I grew up with Boney M and they always give a good vibe. Legendary.
We were on a school field day in France back in 1979 when we saw them film a music video in front of a church. The crowd watching them got crazy afterwards and I was swept away with the masses, ending up standing right next to Bobby. He was the sweetest guy you could imagine.

It made me so happy to see the smiles on your faces. Bony M were and iconic band put together in Germany during the disco era, and had so many hits. My special one and I were in our mid twenties the all this was happening. What fun days they were. We are now 54 years together and your reactions made us both very happy. Boney M is one of the worlds biggest groups ever. I have seen them live and they have so many world hits and they are fantastic. Best disco back then. The dancer is a performer he do not sing, he´s voice is the producer frank farian´s. Check out their best songs, they are great!

Bobby Farrell was the male in the group... he lip synced the male vocals (which were by Boney M's producer Frank Farian) but he was a great dancer... M.J. before M.J. The ladies singing in the group were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett w/ a 3rd singer Maizie Williams.
I read somewhere that M.J. was a great fan of Bobby and was inspired by him

In Germany in February 1976, producer Frank Farian put together the formation of Bobby Farrell, Maizie Williams, Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell. All were born in the Caribbean and came to Europe as children or teenagers. In September 1976 they were seen on German television for the first time with the song "Daddy Cool".
The quartet were the first pop group in a long time to be welcomed by Queen Elizabeth II, who named them "the most successful pop group in England 1978". In the Soviet Union, General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev personally gave Boney M. permission that same year to become the first western group to give ten concerts in the Soviet Union. Boney M. danced during the tour with the backing group Black Beautiful Circus in front of about 2700 spectators on Red Square in Moscow.

Sorry to have to disappoint you, but there was no "Boney." Boney M was the project of a German record producer, Frank Farian, and the people on stage were the hired help.
Rubbish Boney m were and are a real group liz mitchel,l Marcia Barrett and frank farian maizie and bobby farrell the lead singer is Liz Mitchell and has one of the most recognizable voices in pop history .. search boney m live and watch them perform, liz & marcia are very talented as well as bobby & of course franky.
It started as a studio project.
But very soon was Boney M. a real band with live concerts although Bobby did not sing in the studio!
Special: a star without singing himself on the record...no one reached that...and for so many years...and all over the world...in fact was Boney M. the first band who reached the whole world and gave concerts in countries were other Europe and USA bands had never performed!
