Legend! Been working my knackers off trying to install a walk in shower at a recently purchased static caravan ready for use and be rented out. I had 2 plumbers promise to help out getting the job done whilst I can't be there and both let me down. Another wanted stupid money to install a basic shower unit. I have almost completed the job myself but as I am not experienced with shower mixer installation and the installation instructions are terrible, I have been looking to confirm my thoughts on the assembly of the fittings. Thanks to this video, I now know exactly what I need to do and you provide clear, simple and easy instructions to follow. Thank you!
Gave me the confidence to change my leaking one after 2 plumbers came and failed to resolve - the cause: wrong rubber washer had been used on original install! Fitted the new one anyway following this and very happy. Thanks for the vid James!
Fantastic, what a channel! The fact you can use the plastic pipe in this scenario really sorts me out, I was planning to use JG pipe for my new mixer shower and the valve plate, I didn’t realise the copper O ring could be used on plastic. I’m a spark to trade been out the game for 5yrs now. This channel is fantastic for me. Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I have a thermostatic shower by Coventry brass works. Most plumbers I have called for an estimate don’t know how to install a thermostatic shower.,. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for this, it was really useful - I had a plumber in to install a shower - halfway through and he decides he needs another £150 for him to be able to get the job finished that day - otherwise he wouldn't be free until the end of the month. You've save me a tidy sum. Thanks!
Great video ! Novice plumber and always had to pay a plumber to fit shower valves when doing bathrooms but your video was simple, clear and gave me the confidence to give it a go . Thankyou
Gave me confidence to disconnect an existing fixture and replace by a dual shower/basin tap fitting. Problem as new fitting bought in Philippines (much cheaper) was 1400 mm, so needed to move pipes, bedded behind wall tile (in unknown material) without breaking pipes in wall. Tricky, but successful, so thanks again.
Thank You!! I am so glad I watched your video. I bought a bar shower from ebay where the instructions said that the bar had to be fitted to rigid pipe! Not the easiest thing to have in a cavity wall. I have now ordered the brackets in your video which just make so much more sense. Good to see that you used plastic pipe - I wasn't sure that was ok to do (now I know).
Thanks for the video, Im fixing my bathroom and it buggled my mind how the pipes and the valves should be installed, even tho im not doing the VVS myself. ;)
Little tip, blast out pipes before fitting mixer show.(Especially on new installations) As the mixer shower has plastic filters inside. If there is any debris, or mainly flux. This will damage the filters inside
Ive watched alot of you vids to help me though my shower room make over. Best advice I've come across. Top job, mucho grassyarse and keep up the good work. 👍
Thank you for the video, those 30 odd people must be a tap ass not liking this video! I just bought similar to this mixer now after I watch the video I can carry the work in full confident .
Lovely, neat, logical, now HOW DO YOU fit the weird shower elbow I have that threads into a female connector in the wall?! While ensuring the elbow both faces down, and fully screws on securely.
If your shower comes with them g thread off set things would you just bin them and use this system as it's seems better than having a thread in the wall?
Anuva fing... I would be tempted to assemblt the valve onto the brackets, get it level, then mark the holes. That way you know the holes are bob-on. I can see it would be a bastid if they were out slightly. Keep it tight baby!
You won't lose a tank full of hot water as the takeoff is from the top of the hot water cylinder. Turn off the valve on the feed from the header tank to the cyclinder and there will only be the small amount of water in the pipework that might have to be drained off. nb. a bit different if you are using a direct feed system.
Hi, thanks for the video, it's very helpful. I need to install a Hansgrohe shower similar to the one in your video and they recommend using plumber's grease but don't tell me where to use it. Where would I use it and should I use PTFE tape for any of the connections (I notice you haven't)? Thanks!
Is it the same with copper pipe after you put the compression olive on and compression nut. I.e after putting on the compression nut over the olive with copper would mark the copper pipe as far in to the compression nut?
Hi James, I have just brought pipework to back of the aquaboard. How long should I leave the tails sticking out as I haven't bought the shower valve yet. Cheers, Charlie.
Oh I wish ours was this straight forward. Have you got any suggestions of how to overcome copper pipes where the nut from the old shower protrudes from the tiles by 10mm, they won't push back and the easifit bracket won't fix flush ..thanks
Another good video 👍 where do you get the fitting brackets? They're just the ones I need! Why do they still provide them awful offset connectors! They're terrible to use, keep the videos coming.
Hi, very helpful video! We are thinking of buying this Bristan Shower bar, but was hoping to remove our old bar and to fix this new bar straight on without changing the decorative covers. The measurement of 15cm is already correct, but are the bolts to screw on the bar all one standard size? Is it likely to fit our covers that are currently in place? thank you!
question for you. what do you prefer when it comes to thermostatic bars and shower bath mixers? rubber washers or fiber washer. i have so many problems with the fiber washers so keep changing them for rubber.
question I have just had a shower fitted with a larking shower valve but am having trouble getting hot water through it, it has come through occasionally but generally running cold
Drop the fiber washer into a cup of water real quick to make them a bit wet. They will never leak if you tighten them while their wet. I used to change them out for rubber ones as well, till I thought of this.
Where do you get the valve and/or the compression fitting / wall mounted plate? I've looked at all of your links and can't find it. Thanks for the video.
And here's where you buy it: www.ebay.com/itm/Bristan-Wall-Mounts-Fixing-Kit-For-Bar-Shower-Mixers-WMNT10-C-/322744127672?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c1#viTabs_0
I’m amazed that no one has picked up that he drilled a hole on the right hand fitting with the bracket vertical! So he ended up with three holes and did not fill the hole with silicone sealer. Just as well he realised though before he drilled through his pipe on the second lower hole.
I've just had a Bristan bar shower fitted and I've got a leak appearing on the ceiling below, where do you think it could be from? Something not tight enough maybe?
Hey PP, just watching your bar valve installation very informative, thank you. Was wondering what the recommended installation height from floor/tray should be? Regards Angie
Hi, I have electric shower with a 15mm mains water pipe ( 80psi /5.516 bar ?), I want to convert to a mixer valve , will 15mm mains water and 15 mm pipe hot water pumped ( 2 BAR ) work . or do I have to reduce mains water to balance pressure to 2 bar? thanks, Ron

