  • Since 2000, more than 27,000 migrants and refugees have died attempting the perilous journey to Europe. With an unprecedented number of people breaking through its heavily barricaded borders in 2014, the EU continues to fortify its frontiers.
In the fourth and final episode of Europe or Die, VICE News correspondent Milène Larsson arrives in Italy as the only extensive search and rescue mission in the Mediterranean is replaced with a border surveillance mission, effectively leaving thousands of desperate migrants adrift in the sea.

Why come to Europe? What’s the matter with a safe country in Africa? Now Italy’s not good enough. Why should they give you anything? You want everything handed to you on a plate. If your living in your own shit, can’t afford to feed yourself and scared for your life don’t have 10 kids and when you do get to a safe country don’t complain when they don’t hand you everything for free. What would your country do to me if I arrived there asking for handouts ?

This is a phrase that I invite you to copy and paste everywhere!
European union (regime) is based on 3 columns:
      1) PUBLIC DEBT CREATED BY NOTHING TO TAKE UP DEMOCRACIES
      2) ARTIFICIAL IMMIGRATION TO lower workers' salaries
      3) HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT FOR THE STABILITY OF PRICES
The ECB is PRIVATE the euro is PRIVATE
ALL THE MONEY IN CIRCULATION = public debt
THIS IS THE REAL REACTION OF THE MARKETS!

We know Vice is super biased... but you can't in one sentence say they ran away from the centers where there was food and shelter because they did not want to be fingerprinted and then in the very next sentence say the men have nowhere to go and no food or shelter. They were offered food they were offered shelter they just didn't want to be fingerprinted because then they could not commit their crimes and get away with them. and if that food & that shelter is not better than their Homeland they should not have come in the first place.

Vasting because NATO and some European Union states bombed Libya , NATO members France, Britain, Germany and Italy helped the US invade and destroy Iraq and NATO member Turkey arms terrorist in Syria - now people in EU and NATO countries wanna *bitch* and *moan* about the influx of immigrant's from those countries - now you have to feed the victims of your aggression - next time you should think before you leap .
Also - Britain, French and Germany along with the US has been arming Syrian and Libyan rebels, we still arm the current Libyan government - we also just recently gave the Syrian rebels TOW anti-tank missile - the spill-over from Libya destabilized Mali, Central African republic, and Kenya's country side - and lead to the rise of Extremism in Algeria , Tunisia and morocco -

Alexandru Dragan Basically without going into to much detail they simply turn the boats around and send back the boats to Indonesia where they embarked from. The ones that some how slip through and make it to Australian waters they send to offshore detention centers, with no chance or opportunity to finally settle in Australia. I think and don't quote me on this the government is now giving the asylum seekers the choice to go back to their country of origin or get sent to Cambodia. But with no chance to settle in Australia.

You know, Western Europe makes up only about 8% of the total landmass on Earth. Are you really telling me these immigrants cannot find a place in the HUGE continent of Africa or the rest of the middle east? Native European families do not have bottomless pockets, our lands combined are only a small fraction of the size of Africa, our own people cannot find steady work, yet we need to accept this constant, 24/7 onslaught of foreigners?

"The residents of the future "United States of Europe" will not be the People of the Old Continent, but a kind of sub-humans, products of miscegenation. He clearly states that the peoples of Europe should interbreed with Asians and colored races, thus creating a multinational flock with no quality and easily controlled by the ruling elite.
Richard Kalergi proclaims the abolition of the right of self-determination and then the elimination of nations with the use of ethnic separatist movements and mass migration. In order for Europe to be controlled by an elite, he wants to turn people into one homogeneous mixed breed of Blacks, Whites and Asians.

Thats what we did in America and many other places. Many people don't know that there is barely a way to legally immigrate to Europe out of a troubled area like Syria, as people may have lost their personal documents or have no access to a embassy of the country they want to migrate to.
The second way, seeking asylum, requires entering EU ground, which is in the first moment illegal but their only way.
Because of this every refugee can be called a criminal, even if he/she never harmed a fly. Also even high skilled, needed workers have to choose the illegal way, but are then stuck in the status of a refugee and can't work, even if their work is needed [at least in some countries]

While my heart goes out to the individuals that attempt this journey, I don't think that Italy should have to incur such collateral damage. I think that Italy needs to give notice to any ships or boats entering its borders and if they don't take heed to the warning, The Coast Guards should be allowed to destroy the vessels. I understand that the living conditions are atrocious and they are seeking refuge, However Many of the people fleeing are from WAR TORN countries and don't necessarily share the same ideology of Italians. So taking them in will only become problematic later on as they may never fully assimilate to Italian society. if however Italy should decide to take in refugees ,I would suggest only taking in children 6 years of age and younger, Higher probability of assimilation and young enough that their core values have not been ingrained yet, furthermore any religious brainwashing can be slowly expelled.

