- My 2000 Jeep Cherokee barely has any heat and after trying a new thermostat, and flushing the old heater core without success it was time to pull the dash out and install a new heater core!

Great vid man! Watched yesterday morning then did mine last night. I was dreading the box studs stripping but they all came out.. got lucky the whole job went super smooth and only took me about 3 hours! Thanks for the vid!
Right on man! Glad it went good!
Great video! You have everything covered! You are articulate, concise and easy to follow! Thanks!
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
So at 8:35 I stopped the video. Ain't no way Jack! I have heat but summer is coming and the A/C evaporator is shot in mine. Looks like it'll be another hot summer! 😂😮 Wow what a chore to do this. Great video too. My screen door is thankful.
Thanks man haha, good luck this summer
First off i want to thank you for taking the time to post this. This job was not for the faint of heart. Even with the help of the video it still took me almost 16 hours worth of trouble. Just got it finished up a couple hours ago. Did such a good job i got a pile of left over nuts and bolts. I must be a professional 😂 thanks again you saved me alot of BS
You got it man! Glad it helped!
Awesome video man! Very knowledgeable! Doing mine this week sadly. Moved to Alaska and it's a little chilly up here with no heat!
Thanks man! No doubt, good luck!
Looks like a tuff job 💪
Definitely a pain!
Awesome man, lookin forward to this. Doesnt look bad at all, just lots of steps 😂 thanks for the vid! Ill return when im done and let you know how it went 😅
Thanks for watching man! Hope it goes alright haha
@JeepinJimmy
I finally got around to doing this job.. Not bad at all. Could definitely use a 2nd set of hands getting the dash back in place but otherwise very easy.
I wound up removing the lower stud that goes behind the head. Wasn't wrenching that sucker back on😅 If you had a flex head 11mm it would go a lot easier but that's 1 I don't own 😂
Thanks again for the guide. You've definitely covered the job perfectly.
Hey man great video!
Thanks!!
Might as well replace the AC evaporator ? Thanks for posting. Will tackle this this month, but I am taking a few days off to do this. Should be fun. Thanks again.
Not a bad idea if your AC actually works lol. Thanks for watching!
good video!
Thanks!
Great video brotha. Got quoted $2000 so this will defiantly help.
Thanks dude! Dang thats a bill!
@@JeepinJimmy dash is out one stripped bolt under the hood and AC lines won’t come off. Other than that, everything‘s going smoothly thanks man. I’m at the walk away for the day point. Haha
i have one of those funnels what a life saver
For sure!
I'm exhausted just watching😂
It's a lot haha
I guess if you don't know if the AC condenser is good this would be a good time to replace it too
another helpful video - great advice ! Any chance to get the upper/lower studs off behind the valve cover without damaging ?
Thanks man! If I had to do it again I would use hand tools and be a little more careful taking them off. My lower one was bent front when I installed my engine so it was doomed from the start lol
I have a XJ . . . no screen door. I'll put one on the list.
Good man
I have to do this on a 1988 what a pain in the ars
Awesome video! I just had a question, Do the coolant hoses affect the heater core? Are they connected at all?
Thanks man! They do connect. The 2 pipes on the heater core are whats sticking out of the firewall that connect to your heater hoses. 1 goes to the thermostat housing, and the other goes to the water pump.
After you cut the foam seals around the blower and ac/heater pipes to seperate the heater housing, how did you seal it back up? Did you replace the foam or...?
Just kinda put it back as is haha
Great video! How long did this take you in real time?
Probably about 4 or 5 hours
Right after you hear, "All you have to do..." you should go to the bank for a second mortgage and find a good shop to do this for you. However, this is excellent info. I wonder why Jeep decided to build the entire car around this item. Wouldn't it have been nice to have it on the engine side of the firewall?
What heater core did you use? Getting ready to tackle mine while the engine is out
It was the summit racing brand one. Part number SUM-382200
Would anybody have an idea how much a shop or mechanic might charge for this ?
800-1000
Great vid! Just justified paying someone else to do this hahaha!!
Thanks man! There was a dude somewhere in the comments wondering how much a shop would charge, I had no idea. Thanks for watching!
@@JeepinJimmy quote was $1000.
Did you really have to take out the entire interior to do this or are you just flexing?
This was no flex😂 The seats wouldn't have to come out, but I already had them out
Looks like a nightmare to do,,,
Tis
Called a 1000.00 to have this done on a 99 jeep cherokee sport I paid 1100 for . Doing it at home
i smell the slightest amount of coolant in my cab on my 93 grand cherokee i think its the heater core and im pretty sad about it lolol
Yikes!
Can an amateur do this in a day?
It might be a long day, but you can do it!
I do have a screen door 😂
Me too buddy😂
Gonna change my heater core next winter , my heat still works
Just smokes and leaks
Imagine paying 1k bucks on seats and not getting new vinyl floors to match
Bro no wonder your projects dont get finished. All your fabrics have to match😂
@@JeepinJimmy my projects aren't done because they waiting on you to come fix them 😂😂
Holly sh!t...Don't try this at home. Very scarry!
Man that seems like a terrible job lol
It sucked😂