To make the mark when cutting pipes, @ 4.10 mins. Do go as far down as possible with copper pipes? Coz plastic has inserts.
Sorry I meant @ 3.54 mins.
Wow, 11 years ago and it is still as handy as ever, cheers mate

rachel hasler - Well, it made me chuckle! 👍
Best mixer video so far on fitting.
Gave me the confidence to change my leaking one after 2 plumbers came and failed to resolve - the cause: wrong rubber washer had been used on original install! Fitted the new one anyway following this and very happy. Thanks for the vid James!
couldnt believe how old is this video but still one of the best

Really good video. i am a bathroom/kitchen fitter and use these fixing kits all the time
Hey there just wanted to ask when you cut the pipes coming out of the wall how long should they be?
Ive watched alot of you vids to help me though my shower room make over. Best advice I've come across. Top job, mucho grassyarse and keep up the good work. 👍
Forgot to ask, on my mixer bar I have cone shaped filters, would the taper go in the direction of the water or against? Cheers.
Have you got a video on installing a thermostatic shower in a single skin brick wall please? Enjoy your content. Cheers
thank you just retro fitted a mira shower your video was much better than miras own channel. keep up the good work
I love watching a pro work.
Thanks again for sharing this video and appreciate it so much

You've been installing showers for a long time 😂
If your shower comes with them g thread off set things would you just bin them and use this system as it's seems better than having a thread in the wall?
Thanks very much. A few useful tips here to help me finish off my en-suite. Regards
after fitting everything, can we remove back all until bare pipes? I think since the olive is tighten up we cant?
Great video… where do you buy mixer bars that are 1500mm wide think you meant 150mm. 😂👍
Anuva fing... I would be tempted to assemblt the valve onto the brackets, get it level, then mark the holes. That way you know the holes are bob-on. I can see it would be a bastid if they were out slightly. Keep it tight baby!
Really helpful video mate thank you for posting 👍👍👍
I’ve used speed fit and thought I’d need copper from the speed fit to the mixer 🤷♂️ I might go back and redo (I’m only at the pre tile stage
Ur quality has somewhat improved in 2025
I've just purchased this style of shower mixer, albeit a different brand, and it doesnt have any wall plates? Is this normal?
Good Vid matey! Will be fitting one next week
+Get Bry Good luck Bry!
Best explanation, thank you.
The hole at the top (3.30) isn't sealed - it will possibly let water down the back of the tiles?
You won't lose a tank full of hot water as the takeoff is from the top of the hot water cylinder. Turn off the valve on the feed from the header tank to the cyclinder and there will only be the small amount of water in the pipework that might have to be drained off.
nb. a bit different if you are using a direct feed system.
brilliant very helpful video
Where was the check valve? Was it behind the wall or are they part of the bar?
Hi, thanks for the video, it's very helpful. I need to install a Hansgrohe shower similar to the one in your video and they recommend using plumber's grease but don't tell me where to use it. Where would I use it and should I use PTFE tape for any of the connections (I notice you haven't)? Thanks!
Is this the soloution if there is no hot water coming from a shower but there is hot water coming from all other outlets in the house?
Very clear. Thanks
Canny video there bonny lad, got one of these comin mundah, looking forward to putting a ern. Nice vid hew.

Thanks James.... this video helped me out. Gracias amigo.....
which one is better, bristan or mira ?
Nice vid what kind of cavity wall fixing can you fit with a tile in front ? plus what would you charge to fit this shower in all ?
BEST AND GOOD JOB...VERY HELPFUL BRO
Excellent video, very helpful, thanks.
exellent video very clearly explained thank you for sharing your knowledge really helpful
question for you. what do you prefer when it comes to thermostatic bars and shower bath mixers? rubber washers or fiber washer. i have so many problems with the fiber washers so keep changing them for rubber.
Rubber washers for showers, fibre washers for stuff that might need to move a bit.
question I have just had a shower fitted with a larking shower valve but am having trouble getting hot water through it, it has come through occasionally but generally running cold
More than likely the thermostatic valve is at fault which regulates the flow of hot and cold.
Drop the fiber washer into a cup of water real quick to make them a bit wet. They will never leak if you tighten them while their wet. I used to change them out for rubber ones as well, till I thought of this.
Do they make these fixing brackets for 22mm inlet pipe instead of 15mm?
spot on video nice one for this. great help

1200mm or 1.2 metres. did you manage, or, still waiting?
Do you have to fit non return valves on the pipes before fitting shower thank you
