    I love all your looping tutorials. You are such a good teacher.
    One thing that I can't do so far is record multiple loops simultaneously.
    I already assigned independent hardware inputs to 4 loops/tracks and I can't see how to control them 4 as one.
    What I'm trying to do is create live loops with 4 live instruments as in a 4 members band.
    I would greatly appreciate if you point me in the right direction.

      Hey Maria 👋
      Thank you so much for the lovely compliment.
      To record multiple loops at the same time, go to settings (three bars on the top right), click on clip settings and scroll down. You will see an option for “Simultaneous Recording”.
      It is off by default. Switch that on and make sure you have your inputs from your mixer set to the inputs you want to record.
      Hope that helps. 👍🏼

    Great video @JohnPaulMusicUK, may I ask how did you managed to user the ipad mic and output the audio without any interference from the current loop you record before? How did you managed to do this live session demo without the headphones using the built-in microphone?

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Pedro 👋
      Great question.
      So I used the internal mic but you’ll notice the iPad is plugged in and the audio is going out to headphones that are just out of shot of the camera, which are turned down just enough for me to hear but so the mic can’t hear them. It takes practice to do this.
      Then also there is another microphone above me connected to the camera for normal talking.
      Hope that makes sense.
      The best way really is with an audio interface and a dedicated mic.

    I’m new to the iPad looping app thing……I’m a guitarist, have several iPad apps for guitar processing (JamUp pro, Bias FX etc) I have the trial version of Loopy Pro but I can’t seem to get the processed guitar signal from these apps into Loopy Pro. I’m using the Xtone Pro interface. Is this looper not optimal for guitar or am I just missing the “know how”? Great video BTW……I love your channel!

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So to get any apps that are AUV3 plugins or act as an audio interface, you need to open the mixer (bottom left) and then click the + button on the bottom right.
      You will have a few options. Try them all. Some of them might be classed as an audio unit. If it’s not there, then it’s not been made as an auv3 plug-in.
      But fear not, it could be an audio source. Click ‘add hardware input’ and a new channel will pop up with initially the same microphone as the iPad.
      Click on the ‘pre fade effect’ + and see if it’s an effect to be added to that channel. Then just make sure your on the same channel as your guitar. 👍🏼
      Will be making a video about all these things soon if that’s easier. But hope that helps. 👍🏼

    Great stuff! Now for us RC300 users thinking about upgrading to 600, is this something to consider instead? Can it do everything the 600 does and even more or is there limitations/pains except the total price to get a decent audio IO, Midi foot controller and another iPad. What about latency and fix quality, routing? Keep up great work and thanks 🙏🏼

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a TOTAL curveball when it comes to hard area looping cause, yes you will need an iPad, an audio interface and a foot controller so price wise it’s about the same as a new flagship. The 600 is there to do one job and is a dedicated machine. Loopy Pro is an app inside a computer (basically) and that computer (iPad) can do many things. The 600 is also all invaded and built like a tank.. but Loopy Pro can technically do more if you want it to.. but you have to kind of build it and program it up.
      It’s a real interesting time in the looping world!

  • @cleciorimas
    @cleciorimas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I did a test run and found it a really amazing, very versatile tool that is actually bringing looping to the next level, leaving looping pedals feeling old school.
    I think the sequencer feature is very good because it allows the musician to just create the space to be filled with the loop recording and can determine when the recordings, starts and pauses occur.
    This feature alone gives live looping a more musical and dynamic character, where looping recordings can escape constant repetitions. The sequencer for me is very interesting because it allows the whole process to be more similar to how a song really is, with a beginning, middle and end, changing the improvisations for a pre-defined arrangement. Of course, there is no right or wrong way to loop. It's choices (and I prefer something that has an arrangement)
    I missed a section that allows effect automations. Something that makes the reverb appear only between bars 16 and 32, for example, and after that, be turned off to save processing. An effect applied in loopy pro will have its parameters static unless you manually change them. Who knows in the next update?
    In this regard, I still find the duo Clyphx + Ableton Live unbeatable for alive looping, as I can automate everything (turn on/off effects, save clips in ram, fade in/out of devices, etc.) in short, more hands-free. On my youtube I have 2 videos using Clyphx + Ableton.
    Anyway, congratulations for this tool.

The iPad and iPhone used to only take in the basic of signals, but now with Lightning and mostly, any USB-C audio interface, any modern audio interface is fine. I am now using an Arturia Audiofuse Studio (mainly for the connectivity and as well as more ports) but higher quality wise, Loopy Pro supports up to 96 kHz with 32 bit file format. 👍🏼 my advice is get something that has enough ports for what you need and even the basic audio interfaces are better than old CD quality.

      Hey Sim. I saw that you emailed me.
      So if you are getting latency doubling. It will be because the pro duo is sending the audio out to loopy people and then back in again.

