I was in Houston in October 1977 after I had got out of the Marines. I remember a hurricane going across the Gulf and eventually did landfall just of Brownsville. I was job hunting would go the offices of Houston Light and Power. They had a young lady writing updates and maps on the inside of the large window on the street side so could read it on the sidewalk. There was so much rain coming the outter bands that more then I experienced growing up in Columbia Basin in Eastern Washington. That was when I decided I didn't need to live in the land of hurricanes and bad snakes.

You mention a possible tropical storm developing in the mid Atlantic. How is that even possible? Don't tropical storms have to be in the tropics? I've heard storms in the mid and north Atlantic referred to as "Extra-Tropical" storms.
This shit is annoying. I know the season runs through 11/30 but usually this stuff is out of the question for the most part by the very end of October/beginning of November. It’s Halloween and there is zero semblance of any cold. I hate it.
No reason to Panic he says! Helene and Milton were enough. Miton was more than a Category 3 when it made landfall. I have never experienced such intensity (Bradenton FL) and never seen a hurricane cross the entire state and remain a hurricane as it enters the Atlantic. Based on that alone it had to be a 4 upon landfall. Looking at land based wind speed recorded at the time of landfall it was possible. Any way you can take another look?
Maybe because the water of the Atlantic and Gulf is still much warmer than normal. And there're only so many places these storms can go, and it's not the Pacific Northwest. 👍
