very nice job ladies, very clear and precise speaking throughout the stress infused coverage,, would keep radar image with names of streets visible on screen the whole time focusing on where it was heading and skip the jumping back and forth to live feed. i thought the radar screen would update more frequently than it did. Prayers and blessings for all those impacted..
@@kittygonzalez2827 sirens are from the Civil Defense / Cold War days and are old, and outdated, being phased out in lots of places because they're an unreliable source for weather warnings; you need a weather radio if you're inside a structure. Stay safe!
This was is the first tornado I have ever seen, and I live in Andover and saw it from my house and it looked like it was coming straight for us, but thankfully it didn't.🙏
This was a beautiful but angry storm. If it felt like it this thing could’ve wiped a whole row of houses off their foundations. Luckily it was a smaller guy
At 4:34 -- The actual Tornado was that small area, by itself, on the county line. Completely, it appeared, disconnected from the supercell. It travelled NE initially but then curved at US 400 to the north.
My really close friend lived in the trailer park when that 1991 tornado came through and destroyed it. When I found out I was frantically calling him to see if he was okay and thank God he was at work in Wichita when the tornado tore up his trailer. I have lived in Andover Kansas from 1965 to 1983 when Andover was pretty much country and we was so used to tornados coming through that it was just second nature to head to the storm shelter when the sirens went off (if we wasn't already in the storm shelter). My parents owned our home on Andover Road.
Please dig into why the sirens were shut down before 2 minutes! It tore through resided entire neieightborhoods ...and the shut off of those sirens is UNBELIEVABLE AND UNFATHOMABLE! They appeared to hit test mode and auto shut off!
Could have been cancelled for certain parts of the county prior to completing the 3 minute warning cycle as the circulation was moving out of Sedgwick county. The siren system is automated and will trigger sirens that fall within the polygon data fed from the NWS into the siren control software at county EMA. I did notice some clips, including this one, where the siren cycle was short while others near Springdale Rd, you can hear an old SC “Thunderbolt” siren continuing to sound for at least 3 minutes with Andover’s sirens sounding for multiple 3 minute cycles.
I saw the tornado form and it was minutes later when sirens went off. I couldn't believe it. Idk if it's because the tornado formed so close to the radar and was hard to spot or it's incompetency but it needs to be fixed. We are so lucky no one died in this tornado. I don't even remember a tornado watch being in effect, it took me by complete surprise when I saw it and I have weather updates on my phone.
@@MwKShield1 A warning didn't go out until after the tornado was on the ground. No sirens, weather radios or cell alerts for Wichita until damage was being done. Andover being further east had some lead time.
If a Tornado Warning shifts from Red to Purple Chances are: It's been upgraded from a Regular Tornado Warning to a Tornado Emergency (Skipping PDS Tornado Warning in the process). Or (some Tornadoes) It's been upgraded to a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Warning.

"We interrupt this program to bring you a bulletin"
The way that is worded sounded so old-school. I'm feeling all tingly nostalgic ^_^
At least they put out a warning.... The sirens Auto Shut off! They must have been in test mode!
@@sylvestertat1078 I agree...l am stunned that the majority of sirens failed!
@@kittygonzalez2827 Oh, I agree about putting out a warning. Not disputing that at all! ^_^

On many videos we can see how much this tornado is wobbling.
I think you got lucky indeed.

I've seen the 1991 Andover Tornado video, very intense. Stay safe everyone

What
This same storm apparently spawned two more tornados, including a large wedge, just north of rosalia I believe.
I was watching this in my basement last night

It's possible that the power went off at that time, and the start of the backup power was when the sirens started up again.

Those sirens are on a 3-5 minute timer. They restarted them later. At least in Andover

Great coverage, ladies. This is detailed and comprehensive information that may have saved lives. This was a violent tornado.
Wow hope no one got hurt. That's a big one

And considering the Andover Ks Tornado was an EF-4, it makes sense.
On 14 April i see this name...EL DORADO...in KGF 2
and today i see it again in this clip....EL DORADO
His name was the same thing and I just got a message saying he didn't 3rd or anything but there was no drama
