H1 steel, D2 steel, 1075 Carbon, 420C; Just Jul was completely frazzled trying to narrow it down, so to keep the video "short" they've also included for their AK'ers an honorable mentions list (Just for you and Jul). I do love it. Great blade. full flat with a thin edge. I actually love the look of a flat gray bead blasted finish, but it gets spotty very easily. I need to oil mine between carries. Great knife though. one of the best budget neckers IMO.

I dig neck knives. I have a custom made Magnum Works neck knife that I love but it is definitely more of a hike/camp neck knife. Would be sweet to win a more EDC model.

I think the Gnome is a neat design. I do also like the canvas micarta with red liners, and the blade is a fine size, but there is something off putting about a one finger knife. I mean I suppose you could get a second finger on there, but why not just put a second groove on there for good measure. It would still be very small...I guess its one that I would just need to handle before buying to see if I could actually operate it with the necessary level of confidence. Thoughts? anyone have one and love it?

Have you guys checked out the ColdSteel Mini Tac Bowie (49HCF) plain edge neck knife? What are your thoughts about it, if you have.
We liked it. It was actually another one we considered for the episode, but we figured since we already had a Cold Steel as #1 we really couldn't give Cold Steel another spot on the table. The mini tac bowie also had a lower end steel. Though it's only $22.49....(at atlanticknife.com *ding*), it definitely fit the budget category. We might do an episode just on Cold Steel neck knives (with the Mini Tac Bowie making an appearance). We haven't decided yet though.

Love my Penguin 🐧 and now it's going to be the neckmuck.
TOPS makes so many good compact fixed blades. I think the Poker sometimes gets overlooked, but I think Craig did an amazing job designing it, and the overall execution speaks for itself. I cant think of a better small USA made utility/defense hybrid option that gives you so much for the money. Probably my pick of the litter here. LOL H1 makes trade offs is putting it lightly. It was a revolutionary innovation when it was developed, but by todays standards...its a fossil. I see no reason to ever use H1 steel on a knife ever again when we have LC200N, Vanax Superclean, and CPM-Magnacut. H1 performs like 420 in every other area but corrosion resistance, and its more expensive to make than any of those others. NOT A GOOD STEEL. Please Spyderco, make an updated ARK. Great design.

Non budget at $139
yeah. its not highly functional, but a decent EDC strictly for personal defense. pricey for 1095 steel. There are better out there. Also you can get a clone (I dont support them, but just letting you know) on amazon for about 20 bucks. looks to be identical, although I think the steel (D2) is misrepresented. probably 440 or similar)

Some of those neck knives can be taken out of the sheath by using your thumb to push the sheath! You don't need to pull the knife out of the sheath >>and Didn't hear the prices on some of those knives --Maybe it's my hearing !
