      It's not simply a question of 'blaming immigrants', there are specific reasons why immigrants are disproportionately represented in the homeless community and simply ignoring reality by claiming that facts are racists may make you feel better, but does nothing to help them.

      I don't blame him. When you wake up, they'll put you on a bus or plane or train, drop you on the other side of the nearest border and act like they've done a good deed. All they've really done is uproot that person, left them once again with nothing, and they have to start all over again. The whole framing in this video of the govt officials lamenting that they can't just ship people en masse out of the country is absolutely disgusting.

    Shame on you BBC London! If I wanted to make a statement that all British people are mentally ill, I would find some schizophrenic Brits and make this biased generalization. I've been working in Chelsea and Westminster for over 7 years and had to deal with dozens of homeless people. As a matter of fact none of them were Eastern European. They were mainly British, Irish or from Middle East. And saying that there is a "good healthcare, housing and social services in Poland - he's choosing to sleep on the streets of London instead" is either a bad joke or an utter ignorance

  • @mysticwizard1943

    "We don't have the power to send them home." Jesus Christ, that's the guy in charge of a program that you'd think would seek to help homeless people? What home do you think they have to go back to? Why else would people choose to live on the streets in the UK if there options in their home country weren't worse? Wouldn't it be better for everyone if you helped them get a permanent place to stay and a permanent place to work, rather than the official policy to be "scoop em' up, ship em' out"? This whole story is so slanted in a way to get you to view homeless people as dirty and criminal. In a word, undesirable. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

    We should replicate the way Finland deals with Homelessness. It's the only EU country where Homelessness is in decline! Much of this is due to one NGO @t They take care of the constructing homes themselves, buy flats on the private housing market and renovate existing flats. The apartments have one to two rooms. In addition to that, former emergency shelters have been converted into apartments in order to offer long-term housing. Homeless people turn into tenants with a tenancy agreement. They also have to pay rent and operating costs. Social workers, who have offices in the residential buildings, help with financial issues such as applications for social benefits. The NGO receives discounted loans from the state to buy housing. Additionally, social workers caring for the homeless and future tenants are paid by the state. The Finnish lottery, on the other hand, supports the NGO when it buys apartments on the private housing market. The Y-Foundation also receives regular loans from banks. The NGO later uses the rental income to repay the loans.

    I initially voted remain, but as each day passes, I become more convinced that Brexit was the correct decision! We also need to leave the EEA as well.
    We need to criminalise this kind of behaviour. How did we get to the point that it is impossible to get them out? It is a huge burden on our economy and on the way that we want our cities and towns to look like. Just like in Venice, where the people are protesting the presence of cruise ships because it destroys the aesthetic way of the city. This is also a similar problem.
    We have populations of migrants who not only destroy the working people of this country, but also destroy the aesthetic of Westminster by choosing to be homeless in order to send more money back to Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria you name it! Eastern Europeans are now a new class in the liberal lefts beloved "protected victim classes" and it is destroying this country!
    Also kudos to Denmark for doing what they have done!

      There are hundreds of thousands of Eastern Europeans living, working and paying taxes in the UK. Only a small percentage of them sleep rough. Clearly, you've been brainwashed

    • @alexanderchan76
      @alexanderchan76 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ventolininhaler1583 Have you watched the video? Also I've seen Eastern Europeans homeless too. I agree that there are loads of Eastern Europeans who are good people, but they are not all what you say they are.
      In this video, the majority were clearly Eastern European. With regard to the Middle Eastern groups they are not bound by EEA rules because they are not citizens of any EEA country. But you're right about that, they regularly beg as a job and then when the day is done they leave in their Mercedes Benz (That actually happened). We should get them out too, either tend to be Middle Eastern or tend to be gypsies (from Romania).
      I'm not brainwashed I know firsthand because friends of mine told me including one who is the furthest thing from a racist and who has to work as diversity admin roles.

      @alexanderchan76 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TabsT-vy5jy English people are born in this country, we can't get them out. Homelessness isn't the problem in this case. Leaving or remaining in the EU isn't going to help the homeless either way, but at least in this scenario we decide how we run the economy when we leave which should help homeless people a lot more than staying in the EU. But the solution to homelessness isn't to bring in MORE homeless people from Europe. I have indeed volunteered in a soup kitchen and have donated to homeless charities.

    Why they have stop saying homeless people and prefer to say rough sleepers? Is it politically incorrect? No wonder why most U.K. citizens choose Brexit.
    Poverty and unemployment isn't a crime. It may sound stupid but some people indeed prefer to sleep in pavements even if the authorities provide them a shelter. Also the Church of England isn't poor. What does it do for these unfortunate human beings.
    UK is one of the richest countries in Europe. Many poor people all of the world that have the right for a better life in UK. Most of them are successful. But some of them fail. The result is misery, sometimes addiction to substances or easy money from criminal activities. It is easy to be a criminal when your life is worst than your life in a prison. You have nothing to loose.
