Somehow tech isn’t made to be perfect. We can seemingly all agree on the fact that even devices have their own set of flaws that can be difficult to ignore. We appreciate this channel for keeping with consistent content all throughout.
The full story of the Sinclair C5 hardcore fail is comedy gold - at the big press event to launch them, they had the reporters try them out, and half of them didn't work. Also, the idea of taking these on the road was ludicrously dangerous when you're so low to the ground, can't see past other vehicles, while also getting a faceful of exhaust fumes.
Don't forget the lack of a roll bar. Even low speed vehicles can easily tip over, lets say for example if one wheel fell into a pothole or off a gutter.
Fun fact: In the chess game Arun “played” against Milo, the latter played what’s called a scholar’s mate. It is one of the fastest and easiest ways to win a game of chess, however it is also very easy to defend against, meaning that an experienced player like Arun would never actually lose like that.

I think what's odd is Arun didn't even mention the fact that one of the big factors in Google+'s failure was how Google _forced_ it onto people, most notably with it's shoved-in integration with TH-cam, essentially combing your YT account (especially those who've had the account _at the very beginning of the platform_ ) with a useless "social media" account.

Aereo was great, I watched a Super Bowl when they were in operation. It’s not like they foolishly ignored broadcasting rights. In fact there was much discussion of their tactic at the time, they thought they had a loophole. They’d receive over-the-air TV broadcast and distribute them in their virtual “cable” network; they figured they could do that. And they had a good argument, but it was up to the courts to decide. Sadly the courts decided against them.
Exactly. If I remember correctly, the reason they had thousands of tiny antennas instead of a single one is because they were giving each of their subscribers a dedicated antenna. I believe a loophole like that would have worked if it was common people being screwed over and not big broadcasters. Also, if you are going to say Aereo was a 7/10 failure, what was CNN+? At least I got a feeling of schadenfreude with the latter.
My family actually had one of the samsung washers that got affected, they opted to get it fixed, which amounted to some guy coming to the house, presumably sticking something in the top to keep it from ejecting violently, and plastering on an extra warning label... that washer proceeded to die not long after when the spindle that holds the drum wore out and it started to sieze. (i think it was less than a year after the repair that it went out)
There was also a recall on some Samsung Dryers where they would catch fire. I'm surprised that was never mentioned. For that recall, Samsung would actually ship you the parts (and very poorly written instructions) to do the "repairs" yourself.
Now, the Sinclair C5 may seem ridiculous to many... but as a disabled person who had to live without a car for 5 years, this would have been ideal for me during that time. I never understood why they redesigned the easy bake oven. My sister had one as a kid and while the more conveyer belt style design that looked like a pizza oven from Dominos may feel dated, it had the added benefit of not having ANY WAY to get your hands stuck. I know they wanted it to look more like a normal oven - so why not just have an actual door, like an oven, that folds down? And yeah, one thing I always gave credit to the easy bake oven for was the included ingredients and stuff actually made a really tasty cake. You can make a similar one in a cup in a microwave, but you get the idea.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16, 17.
That was actually a pretty good idea, the conveyer belt thing. But it seems like that yeah, with the getting one's hand stuck, even a normal oven would be safer. At least in that case you could pull your hand out unless it was stuck in the oven's contents. And even then, you'd REALLY have to screw up to have that happen to you.

11:13 "well before people thought of electric vehicles as a way of transport"? But wait a minute, electric vehicles were available before gas vehicles 😅
@Mass No you aren't right, Trams and Trolleys are electric and they are just as fast as cars. Electric trams were invented in the 19th century and Trolleys were invented in the early 20th century
Arun, here's bit of insight into the Samsung exploding washer situation: these models basically used the same main mechanism and why they exploded was because during the product testing, they didn't try out waterproof mattress covers as testing material. Due to the super high RPMs that these rotated, instead of water being pushed out quickly (for faster drying later on), waterproof mattress covers trapped the water instead, creating effectively centrifugal force water bombs due to unbalanced loads that would occur
I sat in a Sinclair C5 once, and it was so oddly designed... the handlebars were under your legs and it was so low that a van could hit you and not even notice 😂
I actually think Google+'s idea of circles is really good. You may want to post some stuff for your friends to see but not your coworkers and vice versa.
On FB, you can select which group of friends will see a particular post, but watch what you say on public posts, because FB will share your comments on news stories with your friends randomly!
@@tom1644x That ability to select which group of friends see a particular post was a direct response to Google+ Circles. Before Circles pushed them to change, FB only had public (everyone) or private (all friends can see) visibility for posts.

