Okay here’s the deal, as a former competitive senior level figure skater, I definitely feel for her… she’s such a talented skater and I wish her all the best. But letting her compete ruins the integrity of the sport and the Olympic Games due to the fact that others have been banned in the past, plus I don’t know another sport that would make such a decision this way. Unless the “powers that be” plan on being equitable/fair with everyone going forward and allowing everyone to compete despite whatever drug turns up positive and regardless of where the athlete is coming from, then fine… otherwise, she shouldn’t skate. Or she can skate but cannot be placed meaning her skate is just for show/exhibition.
Also I might get so much hate for saying this but blaming a family member for taking the wrong medication is KIND OF like Ted Cruz blaming his kids for going to Mexico during the crisis that happened in Texas a while back (not saying it’s the exact same thing but it’s kind of similar). I think it’s time they raise the age limit to 18 so we have women competing who know how to hold themselves accountable… 🥺

This is literally the same regurgitated b.s. that so many other self-righteous commentators have said. You probably even believe it makes you reasonable, fair, and well-measured. What it really makes you looki like is an opportunistic, because you're pushing an implication that she's a dope and that her superiority on ice is due to doping. One sample of a trace amount of a heart medication does not a skater make. Even if it was intentional, that med would confer no benefit, especially as a one time thing. All her other tests before and after were negative

Coming into the Olympics, this “protected person” is FIRST and FOREMOST, an ATHLETE. Hence, she is bound by the rules and standards expected of EVERY SINGLE athlete competing in the Olympics. A positive test for any banned substance should automatically disqualify her as an Olympian. It is disgusting how she can STILL be allowed to compete just because she is “protected.” This devaluates everything that the Olympics stands for!

It is you who says she is from the “wrong country.” Hence, YOU are the one politicizing this. Fourth, her grace, her lines, and her jumps are absolutely exceptional. No contest. Yet, it doesn’t change the fact that she tested POSITIVE for a banned substance. An evidently clear violation of Olympic rules and standards. And so she stays. If we are talking about rules - they should work for everyone without exception! Why were the deadlines for performing test analyzes violated? Almost six years ago, American gymnast Christine Sheldibine tested
positive for doping. It showed extremely low levels of a banned diuretic. It
turned out that the substance had entered her system with tap water,
which she drank directly from the tap. Did American officials then blame -
as they did in the case of Kamila Valiyeva's sample - the entire system for
what happened? No, no punishment was
imposed on the athlete and she performed at the Olympics.

Still not learning the lesson? Kamila is still young and has a longer life of future, so there is no need to give her a sympathy. She needs to learn to follow the rules. Going against the grain here. So if she tested positive for doping back in December, why didn't she get disqualified before the Olympics even started? Did they just get the test results in last week? The timing of this scandal seems unusual, as if it had been meticulously placed for this kind of drama. But controversy and shock drama aside, watching Kamila Valieva skate is enchanting and magical. I'm not discrediting the hard work the other clean figure skaters have put into this competition. It must have felt unfair and unjust but a little empathy and understanding for how much pressure and attention is being flooded onto Kamila...imagine the psychological trauma that must leave behind. Hopefully this doesn't break her but she'll bounce back better than ever.

This is so much bigger than one skater, and a sublime and extraordinary one at that! She strikes me as a good kid, but the trouble is the systematic feeding of whatever drugs to all these kids, presented as supplements to the entire Tutberidze squad by domineering adult coaching staff, including an anesthesiologist who has ADMITTED to researching illegal drugs for performance enhancement and who was already implicated in doping!!! Not only does the tender age of Tutberidze skaters make them more able to drive to ever greater and tougher physical feats (albeit at the expense of their health after the expiration date of 17 years of age), but I'm certain it makes them easier to boss around and force to fall in line.

    • @valerie8217
      @valerie8217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

The fact is that there was no systematic feeding. The drug was found in only one of many thousands of her samples taken during her sports career. Many in the West don't want to hear this. Russian girls are so good that some other nations perceive Russia's superiority in figure skating as a personal insult and try to present this single positive test of Kamila as evidence that Russians achieve their victories not with work and talent, but with the help of pharma.

