I can tell you that it matters to some people. Some people like that LeBron had so scandals and is a family man, some people don't care at all, and some people dislike how Ja conducts himself, and some don't care at all. The point is that it matters to some people, a decent amount, to the point that they have talks about this stuff in team selection. Gil of all people should know, because where he could go play after his gun scandal had something to do with that scandal, and not just ability. Sort of shows how unaware the guy is of public perception of people.

Nike wouldn’t pull their stars out of the Olympics for a player that is not yet established as a Jordan, or Lebron due to the risk of backlash from Morants incident being recent. Image does play a part, just ask AI, and Michael Vick. Once media gets a hold of a story/narrative, the mixed perception of society can make a negative, or positive impact. The suspensions, and not being on the Olympic team would be the distance created due to Morant being a risk factor.

Why be upset at Jrue being on the team when he's automatically the best perimeter defender, rebounds, guards 1-3 and plays seamlessly off ball. He said Jrue should be replaced by stars. Stars who thrive when the offense revolves around them, and they generally play little to no defense.. especially when they're not in a scoring rhythm. That's a recipe for disaster.
