature seems ideal for that line of models. Maybe some day.

The arm/shoulder joint does go up way further, you have to pull out the joint first. Just like the Galbaldys.
It's super super tight though. Almost impossible to make it move without adjusting it.
Also want to say that the *THICK* Gustav Karl will looks very cool with the *SWOLE* Byarlant Custom.
