I made your recipe for the first time and I must compliment you it's first class. My family enjoyed them. I got 70 out of my batch the same ingredients the way you explained it. We used to actually buy them from our neighbor(Mrs Davids) on a Sunday morning as well she used to made watermelon confeit, the best. I actually once did make these koeksisters myself and they weren't half bad. Dankie en totsiens.

Yes, they do. Just take it out to defrost for an hour or so before syrup. If I'm in a hurry, I pop it in the microwave for a few seconds before I syrup.

@angelikamatheson5544 hi it doesn't make a difference I think in the video I said u can use more or less of the spices it's to your taste it's a very old video I don't really measure when making for myself but even if u use 2 tablespoons won't make a difference the only ingredient I would stick to 1 tablespoons is the ginger cause it's very strong

Sorry just to clarify Do I defrost for a couple of hours on kitchen counter or defrost in the fridge for couple of hours then syrup? This is probably a stupid question but I’ve never made these before so I want to make sure that I do it correctly x 🥰❤️

Do these came out with lots of airbubbles? I've always bought from this uncle in Burwood road that made the best koeksisters but since moving abroad I miss it and have tried few recipes... What does potatoe do in the koeksisters I've seen a few recipes with this in? Are these soft the next day as well or even hours later?
I never sold these, so I can't say, but u should work out the cost of your ingredients, your electricity, then you should be able to come to a price where u make a profit

Mine came out very stiff... Almost like it was stale. And I just made it today.... What did I do wrong? Did I fry them too long? What's the trick to getting them pillow soft and to stay like that after a few hours.
Perhaps your dough was to stiff it should be a very soft dough after frying u will have a crisp outside but soft fluffy inside but after standing for a while they will become very soft it's not supposed to be stiff or hard, I think your dough was to stiff in the video u can see how soft my dough is, next time make sure your dough is very soft and don't knead to much,after adding all your ingredients it should be soft and sticking to your hands then add some oil to your hands and rub the oil over the dough,also try to watch the entire video to see the texture of the dough before and after frying.
The ingredients is in the description box method in the video,u have to measure your flour correctly if your dough is to stiff u will have dry hard koesisters it should be very soft
