I would say all positions on this particular team have offensive all-stars who can play lockdown defense, except at PG. That’s where Jrue comes in… just in case they run into a killer at guard who has their best game ever.
I also wouldn’t want any players who have streaky games. And for that reason, I worry about Booker being on the team sacrificing, being a role-player and not attacker. Or worse, having a bad game taking too many shots. I’m confident everybody else on the team will definitely shoot high FG% as usual.
The difference, Gil, is that back then international players didn't make up such a large percentage of the all NBA teams.

Well Booker is taller, can score just as much and has already contributed to a gold metal for them in the last Olympics. You could say Brunson has gotten better compared to last year but the fact still stands that one proved he could be on the team and win while the other didn’t yet. It was a no brainer he’d be chosen. Honestly in my opinion I just think it’s a hight thing with how they choose these players. Only a few exceptions were given when it comes to the Olympics but those exceptions were specific needs like Chris Paul for example. You can even look at a guy like Trea Young who barely got a practice roster spot due to that.

When you mentioned Kyrie has played with most of those superstars on Team USA then you answered your own question. Those players don’t want him on that squad. The entire reason theyve been trying to create "teams", is because 2000 and 2004 showed that just tossing out all stars didnt work. Look at that 08 team. Multiple players not on all NBA, but the team collective worked better as a unit. With that said, Kyrie should be on.
Jrue is the right player with his size, reason why they didn´t take Kyrie,Trae Young and Brunson. Size, defense , corner 3 and post up game are in his bag. This the same for Leonard , with his size coming for the bench for Lebron or KD, as a 3 or 4 in a small ball Line up. There are 2 players who can attack the international zone defense and the offensive glass. The big international are not Joking: Sabonis, Jokic, Giannis, Gobert, Wemby, etc... Beside they need a player to stay close to Donicic and Alexander and these too can do that. For me I would have take Fox instead for Haliburton. Fox with HIs speed can attack the zone. International game is really good, set play are really efficient so each nation needs of course star players and plug player.