You should talk about Samsung and the burj khalifa. They made it, making it tech, and the building is a disaster. The plumbing requires an ocean of trucks with septic tanks to manage and there's so much more that's bad with it.
I used to have the moviepass when it first came out, and it was amazing. They didn't even take 2 seconds to think of the consequences though. They were bleeding money from almost every member that they had. Anyone who went to the movies once a month was basically making them lose money.

At about 16:15, you talk about how the robot broke the child's finger. IN MY OPINION I feel like it was kind of the child's fault. When researching more about the topic, I realized that there are specific rules that the child should have followed but he didn't do so. Looking at the sources, the child acted quickly and didn't wait for the robot to complete his turn. As a result, the robot thought his finger was the chess piece. HOWEVER, the manafactures of the robot, should have added better techonology to avoid this incident. But the kid should also realize that if you break rules, then there are certain consequences that you have to go through. Great video btw, and I love seeing your content! Also please note that this is only in my opinion and I don't wish to offend anybody. I am simply stating what I think.
oh, "PDA" reminds me of an Adult comic where "PDA" actually stood for "Public Display of Affection". they were groping each other under the table in a restaurant...
9:20 That Apple maps thing was actually looking at the parallel universes, the SCP foundation was called in and a false flag operation was launched in order to uphold the masquerade protocol.
The Sinclair C5 sounds like a toddler's toy to me😂. I remember when me and my sister used to play with a similar looking toy which needs to be handled with a steering wheel.
When I was little (in the long long ago of the 80s), I had inherited a Holly Hobbie oven, which was essentially an Easy Bake oven but shaped like one of those old timey cast iron stoves like you'd see on Downton Abbey. My sister had had it before me, so it was from the 70s. It was just slots on two sides that you slid your pans into (and we just used regular cake mix, we didn't buy special Easy Bake Oven mix). We never burned ourselves on it. But then back in the day, we were also using the real stove by ourselves. I'm going to guess that the kids burning themselves were probably shielded from the stove and unsupervised with the Easy Bake, so they had no experience like "don't touch the hot pan" because it seems really weird to me that suddenly a toy that's been around for decades is more dangerous than it used to be. xD
“You only spank a child when they’re still in diapers - it gets their attention before they’re about to do something dangerous, like reach out to a hot stove.” Literal quote from mum. “I won’t take my child to anyone’s house if they don’t have children because it won’t be child-proofed.” Quote from a(n ex-) friend. Parents would rather secure the world than (heaven forbid) actually monitor and parent their children. If this reply has offended you, dear reader, get off TH-cam and parent your children.
@@annamahous1370 Well... easier said than done. Especially today, what with all the content floating around that may not be suitable for a child to see. It's not 1983 anymore.

The person who came up with the Easy Bake Oven really be like: “Hey you no what, we should make an oven that kids definitely can’t trap or burn their fingers,” and everyone just went ahead with it.😂

The Neuton was a fantastic piece of hardware. I used mine for a solid 10 years. I only replaced it with a Palm Pilot when that finally became a better product.

FYI: The death of Google+ was cumalative but the final nail in the coffin was the huge data breach in 2016. I still miss it, it was far superior than Facebook. I met a lot of folks and communities as well as far more mature conversations there that are totally gone now. I refuse to partake in Facebook or other social media today.

Surprisingly, I got to take part in more than half of these tech fails. I even found a Google Newton device in my cupboard some time ago, it was probably bought by my dad when it came out. And so with the rest. It seems I've got some inherited taste for tech failures, which seems kind of upsetting ☹

I actually think Google+'s idea of circles is really good. You may want to post some stuff for your friends to see but not your coworkers and vice versa.
Yeah, either it flopped because the audience didnt want or because of bad execution
On FB, you can select which group of friends will see a particular post, but watch what you say on public posts, because FB will share your comments on news stories with your friends randomly!
yeah, but they should have made a checkbox like with youtube playlists instead of slowly dragging it one by one
@@tom1644x That ability to select which group of friends see a particular post was a direct response to Google+ Circles. Before Circles pushed them to change, FB only had public (everyone) or private (all friends can see) visibility for posts.

Hey Arun. How many research teams do you have? You go the extra mile to update us with things I never knew existed. Bravo.

16:32 part of reasons why Mr.whosetheboss videos are always so entertaining
The sinclair c5 is exactly the same as my Xaomi mi 1s e-scooter, which also has a top speed of 15mph, an open top design, and no reverse gear. Sinclair was so ahead of the times.

@@TheSultan1470 How exactly is getting off of TH-cam and parenting your child "easier said than done"??? The year is irrelevant. Parents should be supervising their children and teaching them basic life skills..... If parents had tried to raise children in the 1980s the way parents try to raise children now, most of us would have died before the 90's..... Sad enough that parents have taught their children that they should get awarded for minimum effort in life.....
