    When people chide me about being a vegan they say why not eat what you want, you're going to die anyway. I say: No one lives forever and I'm not afraid of dying. What makes me really fearful is to live a life worse than death. He lived a life worse than death and turned it around. Kudos! Great interview.

    What a fantastic account of almost miraculous healing. Thank you Dr Taher and thank you Chuck for expertly allowing the story to be told. I’m a medical doctor who began whole food plant based eating when I discovered calcification in one of my carotid arteries. I wish I’d learnt about the wealth of evidence based research into nutrition years ago! No going back now!

    Coronary artery bypass is open chest surgery but it is not open heart surgery. A valve replacement would be open heart surgery. This is a remarkable story though. You have so many remarkable stories on this channel and I am grateful.

    What a shame Dr Taher had to find out about healthy diets and living from his illness rather than from his medical training. We need new doctors entering the profession with his zeal and knowledge for positive healthy lifestyles.

      Thank you for your insightful comment.
      I’m not saying that conventional medicine is not needed. But chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol are all man made. I’m now a resurgent physician treating the cause of the disease rather than the consequence of the disease, after it has happened.

    • @jimatsydney
      @jimatsydney 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@akiltahermd Thank you Dr Taher, yes I am very grateful to conventional medicine as without this I would have died from an infection 2 years ago but now I'm having to relearn decades of dietary misinformation from family, medical convention and government (at school we were provided milk in the class room) to fix medical conditions otherwise I should not have. Thank you for telling your story.

    It's never "too late" to get healthy. I went vegan at the start of this year and have lost so much weight, after decades of struggling with weight issues. I'd done heaps of research to find out once and for all what is the best diet, and can say that I've been more successful over the long term on a vegan diet than anything else I've tried. It's so filling it's actually difficult to feel hungry on it, and the weight has been dropping off effortlessly. Vegan is the vay to go!

    • @akiltahermd
      @akiltahermd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Citadel. Old age is not a limiting factor for changing one’s lifestyle !If I could start changing at 61 anyone can.

    • @citadelofwinds1564
      @citadelofwinds1564 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@akiltahermd , Indeed, sir. I did this at 62. Just had to wade through a lot of research, claims, hype, etc, to get at the truth. Research backs a vegan diet as being way healthier and safer than in the long run any of those high-meat fad diets.

    Dr. Taher said that when he came to America from India (about 30 years ago), he was “non-vegetarian”. Since vegetarianism was so predominant there, people who ate meat called themselves “non-vegetarians”. (vegetarian people did not call themselves “vegetarians” as it was just a normal way there. This is akin to to the fact that an American would not call himself/herself a “non-vegetarian”). Also even those who eat meat in India, do it only occasionally.

  • @blueberry4082
    @blueberry4082 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’ve heard this narrative from many Indians. There’s some deep naivety to believe in American dream in a way that Americans themselves don’t believe in that.
