I live in Turkey and want to make this for my in-laws but naartjies are not in season.. is there anything else i can use as substitute? Also oranges not in season🤷🏻‍♀️☹️ i do have orange essence could that work?

You can leave the naartjie peel out. That’s just extra flavour. I wouldn’t recommend adding orange essence 😊

When naartjies or oranges are in season, you can grate them and freeze it.

Can use Mandarin (naartjie) zest in New Zealand.

This is slightly different to how I know - I've always used eggs, going to give this version a go! Thanks
