They're chrome not for aesthetics, but for rust resistant purposes.

There is a whole science behind shocks. Now I can say that Progressive makes a good product. From my years of wrenching and racing, I do not personally believe that Progressive would make the exact same shock for a carrier company as they would for their own. Things like the valving, oil, seals, even spring rates all can add up to lower cost. This may not be a deal breaker but I do follow the mindset you get what you pay for. This is not a knock on Drag Specialties products everything with their name on it is built by someone else.
Shocks wear out along with the springs. Heard from a shock builder that your shock may oscillate 10,000 times in a mile. Triple that if you live up north. The shock for the rear on most bikes is an assembly of the damper (shock) and spring. The shock controls the bounce of the spring. With no shock the bike would bounce like a basketball. Air shocks can be two styles for the most part ,one is the air is the spring and has an oil filled shock just like a normal assembly. The other is the air dose both, acts like the spring and is used like oil. Advantage with air is you can adjust ride height and adjust for extra weight without the need of a spanner wrench.
I used Progressive on my Shovel, the biggest reason nothing else was made for it that had any options. Though Mr Yogi is in the 250 range, I am closer to 300 and the HD spring rate shocks work great. I did lowering one of 1 inch but its not adjustable like on a Softail.
Here is one last tip, if your shocks are oily they are bad. Unless you own a leaky Harley and its motor, primary, trans oil keeping it from rusting. Shock should also be replaced in pairs.

Out of curiosity since I have the same bike you talk about in this video, did you ever change the timing chain tensioners?

Yes. After the second time the cam bearings took a dump I switched to a S&S gear drive cam

@@YogisCycleService oh hell. Well I'm coming up on 18k. So this winter I'm gonna roll her indoors and begin the tensioner job and converting the headlight back to a fatboy from the roadking nassel.

I believe, so yes but just verify fitment from wherever you order it from
