  • The Suzuki V-Strom DL800RE is a road-orientated version of the DL800DE. They have by no means just slapped smaller cast wheels on a DE, there are many other changes to this machine to focus it on road riding! Join me as I test it out and compare it to the DL800DE.

Said the people who've never used one. And yes I've been on a 4,000+ mile trip on a sports-type motorcycle at a lot of that was expressway slog against wind with nothing to do but cover miles. If I didn't have a throttle-lock (not a cruise but the next best thing), my right arm would have cramped in agony. It's a travel bike, use travel features. They put cruise control on a S1000RR for crying out loud.

Great review there , bike looks amazing, but the best thing for me on your vid was your level of riding , you have great awareness of your surroundings in traffic, really good vision and proper shoulder checks and safe levels of progress, well done 👍

I test rode this bike a few days ago and can agree with all you said, it's a great Road Explorer bike in so many respects. However... and I think this is an isolated case - but mine started vibes at 4k, peaked at just over 5.5 and tailed off mostly by 6k, mirrors were affected at times & so riding at night might be a problem.. with this particular one.
That bike, cruise control and a taller screen must be a dream bike for so many.
Didn't realise you were so tall, wish I had your range of neck movement.

I picked up a 09 DL 650, so far, only put 50 miles on it, ive been impressed with it. Im coming off a 86 kawasaki concours which is wore out, the 09 feels very good. Behaves itself in the muck n dirt, nice n tall for my 6' frame, good power, my only complaints so far are the corbin seat the previous owner put on is *garbage*, the windscreen is a bad joke, and whomever at suzuki thought putting the the oil filter where itll eat crap in the far north needs a wakeup call. Workin on puttin a skidplate on it but aftermarket problems of course. Itchin to put hundreds of miles up the Campbell & Canol roads up here!