      I think it works very well on older iPads.
      The new iPads it will be no problem with. Where you will need more power is when you are using it with AUV3 plugins. DubFX uses an iPad Air 3 and had LOADS of effects and routing on his. But be careful when choosing a new iPad as most of the brand new ones now are USB-C so you would need a different adapter. If you went for the 9th gen base iPad, that’s still lightening. 👍🏻

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Phil 👋
      Okay so, can the Nord you have transmit the sounds through USB?
      Also, midi is not sound, it’s data and can transmit information like which note was played and when, sustain, etc. so if the nord can send its audio and midi through to Loopy Pro then the easiest would be to send that into loopy pro and you would need a few things on Loopy Pro’s mixer - a midi channel, an audio channel.
      However you would only need to send the midi if you want the nord to play something else.. not the sounds of the nord itself. Hope that makes sense.
      The other way is plugging the nord into an audio interface via Jack and then the audio interface goes out to your speakers. You can then capture the Nord sounds just like a mic or guitar.
      Have you watched this video as it’s only a few days old. th-cam.com/video/sfK6SC46ki8/w-d-xo.html
      But please remember we are using the keyboard to control other sounds.. there are no sounds on this midi keyboard.

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The downside to using the apple wired headphones is that they are designed to be used as a microphone do when you are on a phone call. The mic is small but quite sensitive as it doesn’t know where your mouth is. I would strongly recommend you get a device where you can plug into like an audio interface that has a port for a microphone or instrument and then separate jacks for a speaker.
      Plying through Bluetooth is going to give you a delay that’s too long to play with and you will be out of time with yourself. Very very difficult.
      You can pick up a basic USB mixer or audio interface now for around £40-50 and then have the Apple Camera Connection adapter to plug in the USB of the Audio Interface into the iPhone.
      Have a look at this older video i did but the tech for audio interfaces has moved on and you can get better ones than the one in this video - th-cam.com/video/opa-xOGPaDM/w-d-xo.html

      I don’t have a physical launchpad. Been playing with the volumes and faders on my KeyLab49 mkii and it’s good. 👍🏻

      @War on Winter yes you are right. IMO, clearly the reason Audiobus 3 just never stood up to par with AUM or ApeMatrix. I was a bit shocked given the amount of credit AudioBus in general deserves... But now it makes sense. He probably realized there was no point in spreading his attention thin by trying to compete with such great tools anymore and that he should focus on turning Loopy into its own new DAW-like looper thing instead, as AudioBus was probably not something too inspiring to work in for him anymore. Loopy PRO is just its own beast, and I'm so glad AudioBus 3 was 'put to the side'. I honestly never use it and although it works just fine, it has never been as appealing of a tool for me as the other two.
      This however, is a must have that will probably get a lot of use from me in parallel with AUM and Ape, so a total win. Plus, realistically, if you can only get one of the three, Loopy probably is or will be able to do 99% of things in the future (for example, it's a bit more annoying to setup midi stuff through menus than through matrices, so I do miss the MIDI matrix and honestly would even love it more if there was an audio flux matrix just like with Ape. Those are powerful tools and probably why I won't completely abandon AUM nor Ape, but more like, use them in parallel and inject the results into Loopy PRO in real-time, which will become my new Host - haven't tested yet but can't see it not working).
      Sorry for my mega comment, just excited and completely agree with what you said lmao

      One thing that is apparent is a version of Audiobus is ‘built in’ to Loopy Pro to be able to do the routing. So many the ‘next’ version of Audiobus is kind of already here but packaged in a lovely looping app. 👍🏻 seriously, it’s a beast!

      @@JohnPaulMusicUK yes, exactly. No need to do the same thing twice with a complete different layer of UI code and graphics. I seriously doubt there will be an Audiobus 4 essentially, seems like it’s just gonna be loopy from now on :). And I would really not mind that at all :P

      @War on Winter yes, I’m so glad this is happening honestly. I can’t wait to mess with loopy extensively during the next few weeks 🙏🏼.

    Why did I pay for Loppy HD and not for Loopy Pro, when pro is far much better? What’s the catch?

    Thanks for the demo and very interesting … I wanted to organise some scenes and play them like in Ableton live scenes, but I cannot program a group to stop when another group has been triggered …?

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can if they are grouped.
      I’ll make a video on grouping and show its advantages. 👍🏻

      Yes there is. You can add a Bluetooth or midi control with the right connections.

    So I took your advice Thankyou. (I sent you the beardyman clip)
    Omg loopy pro is absolutely a dreamy fantastic audio playground. I am so impressed.
    I don’t even loop 😂
    What I’m interested in is live dub mixing …
    Thanks for the nudge towards loopy 👍🏻

    after beta testing one thing I have had trouble with is: recording the widgets into the sequence view. when I go back and listen to the sequence whatever the widget was controlling (balance for instance) is just in the last state of that widget touched. any thoughts?

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is something Michael (who made Loopy Pro) is working on apparently.
      I think that if you are part of the beta team, mention this about widget automation and see what the roadmap is. 👍🏻

      You can record the audio of other apps into Loopy Pro. You cannot do it with Loopy HD unless you use Audiobus or AUM.
      Midi recording and midi sequencing is coming to Loopy Pro soon.