Right? It's wild all these people are blaming this kid. As if these coaches don't make every single decision for her. Tutberidze openly admits to keeping kids away for their parents for years at a time because the kids will be more obedient to her, and she can make them practice on the ice for twelve hours a day. Many of these Russian kids are shamed about their weight, and even starved- Tutberidze praised one teen athlete for 'not obsessing about food like the others' being docile about eating 'two shrimp' for dinner, putting them on liquid diets and other extreme weight-control measures that stunt their development and make their bones brittle. In a climate like this, how reasonable is it to think that they can say 'no' to these pills. Its a completely authoritarian system, and these kids are thought of as a 'product' of their coaches technique, and not as human beings with their lives ahead of them.

And how do Americans, all so honest, who are for honest sports, feel about the fact that their athletes drink drugs, saying that a doctor prescribed it to them? But wait, legal or not, you drink drugs that make you stronger and you win, but WADA says it's all right, it's legal. Is it fair to other athletes who come out already knowing that you took drugs and they won't beat you? No, it's as unfair as doing it covertly, but you keep doing it and it's no less depressing for your opponents. You are talking about honesty and fairness, but are you honest yourself after the whole world learned last year that many athletes from the US and other countries are taking drugs that are banned by WADA? After the sanctions of Japan last year, Biles showed a poor result, without her drugs, refused to continue, she proved by this that they helped her to take high places. Let's take all her medals, just like everyone who drinks drugs, even if it's for health. It will be honest and fair if the sick will perform in the Paralympic sport, and not with healthy ones))) And it’s too cunningly they came up with someone who has a migraine, she drinks medicine for migraine, but it increases her physical data. Is it fair? No. In such rules there is no honesty and integrity. I won't be surprised if all countries have their own laboratories that make new drugs that are not on the WADA list. I'm sure. Why, before Sochi, Russians were not caught so often on drugs, and after Sochi, Russians all decide to actively drink them? This is strange, very strange. I wonder which country will be the culprit of such scandals next? Which country will stand in the way of the United States to medals ... if the world still remains as it is now?)))))

She tested positive, slightly above detection limit only once, never before, and never after. She has the right as a young woman to defend herself, use sample B from the time (december 25) or being punished in due process. I think the people who are mostly at fault here, damaging everyone in the competition is the testing agency, producing a report only after 6 weeks (should have been enough to produce her genome map). And it was the day after the Olympic team event! Please note, that Russia has 3 athlete hopefuls for medal in female single event. The Russian team could have replaced her and still could have had a high chance to win the team gold (perhaps by less than 7.5 points). So it is only the US and Japanese skating team who benefits from the delay and the chaos resulting from this saga. It is unfortunate that the rhetoric and attitude of the mainstream US media (like CNN in this case) suggests that the Olympic games is a war and not a celebration of sports. (Eileen Gu and Fox lies channel being a good example) While it is critical to fight doping, and punish if proven guilty, but only through due process, and rushed decisions pressured by media (and nationalist steam) should not destroy the spirit of a young woman. I am glad this decision was made, Valieva can show her talent to the world. Whether the medal will be hers at the end, we have to see, but I think the world will benefit from seeing her art. It is important to note, that having this substance in your body in trace amounts for a short period of time (maximum for a week in this case) will not result in unfair disadvantage of oxygen saturation of the bloodstream during training, which this drug could do if taken for a long period of time. Nobody is accusing her of doing that. So I am not convinced that this december test (if true) means horrible cheating and doping, as suggested by the media, and certainly doesn't make her more flexible, artistic, or land a quad jump. So, I think she qualifies for the benefit of my doubt and I am very glad that she was not further humiliated and sent home. She deserves her run, and we will see how it will all play out.

The biggest amount of shame in the women's skating is the light years difference in technical ability between the 'Quad Squad' and the rest of the field. Compared to them, the rest of the skaters are a total embarrassment, (and we all know how much the USA hates to be embarrassed at anything, since they consider themselves to be the best in the world at everything).

Trimetazidine cannot affect the results of figure skating. A small dose was found in the analyzes for December. At the time of the competition, all samples are clean. Valieva performs honestly, there is no doping. Valieva had no reason to use it. Valieva's blood accidentally got trimetazidine from her grandfather. In figure skating, the technique of the athlete decides. Show me a tool that improves technique? Therefore, she was allowed to compete. Many athletes use doping that officially affects results for medical reasons, with the knowledge of WADA. In my opinion, they should be disqualified. All this persecution of Valieva is politics, not sport.

