Great video as always Sam. I was only in Pokhara a few weeks ago for commissioning of the VOR for the new Pokhara International Airport. The new terminal is a huge upgrade for Nepal which will allow international travel direct to Pokhara.

Sam - nowhere in the video you mention that this sturdy aircraft (most of it's siblings are still flying in the republics of former USSR, including Siberia) is made by golden hands of plane builders here in Moravia, Eastern part of Czechia: In the town of Kunovice where the factory is located for the past 60 years there is also fantastic airplane museum - maybe you should pay it a visit! But your video is out of this world! In my younger days I've flown Twin Otter in west Nepal out of Nepalganj - then western hub of RNAC (Royal Nepal Airline Corp. of bygone days...) - and still remember the towering mountais flying in the valleys south of Dhaulagiri towards Dhorpatan... Nowhere in the world you fly at 18,000 feet and still have mountains above you on both sides!!!
This is the guy never afraid of any aviation sector. Thanks for promoting epic travelling in Nepal 🇳🇵. I took my mountain bike to Jomson for a Muktinath ride. It was so epic. 😃
Nepal is definitely one of the best places for interesting and breathtaking trips like the one you had. I’m glad you enjoyed it and had a great time there. Thank you so much for this wonderful video Sam 👍
You are saying breath taking? definitely yeah! Your fucking airport is life taking go and talk to your government! And tell them to improve it so the tourist would more comfortable to lan here my freind
Pokhara is about to open their new bigger regional international airport from this January 2023 which will be able to land airbus a320 like aircrafts so therefore this old small domestic airport which can land only aircrafts like ATR72 , is going to be closed . People from India and near by countries can directly fly to pokhara when the airport opens. UPDATE : it seems the international flight is not going to happen as India keeps refusing to give permission to Nepali airlines companies from flying direct to some cities of India from these new airports. Earlier also they refused to give air route permission to Nepal ariines and other international carriers to fly and land from Gautam Buddha international airport to other countries because it has to fly above indian aerospace. It seems this is also one of the strategy to not allow your neighbour to develop because instead of helping, they keep creating difficulties for Nepal

I flew to Pokhara this year in a Jetstream 41 of Guna Air and I left in a Beachcraft 1900 of Buddha Air... So this was absolutely special and fantastic and I guess only possible in Nepal. I also flew in and out of Lukla in 9N-AET. The Plane that crashed shortly after. The highlight for me was to stand on the Runway at Syangboche, surrounded by Yaks... Namaste from Germany
Another gem Sam after the Lukla flight and helicopter to Everest BC! 😍 I flew from Jomsom to Pokhara in 2018 after doing the Annapurna trek, this video brings lot of amazing memories. It is cool how plane doesn't have to gain any altitude after takeoff from Jomsom, it's downhill all the way to Pokhara 😄 and it is crazy when you think that you are flying in a plane and Annapurna and Dhaulagiri are still over 5 kilometres about you, stunning flight and scenery 🙆♂️
Flew Jomson to Pokhara back in 2000 so thanks for the video Sam - brought back great memories - in particular the views of the mountains and running from the departure lounge onto our small plane, one of 6 that had just landed and needed to get back in the air as soon as possible.
Great photography and presentation Sam! Had no idea Nepal was such a huge tourist spot! The STOL pilots could probably qualify for carrier landings, etc. Roughing it for sure, except for 5 star hotel!
Incredible! Craft made in Kunovice, Czech Republic. Just in touch with my hometown Uherské Hradiště. Amazing see this plane be airborne in this regions. Sweet/sour story about this plane, but in deed still truly amazing airplane..
Awesome video! Had not heard of this route before. Hats off to those daring and skillful pilots who make several round trips everyday to this remote high altitude airport. Sam, I would like to add, you are daring as well to fly this route! Thanks for another well done video.
In 45 minutes time, I check Twitter in the morning and see how the world has totally changed since Covid. Rude people, shouting, insulting. The world is completely f..ed up. Thank you Sam for bringing this all so close to us.
Cool video. I seriously came to the realization that I will never see this airport in my lifetime now, and it looks like an absolute classic. I appreciate seeing this adventure from your perspective. You are a legitimate adventurer. Top notch content.
I haven't heard of L-410 until now, so love this video!! PS: The takeoff length of L-410 is 510m, which is 10m longer than a typical fighter jet, including a single *Eurofighter Typhoon* fighter...
I have visited Jomsom in 1993 when I did Annapurna Circuit trek. That time there was no road so only means to get there was by feet or by air. I walked all thye way. Also the airport was not the same. As I remember there was no tarmac airstirp, only gravel, and no airport buildings. That was awesome trip.
Would have loved to see a review of that overnight bus service. That would have been a unique experience for sure. Great scenery. Thanks.
