Oh! I lived at Lake Mead and Lake Havasu with my ex- husband for three years in our Airstream (1963)! I loved it!!! We worked on a resort and could use the pontoon boats off season. ❤...the trailer was a 63, we were there in the late 80s.

It looks like part of the Painted Desert. The Landscape is beautiful. I've lived in AZ my entire life and have never been to the Painted Desert. Was in my 30's before I ever saw the Grand Canyon. The burros are so adorable. They're probably the wild-burros

pretty fun!! but I would need better tires and a more solid build to manage those roads. I've never done such a thing and my build has remained secure with all the traveling I've done, thousands of miles!! but when I get back home, I will secure things more than they are!! as usual, I wait for the problem rather than anticipate every problem possible. it's just the way I roll!!

What a beautiful day and location for camping. I love your team Lu chats. Yup those donkeys invade personal space. They could smell your good cooking. Hopefully Vegas light pollution isn't ruining your night sky. Quartzsite should give you gorgeous night skies. Beware the rains could be miles away from you and come down your wash. So check for rain even further away than your location. Stay safe and have fun...thanks for sharing!

😊caution to campers in desert...i am a free spirited type who has learned to be aware of my surroundings...for those who dont know...the desert is prone to flash flooding ..it can be sunny and come out of nowhere..sometimes up in higher ground where you cant even see it. Kingman wash can be dangerous..its a wash! Also at the start of kingman wash road there is a sign posted that reads 4 x 4 vehicles recommended and off road prohibited. That rocky road LuLu talks about can destroy the bottom of low riding vehicles...you can get stuck in sand...it can kick up rocks and if it rains the road can wash out or turn to impassable mud. Lightening strikes are killers out in the open. Donkeys kick and bite. Rattle snakes curl up on cool ground near water at night. And just as another person commented..dont announce where you are...there are dangerous people that prey on easy targets. When I was camping out at lake mead w my former boyfriend many years back...a family was killed out on a houseboat docked by shore for no reason. If you are camping in the desert you should have a gun and a satellite phone as cellular signals often cut out. Lulu If nothing bad has happened ..count yourself very lucky and know I am glad. But please be wise. This week a girl vanished out there. Be safe. And always let someone like rangers know where you are and have a check in time each day.

We are learning as we go. On our first long distance RV trip. I’ve been watching many of the you tube videos so I thought I knew everything. On our first day we had to stop at Walmart to pickup all the things we didn’t know we needed. The next day we were making a new list of more things we didn’t know we needed.

You need to go to 4 corners. It is the other tip of the state. It is where 4 states meet up. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado.

The one thing I would recommend to any newer traveler that boondocks is to invest in the proper tires if going on gravel /rocky roads.
Regular tires get trashed.

My husband and I just got back from doing a huge circle touring Nevada and Arizona and back up to the state We live. We visited Wheeler peak and Lehman caves in Nevada. Next we went to Havasu to see the London bridge. Next we went to quartzsite to talk with those living on BLM land, next to Phoenix, then page AZ to see glen canyon dam and horseshoe bend. Then up to drive the scenic route of 89 up through Utah. I left close to the time you did and I was hoping I would see you along the way maybe we passed each other but I enjoyed the thought that I was traveling having a good time the same time as you. Thank you for your lovely stories and posts

Girl, you have given me and my husband a geography lesson. We've always thought the Grand Canyon was in Colorado. You know? The Colorado river runs through it. I feel as embarrassed as I did my senior year in a new school while reading out loud in History class and pronounced Sioux as sigh ox. At least this time I can't hear the laughter. haha!! hey, I'm learning geography as I go along too!! I remember visiting my daughter for the first time, driving from Massachusetts to Iowa and when I crossed the Mississippi River I was like "what's that river doing all the way up north?" LOL
LOL...I was born in Iowa...my grandparents had moved to Sioux Falls, SD... when I was 2 or 3 they came to visit...the story told in the family was that I said "how can we go to sow foo if I don't have my jammies".