When was she diagnosed with a heart condition? Where are the diagnostic test results from those tests: Electrocardiogram (ECG), Stress test, Transthoracic, echocardiogram (echo or TTE), Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), Positron emission tomography (PET) scan, Thallium scans or myocardial perfusion scans, Holter monitor, Event recorder, Implantable loop recorder, Tilt table test, Electrophysiology study, Cardiac catheterization (coronary angiogram), MRI of the heart, Cardiac CT scan?!!

her doping test was faked, so that everything was honest, let the laboratories that conduct doping tests do it online so that all participants in the countries can see that everything is honest, how do we know, maybe they put this doping test in a flask, there are no witnesses, except for those who did it this test .. all the more so as it was found out that this is not doping, but a fragment of a microdose of heart medication, unlike Simon Biles, these are not large doses in the medicinal version, which are prohibited and regarded as doping

I’m sure my post will be unpopular but I’m just going to put my thoughts out there and welcome anyone with meaningful feedback to opine.
First and foremost have I misunderstood that the investigation into her alleged doping is still ongoing and until completed Kamila is only allowed to continue to compete but NO medals will be awarded until the investigation is closed? Assuming I’m correct in my assumption I pose the question to all the competitive athletes out there or anyone who had a once in a life time shot to achieve a dream, wouldn’t you want the same opportunity if in your heart you believed you hadn’t broken the rules?
Kamila is a kid competing for a Country that is notorious for exploiting young athletes all for the glory of bringing home the most Olympic medals. They invest hundreds of thousands in these athletes from a young age and treat them and their families like celebrities. Unlike in the US they can’t just walk away and post on social media they are being exploited and forced to take drugs. Otherwise they and their family members will pay dearly.
Looking back at Kamila’s performances from when she was a child she was always ahead of the curve. She had the poise of a prima ballerina and the athleticism of a world class gymnast from a very young age. She was a natural. Add to that the fearlessness it takes to even attempt a quadruple jump and she already raised the bar. I think it’s safe to say even without the meds that supposedly increase her physical endurance she’d be landing at least one set of quads in her routines and easily executing the triple combos that qualify as highly difficult.
Before the doping allegations even Tara Lipinski described her as quite possibly the best female figure skater ever. At the same age Tara won the gold and was easily a phenom but looking at the two skaters side by side there is a distinct difference in their performances aside from the jumps and it has nothing to do with drugs. Also at 15 I doubt Tara or any other American Olympian had to contend with the national pressure that athletes from Russia and China have on them from the time they are kids. The latter do as their told. Whatever the story Kamila is telling to justify the reason she tested positive with three meds that coincidently aren’t classified as PEDs, I would bet money that it was fed to her by her coaches and just like every other aspect of her performance it’s her job to sell it.
My point is that we are all judging this child on actions that are well beyond her control and whether or not we believe she has the right to win a medal for her performance I think we should be gracious enough to allow her the benefit of the doubt and to participate in the process. For anyone who missed her short program after all this went down, just being able to perform under the microscope knowing that most of the English speaking world is rooting against her is enough to convince me she’s the real deal and if she were representing the USA we’d all be rooting her on.

@@melgonz.6962 it's not about believing in it or not. It's easy to check it with B sample and whether this ridiculous thing actually happened. I mean, my COVID tests have been false negative 2 times until it was double checked and confirmed, I ended up having COVID and proper treatment despite the labs mistakes. Those medications they refer to in Valieva's case aren't regarded as doping, for figure skater they can bring more harm especially at that age. That's disturbing, indeed. I'm saying that whether she's guilty or not, it's not for the society as a whole to decide. It's a matter of proceedings and experts with a high level of expertise. Unless it's proven that it, indeed, was the case of violation, treat her and her case with the presumption of innocence like in any other case. It's unfortunate that all events aligned, yet usually athletes have some time to prove their innocence or admit wrongdoing. They just don't have time to do everything at once right now. Both the accusing and defending sides. Plus the flow of event is just unfortunate, especially how people respond to it, well, it's not surprising since it's so controversial
