In Erinnerung an vergangene, wunderschöne Zeiten.
Nico is the first dark queen her voice is echoed in the two subversive girls who followed her trailblazing in the 70s . Patti Smith & Siouxsie Sioux. A true unique artist with an incredible body of work and the demon voice to match.
An absolutely stunning performance, cuts right to the essence. The band too is incredibly tight, not a note or beat in vain. Throughout her career she always had superb musicians backing and supporting her - this not because she had the financial means to buy them, but because they recognized her unique and difficult talent and tried to make it happen in the studio or on stage.
My favorite track on "Drama of Exile" - but this live-version of this song is even better - just fantastic! What a great voice and lyrics! Thanks for posting this gem!
Thank you bjork for listing her as a favorite. Somehow I missed out on her when she was releasing her records. It's never too late though for discovering great artists. the CD of this performance is really great sounding, I haven't watched the DVD yet, saving it for the right time. Also recommend Patti Smiths book just kids. She gifted Nico with a harmonium after her original one was lost. not much about Nico in just kids but it is a compelling picture of those days in NYC and shared experience
Your comment has just reminded me that last night I dreamt I was on the street waiting for a procession to pass by...I was quite excited because Nico was in it singing and so I looked into my bag to take my video camera to record it all when suddenly appeared Patti Smith shouting at me because video recording was not allowed...I was completely disappointed and then I shouted at her how the hell she wanted to make history if she didn't let me record it...omggggg😯😯😯😯😯🤔🤔🤔🤔😅😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It wasn't lost, it was in a pawn shop and was going to be sold because she couldn't afford to buy it back out, so Patti rescued it for her. Still really cool either way! The book "Nico: Songs They Never Play on the Radio" is brilliant! If you haven't already, give it a read. It is funny in equal parts sad.
she had great presence and her voice was so stark and beautiful, i dont know what happened to her or what she went through in her youth but she was so haunted and it is heartbreaking. she never seemed to have found the people that could help her.
i don’t know what it is that i love the most about nico’s music. her vocals, to my ears, are gorgeous. i just love how she sounds. the songwriting is stellar and ugh man i’m 16 i wish i could have seen her live in the late 70s/early 80s
she was so fresh and original compared to other artists at the time. i wish she was still around, along with lou reed. two great artists with two great careers. RIP
this is coming from me, someone who has always obsessed with underrated, great music from this time period. nico really is fading away which is sad because she was so talented and deserves her recognition for her music and looks.
Wow! Just found this clip - my favourite song on Drama. This is the same band she visited New Zealand with so I'm thinking it's gotta be on the same trip. Her show in Chch was completely mesmerising, she loved the attention and appreciation she got from the crowd that night and delivered one of the most intense performances I have ever witnessed. Highpoint being an acapella rendition of Femme Fatale. Thanks for posting this film.
Will there be another time Will there be another time Another year Another wish to stay Will there be another time Will there be another time Another year Another wish to stay When the evening light Wants to be so bright And the morning sound Is out of sight Can there be another word to say Or do we have to give it all away Many moons have to be found At certain times You'll hear them pound You can hear the hell bells praying Many moons have to be found At certain times You'll hear them pound You can hear the hell bells praying It is for granted Hear their saying How all chant their staying Focussing on running down the drain And these tears are carved inside your brain New York lower East side fame In a golden circle game New York lower East side fame New York lower East side fame In a golden circle game New York lower East side frame Standing everywhere around The fastest way to be found At least I've given it away To keep it only would have made me stay Will there be another time Will there be another time

She was like that long before Joy Division - listen to her stuff on the Velvet Underground "Banana" album, or her first solo LP Chelasea Girl, or The Marble Index album. She was unique.
for me Nico became more impactful than the Velvet Underground or John Cales solo career. She was amazing.
The first goth, defined alternative and the berlin scene
In Erinnerung an vergangene, wunderschöne Zeiten.
Indeed she was really up against it, a struggling artist who wasnt embraced like her contemporaries
Une vraie artiste. En live, pas de play-back. Elle chante avec ses tripes. Intemporelle
Vrai.
I have always love her. Her voice is like a cold steel in my brain, without any pity and real as the abyss of truth. I love her
She was amazing. I am so grateful for her contribution to music. She makes that deep sad part of us all beautiful.
What they said ..
So beautifully put. Thank you sir!
Yes, really amazing? Are broken women/people really that great? Isn't that encouraging even more destruction of humanity?!

