After being let down by a tradie who did a shoddy job of our bathroom - resulting in water completely ruining the whole thing, we had a real mess on our hands. I’m pretty handy, but had never done a bathroom before. This video and the one on installing shower wall was a massive help. Really happy with the end result and a huge relief to have it sorted properly.
I'm a gas engineer plumber etc you explained this procedure very well I always struggle, now I'll be using your tips to fit a concealed valve next week 👍.

A question about the shower - I am installing the same handheld shower to an iron elbow in the wall… What should the distance from the elbow to the finished surface be? Flush or recessed a few mm? The Crosswater instructions online don’t make it easy, and I am doing first fix before I have got the handheld shower… Thanks chap!

Top vid James, as per. Small tip with the wall chaser, to create even less dust run it from the top down, that way it doesn't blow dust out of the grooves you've just cut

Just got ourselves some gorgeous Crosswater brushed brass stuff and we’re also testing out using a Emmeti manifold in the bathroom instead of separate isolators, so this could get interesting! Would love a vid on pressure testing a system, what pressures, what should be bypassed, how to fill it up etc etc. All there is out there on TH-cam are small pipe run tests which are obviously super easy to do! 👍 Keep up the awesome work!

Finally got round to watching in full. The Crossbox showers are expensive but I've fitted some traditional ones which are the same price. I like the pressure test facility and you can swap the hot/cold module over. Thanks for the video matey. Enjoy the weekend.

Great video, iv used the loc tight since the product arrived on the market wouldn't use anything else ,i was told by the l/c rep to roughen the threds with a pair of grips or hack saw blade ,this helps the thread to grip the cord.
Fit the controls in the centre of the long wall behind the bath, and the shower heads where James has put them in the video. That way you can turn on the shower without getting damp.
Excellent video. Thanks! Just a note though. I'm fitting one of these right now but my face plate has marked icons (unlike James's) for each outlet meaning you can't switch around the outlets from that stated in the booklet! I learnt the hard way and had to open up again to reconfigure pipework.

Just a quick comment on you fixer foam; I’m a tiler (for my sins) and if installing a smaller metro tile you may run into issues long term if the tile ends up bonded to the wall less than 60 percent. Just my thoughts, I would say good to check tile size and material before using this method..
I think is fantastic product you used James the only thing scared me about concealed shower in 5 or 10 years time if you cartridge is gone you have to rip everything out to get it reaplace loved the video.

I’m using Loctite 577 for my concealed shower valve. Seems simpler than what you used. Still slightly apprehensive about covering up the home made pressure loop and 6 jets!!

I have got a similar job but the iron fittings that I got are not deep enough and I can't screw them in place or into a stud or wall. Any suggestions mate ? Thanks
Installed one of these a while back, lucky I checked the outlet connections matched up with the face plate as the instructions were wrong although the online pdf was correct. Other than that nice bit of kit.

After 5 years that left suply to the Bath wil going to leak. Ij Holland we arrnt even alowed to use these fittings in walls were u cant see them. If i may ask, why you didnt solder everything ore used machine to press the fittings like Viegapress ore vsh?

Hi, these are thermalite blocks which will hold a screw. Don't try it with cinder blocks or old-fashioned breeze blocks though - you'll need to use a plug.
Great video James.only done one of these installs before. Great tip with ptfe on threads for outlets could never get it to seal and face same way with ptfe.What do you think about the inaccessible compressions behind tiles etc what if they leak in the future?
Nice install video! Does this product let you run both shower heads at the same time? Your test only showed four positions for the diverter (OFF / bath fill / shower head / deluge head). Or can you go half way between the positions? Aren’t these products a bit old school now? You have to REACH into the bath to turn on the shower, getting half your arm wet (at a temperature that isn’t warm yet, even worse...) - wish there were more products out there that addressed this
with the concealed pipework the mixer can go anywhere: I fitted my mixer at the other end of the bath, means its above your head when you lie down in it so i made sure it was high enough not to bump heads. this means the shower can be turned on and adjusted without leaning around the shower screen and getting wet... very handy when you have little kids as well!
Thats a hard one to answer...depends on area (London is different to Carlisle!) and if you were doing the tiling, how bad the walls are...the variations are endless! Glad you enjoyed dude!

James, quick question buddy. Can I use this cross box or the grohe universal rough box thermostatic valve with aftermarket shower fascias? I’ve already bought a recessed shower mixer but it’s not thermostatic and wanted to upgrade to one of these.

Hey man ive been watching your videos for a year now and ive just finished my level 2 plumbing but i havent found any apprenticeships or plumbers mate work do you have any advise me and others in my situation.
just go on indeed or cv library, search your area and search plumber or plumbers mate, just ring round as many agency's as you can get on there systems and go from there, just say you have experience and just fake it till you make it! You'll learn as ya go
The Dust cover on mine was so loose it couldn't used for levelling and kept falling out. Also, the the max/minimum markings isn't that useful. If you panel to the minimum then the controls will stick out further. Then is no other adjustment.....if your customer doesn't want the control sticking out far then you have to sink the crossbox into the wall to the maximum point. If this is supposed to be one of the best in the market ....then the bar is very low

Good tip! I think roughing the threads also helps prevent PTFE from unraveling when you undo a fitting.

i recently fitted a concealed mixer in my own bathroom, the cartridge can be replaced by just removing the fascia, which is the case here as well.

Kev Wild unfortunately it’s part of the job. Pressure testing gets rid of the risk to a certain extent. Of course you could use soldereds.

Mat Smith on this you can’t go halfway. Crosswater listen loads to us so I’m sure they’ll read this and take that into account.

Max depth on a 100 block wall is 33mm being 1/3 the width of said block......
