Haha, Boney M. were a German Dance and Disco Group in the 70ties .We grew up with these guys! Actually, the singer ( he was Dutch )wasn't singing, he was the dancer and performer of the group. The producer Frank Farian sang all parts. 15 years later he would repeat the same "fake singing" strategy with his new project Milli Vanilli... nevertheless: my favourite songs from Boney M are "Rasputin" and "Ma Baker" ... have fun! Greetings from Germany!

    • @BoredMarcus
      @BoredMarcus ปีที่แล้ว +6

well, well, let's not forget that the main singing parts came from the girls, Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell, who actually sang their parts. Liz Mitchell is an amazing singer. Also there is a big difference to Milli Vanilli, because at the time it was known that Farrell didn't actually sing his parts and was only the dancer. Milli Vanilli(and Farian) outright lied when asked about that and always said they sang themselves, which wasn't true at all.

I really love your faces and the reaction to this song, especially the crazy dancing and deep voice of Bobby Farrell. They were very big in the 70s from when I was about the age of 5. We didn't really react in the same way you did because there were so many crazy singers and groups out there so it was so commonplace. Unfortunately, Bobby died nearly 11 years ago, so RIP.
The moaning and groaning were probably included after Donna Summer released the song, Love To Love You, Baby, which I think you should react to.

Too many performers today want to look cool. Back then they were often celebrating their unexpected success, and because that was often based on some serious musical skills, they would be so into the performing or playing, that we saw things like 'guitar face' or dancing like this. No one illustrates that better than Steve Vai.

Now kids, this is the difference between Tik Tok dancing on vegan avocado salad with some pumpkin spice and 70's dancing on 100% pure granulated cocaine.

I always chuckle at the difference between the Milli Vanilli thing when they were canned big time for lip syncing to other voices. When we found out Bobby wasn't The Man's Voice in Boney M (but the producer did the singing instead) we just thought: Yeah, but he's fun to watch!

I was sitting in a bar in Mombasa, Kenya & heard this song for the first & only time until the internet. That was in 1977. This song "IS" Africa to me. Love the ladies & their sound. Mombasa is also where Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner caught up to Van Owen in the song namesake by Warren Zevon. I was drinking "Tuskers" beer with an elephant on the label. It was a port of call from the Submarine I was on at the time sailing with the U.S.S. Enterprise Task Force.

They also did a very minimalistic song when it comes to lyrics; the whole text consists of only 12 words - it's aptly called "Calendar Song"
    Boney M.: Calendar Song
    Boney M.: Ma Baker
    Boney M.: Belfast
    Boney M.: Sunny
Boney M.: Nighflight To Venus (title track on their "Nightflight To Venus" album)
    Boney M.: Mary's Boy Child
    Boney M.: Rivers Of Babylon
Boney M.: Brown Girl In The Ring
    Boney M.: Rasputin
    BoneY M.: Holi-Holiday
    Boney M.: Gotta Go Home
    Boney M.: Painter Man
Two other bands of similar calibre back in the time which were very popular in Germany were Goombay Dance Band and Dschingis Khan. I can't remember any song by Goombay Dance Band right now but two of Dschinghis Khan:
    Dschingis Khan: Dschingis Khan
    Dschingis Khan: Moskau

It truly *is* possible for some women to have a mind-blowing body response with no physical contact. If a woman is that reactive, this sizzling hot number is gonna make her *FLY*. Eyes roll up, toes curl and all. This praise from an old white hippie who never heard the original because I was boycotting disco. The title brought me here, I'm curious about non-physical O experiences. Did she for real on stage? Maybe. That was so much more lifelike than the infamous diner scene in When Harry Met Sally. The music and dancing and Daddy Cool's look took me back to Motown artists of the early 1970s, but higher voltage than mainstream Motown artists. All that rampant virility and the glorious female sensuality would have terrified too many prissy people for it to play on some family hour variety show back then.
Thanks for a fun reaction video and introducing me to song and dance I missed the first time around.✌🖖