That EU is taking so little responsibility is absurd. There are no internal borders in most of the EU. So Europe needs to take some (most) of the responsibility for controlling its external borders. Most of the immigrants are not interested in staying in Italy or Greece anyways. It is a bit hypocritical of member-states who are the major recipients of the immigrants to demand that Italy takes care of the entire operation. This is EU's border, not just Italian. Europe needs to change its outdated state-based immigration policy and assume a common one. No state should be pressured to take up the immigrants but also no state should be forced to do all the work of border protection.

No offense but after you rescue them off of where-ever, please take them back to the port they came from for processing. First off, I'm not an European ... flooding these people into EU in the name of rescue is appalling. You can take 20 million of these guys a year and still not make a dent in the lives of people that need to migrate visa/statue because of war and dire living situation. Think for a minute: what kind of person will sit on a boat to leave their country risking death? The answer is harsh " the ones that have nothing to loose" or "the ones that are absolutely lost everything and death is eminent". What these guys are doing is denying the opportunity for people in need asylum the most.
Its sicking to see well built man in their teens, 20s, 30s and 40s coming on a boat in the name "fleeing" war. They may be a few that really need to exist out of their origin country immediately but one can argue this endlessly that there are others that need EU help more than these guys.
This is no different than heeding to Somali pirates. Paying them endless money for hostages...these guys are holding humanity and sad life story as hostage. This is not ok.
At the very least a create a asylum state (island) that disconnects any Auto EU entry thing... and process people there. Don't just haul them in...
In the end, people in sub saharan region needs our help. We are here for you and I'm here for you in what little ways I can do. Helping a handful that you randomly find on waters is not it. This is grave disservice to help only people in boats that are already rich enough to pay $1000.00 for a boat ride. I know what $1000.00 means in Africa. I have been there...

If a foreigner asks for a visa to immigrate to the US the only thing that will happen is a permanent rejection of any type of a visa (tourist, business, etc). EU member-states have similar policy. So there is NO line to wait in. There is NO way to immigrate legally for people from most countries.

*The government of Egypt is now calling for military help, since their neighboring country Libya was taken over by El-Kaida militias and Islamic State affiliated gangs who commit terror acts against Libyan citizens, foreigners and the state of Egypt. Who caused this?*
Libya was a stable and prosperous, mostly secular country under Gaddafi. The region is now completely destabilized just for the sake of the West having better access to Libyas natural resources. In 20 years those who are responsible for this debacle will admit, that the Coup against Gaddafi was a huge mistake.

nahimana willy Almost Correct. But it was not the whole of Europe or the entire European Union who pushed for a military Coup against Gaddafi. It was mainly: Great Britain and France. Germany for example tried to stay out of it and didn't send troops or jets to attack Libya.

i agree with the woman from Save The Children, cutting on humanitarian operations like Mare Nostrum is simply unacceptable, the lives of innocent people fleeing their suffering for a better life is priceless
shows how hypocritical and selfish the EU leadership is, so long as the folks in the union's ladders roll in the money they dont give a fuck and of course individual country's leaders arent much better
this is perhaps the best reason of why the world needs to unite completely under one banner and be divided only by zones, no borders

well i never said otherwise but Kennedy's quote is irrelevant
      let me explain
you should always do what you can for your people not your country, however your country should always do what it can for you, thus creating a cycle of retribution and social harmony between everyone
so Kennedy was wrong and with all due respect, his quote is worthless because it lacks wisdom especially for the 21st century and beyond

To anyone having negative opinions... unless you have built your own successful state from scratch without abusive any human rights, Or been in the kind of trouble that they have how can you really judge them? How can you judge anyone when the only reason your life is ok is that you happened to be born in a country that isn't and hasn't fallen yet? in some middle class family or a little wealthy. It's just luck you did nothing. Just let the world be the world and as for your self choose to either live your life happily in the safe bubble you were born in or take action and do some humanitarian work or something for someone else that needs it. It just seems pointless to debate sometimes when clearly if the problems in their countries got resolved no one would be trying to flee. But then again solving problems in some African nations (and not just Africa) requires power and money etc it's just a dream (But many labelled crazy have dreamed today's loved realities)

Italy is trying its best. If people escape from camps, ending on the street (without knowing that there are many NGOs ready to help them) there's nothing we can do. If people enter in our country without permission with an economic poupouse, there's nothing we can do but send them back. I'm really sorry for that woman who loose her child, but italian govenment can't provide for her right now, she was borned in the wrong place, but that's not our fault.

Been reading through some comments! This is a sad world, what happened to human empathy. If a mother/brother/cousin to any of you decided to leave a country or situation of distress, you guys would 100% be behind them. Sad that when we are not related to someone we can say “stay in your country”, “we didn’t ask them to come” , “send them all back”.
For all of you uttering these ignorant comments, try to think how you’d feel if your loved one was treated with such cruelty. In Gods eyes we are all equal, no one chose their circumstances, physical attributes, and fate. Kindness is so simple to offer, and can change a person’s life.