Girls?
One of the greatest music of all time and Nico is something special
Wow how have i never seen this!? Thank you for posting!
The First gothic singer, and the greatest
"another year, another wasted day" hey thats me now! probably was before...didnt know it. Thank U Nico.

This is totally true a unique musical genius in this work and great live band who really supported her.
I'm the drummer on this and you'e right - she was unique and incredible to work with. i miss her still.
Love this song. Thank you Nico.
Pure sentiment, love forever Nico, the dark goddess
My favorite track on "Drama of Exile" - but this live-version of this song is even better - just fantastic! What a great voice and lyrics! Thanks for posting this gem!
I totally agree. It sounds absolutely fantastic!!!
LOVE, LOOOOVE, LOOOOOOOOVE
This blows me away ever time i hear it, she was fantastic, a true original
What can you say about Nico? Incredible talent and beauty, enigmatic, and so tragic.

Great performance, Nico giving it all.
She's got amazing timing while singing.
Of all the people i wish to have seen live, surely number one
My hero
Discovered her today,,,,amazing
She has such a haunting voice i love it .
Lauren Leyva seems hipnotic init?
Love the video, keyboard, drums and Nico’s unique voice!
she had great presence and her voice was so stark and beautiful, i dont know what happened to her or what she went through in her youth but she was so haunted and it is heartbreaking. she never seemed to have found the people that could help her.
Great performance of a great song.

Just absolutely beautiful....my favourite singer.
She is divine.
a true germanic Goddess
Hermosa voz hermosa mujer.

From over the wall and into your arms, ladies and gentlemen NICO !!!
Her music is undeniably spine tingling
thank you
I just find this to be very relaxing.
I like what Morrigan says. What can we say about Nico?
Will there be another time
Will there be another time
Another year
Another wish to stay
Will there be another time
Will there be another time
Another year
Another wish to stay
When the evening light
Wants to be so bright
And the morning sound
Is out of sight
Can there be another word to say
Or do we have to give it all away
Many moons have to be found
At certain times
You'll hear them pound
You can hear the hell bells praying
Many moons have to be found
At certain times
You'll hear them pound
You can hear the hell bells praying
It is for granted
Hear their saying
How all chant their staying
Focussing on running down the drain
And these tears are carved inside your brain
New York lower East side fame
In a golden circle game
New York lower East side fame
New York lower East side fame
In a golden circle game
New York lower East side frame
Standing everywhere around
The fastest way to be found
At least I've given it away
To keep it only would have made me stay
Will there be another time
Will there be another time
She was amazing

cool !!
💥💓
when she showed up in La Dolce Vita I nearly had a heart attack
She had the power of make touch with hand her pain and make feel like ours
Nicooooooooooooo
👍

even Her NAME was cool,,,,,
N I C O : I C O N
Almost too beautiful and poignant to bare... stunning.
Stunning.....what a voice...thanx for this amazing live song
Think Alan Wise (Nico's manager) who was from Manchester gave her some Joy Division albums to listen.
She was like that long before Joy Division - listen to her stuff on the Velvet Underground "Banana" album, or her first solo LP Chelasea Girl, or The Marble Index album. She was unique.
One might argue that gothic music began with Nico's 1969 album The Marble Index.
Is she contralto?
Did Alain Delon attend this show ?
N I C O : I C O N
she dies too young. Pure talent, sad.
Cutting edge art is better understood in retrospect
NCO
the performance was a bit doped up.....
Marianne Faithfull has tried to sing like her in the 1990s and in the 2000s like a pastiche of nico
saw her in 84 , this was just 2 years before she died. an enigma. and yes band is terrible
I did not think her band was terrible. She had a fantastic jazz pianist. Nico would have not tolerated sub-par musicians.
I do not like hrr voice...
That's your problem.
We don't care.
Bore off.
