    Great video. I've been looking for a vid showing the 16" rear tire with the 21" front and yours looks amazing, thanks for putting the time in to get this out!

    I have a 96 springer Softail and I beat on the wrench with a mallet to get the rear bolts loose but no dice.. any recommendations? There’s no room for a socket with the frame in the way..

    • @Mikeityourself

    It sits perfect! I'm looking at a 2001 Fat Boy right now to purchase. Can you add hard saddle bags and do you need adapter brackets do you know? Thanks for the great content. Love the tire and wheel setup too.

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Yes, they do sell kits to add hard bags to softails. I think Hogworks sells a kit but there is a lower cost version that this youtuber and his wife put on theirs. They are called "the badgers" th-cam.com/video/nedt8LdsDZM/w-d-xo.html
      Check that out, looks like the turn signals will need to be relocated if they are on the fender struts.

      My ride is feels the same. The shocks are stock and definitely need to be upgraded. I would like to go air ride but its just too pricey for me. 2016 has a whole different suspension, would like to hear how it goes for you but the 2" drop will make your day for sure. Just cant beat the look.

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dropped about 1.5 inches. The Ride was nice, suspension didnt feel any stiffer than normal; took on a few sets of train tracks to make sure I wasnt going to bottom out. Not sure I will be able to get away with a passenger though.

    Looks good but was it practical for you

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Paul, thanks for your support. Honestly, there is definitely a threshold that can be crossed where it is all about the looks and nothing or little to do with the ride. Now that I have put a few miles on this setup, I can say, I haven't crossed that line but I have to upgrade these rear shocks. The stocks on this thing suck. I will be going to a better quality setup but will continue to do the lowering on it. I've got lots of research to do first.

      @@Mikeityourself appreciate your reply bro and know exactly what you mean by looks and performance
      Thinking of getting a Fat boy or deluxe and lowering but being a novice rider have to consider the handling/performance and practicality over looking good.

    Nice bike! I was considering doing the same thing but we have a lot of twistiee roads in my area and I'm afraid of bottoming out. It looks like the previous owner might have done this also. If you dont mind can you please go to my channel and look at my bike and tell me what you think. I'd hate to take it apart for nothing...

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good looking bike Ken. You've done a ton of work, I bet its a beast to ride. As for the lowering, if you've got a lot of curvy roads in your area, I wouldn't recommend the setup I did, especially with floorboards. If you really want the look, I would go for the air suspension setup. Its going to cost quite a bit more than the solution I ran but you'll have that ability to adjust for your ride and the look when you want to slam it. Ill be watching your channel to see what way you go. Stay safe and see ya in the wind.

      I think the suspension changed around 1999 or 98. I've seen a few other vid's that looked much easier to do than mine was.
