It has been frequently commented how the failed parading of Meleys' head damaged the mythical reputaiton of the dragons and their Targaryen riders, but calling in Dragonseeds from all backgrounds propably does just as much damage. Now it is not exclusively a sacred bond between dragon and Targaryen, everybody whose ancestor had a fling with a Valyrian descendand might get a ride.
The dragonseeds ARE targaryen. If not by name then by the blood of the dragon in their veins. Perhaps there will be isssues with BASTARD dragon riders, but certainly not just because someone isnt targaryen, Laenor and Laena are two dragon riders whos forebear (their dad) married a dragon rider. If people have no problem with them why would they have a problem with the dragon seeds over that. In the books, the dragonseeds are from Dragonstone, where they all likely are the products of or the descendants of a targaryen lord taking a womans virginity on the first night of her marriage, these children were considered blessed and akin to gods.
I politely disagree with you. This was not damaging as you think, many will die trying to claim a dragon while just a few will be able. Meanwhile Criston Cole destroyed the perception that dragons were gods and Targaryens as well.
The advantage of jaces idea is that it gives them a better chance against the greens and in winning the war. However it has a lot of disadvantages. A dragon is only loyal to its dragon rider. What if the dragon rider betrays rhaenyra and joins the greens? Then you have another enemy dragon to deal with. Its even worse if its one of her better dragons. It also makes dragons look less special and it shows that anyone with targeran blood can ride a dragon, not just someone from the royal family. The Targarens suddenly aren't so special anymore as a result. Also when the war is won, how do you reward these dragonriders? They can't forced to give up their dragons, so they end up becoming part of the nobility, they set up their own houses and eventually they become powerful enough to challenge or even overthrow the targerans, just like the hightowers have tried to do. Jaces idea has a short term benefit, but in the long run it will cost them very dearly.
The risk is great. However, at this moment, they have 2 dragons that could greatly benefit their war effort collecting dust. They need to win the thrown first, worrying about future challengers and threats once you have it is part of ruling. The riders themselves can always be inducted into the Targaryen royal family through marriage. It's risky, but as Jace said, "it's better than death and defeat."
@@supernaturalawesome1 facts. I just hope that they choose people that are loyal to rhaenyra to be Dragonriders, because if they're not it could be disastrous. I hope rhaenyra and Jace are aware of the downsides of this plan.

Ramin Djawadi's work is on point as always. I just noticed the music that starts playing at 1:41 starts off as an instrumental version of the song Daemon sings to Vermithor in Season 1.
I love this new development. Increasing the fantasy element by introducing side characters, who are among the "little folk," that will be called upon to accept their forgotten heritage and ride dragons 🐲 EPIC 😆👏
It's not new, it's already exist in the book. And they're called as Dragonseeds not little folks, but yeah it'll be epic, we will got more dragon fight in the future.
@bbbm5284 I am looking forward to the future dragon fights 🐲😆 What I mean by "little folk" is the ordinary, non-royal population that lives under the royals. They're referred to as little or small folk by the nobility all the time. Many Dragonseeds are among them and currently suffering because of this war.
“Meleys fought two dragons and one of them is slain” … did they canonically kill Sunfyre in the show? Or is Rhaenyra just misinformed in this scene? Cole had said earlier in the episode that Sunfyre “was long in the dying” (or something like that). I wonder if they both just assume Sunfyre died or if the show is going a different route than the book … cuz we know Sunfyre’s supposed to have a big part to play in the end of the war …
I think a big theme they're going with in the show is how history can be distorted and rewritten all on the part of victors/historians/rumors/maesters, at least with the way things have been going so far(aemond accidentally killing luc instead of it being straight up murder).. interested to see how the incident you're referring to and the rest of the dance will play out here
So it was his idea to find dragonseeds but he is angry when those found where born from commoners and are uncultured? Should have teach them well then. Sympathy is most likely an effective tool in keeping loyalty if so those 2 would not been turn coats.
The main issue wasn’t the “uncultured“ aspect of the dragonseeds, but the fact that they were bastards. Jace has been labeled a bastard his entire life, and by proving that you don’t need to be a full-blooded Valyrian to claim a dragon, it undercuts his exclusive right to be heir to the throne.
they made a big mistake by putting eggs beside actual Targaryens since they were born. Now you have a situation where you have to wait at least 50 years for your dragon to grow into a formidable size when they could’ve just claimed silverwing, vermithor or any big dragons. Sure those dragons could simply refuse them but it’s better than waiting a long time to have a big ass dragon. The Greens would have been screwed if they had been given dragon eggs instead being allowed to claim older dragons.
I personally don't think Daemon would have approved this move. It's very dangerous. And I don't understand how she didn't talk first to Daemon about it before taking this decision. No one knows Dragons and men's greed more than him.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl I don't think trust has anything to do about Dragons with Daemon. He knows Dragons and bonding more than anyone else. That's a fact. This was a bold move but very dangerous one. Time will tell

Not ancestry per se, but women take on husbands' last names. So if a mother is of Targaryen blood then it doesn't really matter if a child is called Tarly or Mallister or whatever
Don't forget, the Targaryens were present in Westeros for over a hundred years before Aegon's Conquest, the Velaryons and Celtigars even longer. At least in eastern Westeros it is propably easier to count those nobles who have not a few drops of Valyrian blood.
