Mossy is like the Fred Dibnah of motorcycles 👌🏻
He's a fun guy !!
Mossy Chops a new motor cycle blog. Nice one guy’s
Thanks, nice vid! More Mossie in the future, the man's a legend! :)
Thanks Larry 👍
I purchased a new Yamaha Ténéré 700 back in 2021 during lockdown, so no demos were available, and it was an excellent bike for the price, but it wasn't perfect.
THE PROS: the CP2 engine is fantastic, it's rated at 72bhp (54,0 kW; 73,4 PS), and has a torque figure of 68.00Nm (50.15lbf ft), which is more than enough power off-road, or on road; it sounds great; the commanding riding position; off-road ability.
THE CONS: extremely top-heavy; softly sprung suspension; foot pegs get in the way; tubed tyres (as mentioned); seat is hard; flimsy plastic panels; flimsy hand-guards; screen didn't adjust; the petrol cap doesn't have a hinge, and is not fixed in place, so you have to find somewhere to put it every time you fill up!
I would advise anyone to demo a Ténéré 700 before buying, especially if you're a short rider; I'm 6' 2" and even I found it a handful in certain situations. I had one very hairy moment riding through the centre of Wigan, on a main road during rush-hour. The road was badly maintained, it had sunk, and it had a strategically placed pothole at the traffic lights, exactly where a motorcyclist would put their foot down!
I would also ask yourself, do you really need an off-road bike, especially in the UK where there aren't that many places to actually go off-road? Maybe, you'd be better off with a sports tourer like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, or a 'tall rounder', such as the new Suzuki GSX-S1000GX sports crossover or a BMW S1000XR? Or, would a decent second-hand BMW GS be a wiser buy, with its lower centre of gravity, easily lowered seat, and there's the option of the lowered model?
I had my Ténéré 700 for a year, but went back to a sport bike, and I'm much happier. I hope my experience with the Ténéré 700 helps you decide if it's the right bike for you before you spend your cash.
A Riemann in Australia knows how to ride a Tenere too. Those Aussies have such a massive amount of country to ride around. Always great to hear Mossie, proper rider, I learned to ride bikes off road. Fitting mirrors and indicators to pass my test was a new world to me
Love Mossy, he's a real bloke and so entertaining - please make him a regular !!! 🙏
Mossy is an absolute legend. More Mossy please.
He's a bloody good guitar player too !!
Mossy is such an asset to you youtubers.Having Greg, yourself and Mossy could be the closest thing to Fools and Horses.Thks a ton.
Haha yeah I think could be superb 👍
You’ve bagged a good one there Chopsy, Chris Moss knows his bikes and is an absolute legend.
Great to see Mossy on the Channel - top bloke.
My humble suggestion, do the coast to coast he spoke about, you two & Greg. T7, Aprilia Tuareg and maybe one of the KTMs?
Good vid that one - enjoyed it.
Yeah that would be a fantastic adventure wouldn't it.. 👍
@@LambChopRides I’ll wave you off from the start!
Wooaaaaahhhh !! Hang on.... so no Vstrom, or Transalp ??
Why ?? Why would anyone DO that ????
Little Mossy can talk under wet concrete. Love it.
If you want to see the T7 ridden on its limit you have to check Ariemann1 and his new warhorse
Mossy, what a legend! Great video lads
Glad you enjoyed it 😁👍
As usual Mossy is the best in the business
Not forgetting Michael Neeves and Chris Northover!
Love mosseys knowledge and enthusiasm. Good stuff Mr chops.
Love the REAL takes fellas on these motorcycles and not the usual fluff on TH-cam.. appreciate yal! Ride safe!🤘🏿
Cant wait for the 3 way review🏍️👍. Another great entertaining, informative watch Chops.
Bring back mossy . I could listen to him all the time. His podcast with Teapot are legendary 👍🏼
Yes please to seeing more Mossy on LCR; then we'll wish you all a merry Chris Moss. 🙂

Great vid, thanks - Mossy’s always good value.
Good video as always , great to hear the legend that is Mossy sharing his thoughts.
More videos like this pls!! Both bikes are awesome
Had the pleasure of riding the Tenere 700 a few times with the guys from Rotor Adventures. Awesome bike to do everything on. Suprisingly nice to ride on road and feels great in the dirt. Just needs a bit of tinkering and a nice set of tyres. Love Mossy, absolute legend.
Love Mossy, great vid! 👍 Hope to see more of Mossy in the future on here. He is aways so entertaining...
I love the special mirror that just levitates as you ride along
Listen! Always good to see Mossy.

Yeah should be very interesting 👍
Great vid with mossie more vids would be good chops 👍
Great video 👍👍👏
That was quite an enjoyable video!! :) Au revoir indeed!
I could watch Mossy review anything and still enjoy it
mossy's great, it's good to hear someone from up north.
No disrespect to yourself mate and your fine southern accent 😊 great video, thankyou.
Haha none taken 🤣
Would loved to see more of Mossy on the channel, he always fits right in.
Yeah, this was fun, more please!
Great review chopsy, if you can do more with mossy on occasion I doubt you and\or viewers would mind, he’s a giggle and objective 💪👍👌
Great stuff Chopsy , good to see mossy there with you and a three way would be great .👍 tubed tyres are a pain if punctured I have to agree .🙁 😁👍
The outcome as to which is best was never in doubt but as discussed at the beginning the significant factor is the rider's skill.
Thank you for making this as it’s my exact dilemma that I’m blessed to be in.
Brilliant 🤩
Great upload both, im considering getting the tenere and its between this, GS and AT. I just need to decide if i will spend enough time exploring to swing it in favour of the XT.
Great real world review. Had a 2021 T7 that was unfortunately stolen recently. I've been looking to the current market for my next midweight adventure bike and have to say that I always return to the T7. It just ticks all the boxes out of the factory for me.
Great video as usual, I’m looking forward for the Ducati Mono test ride :)
How can you not want more Mossy 😂
Great stuff, yeah need to make Mossy a regular.
More Mossy, great to see him on the channel.
Great vid & comparison. What a combo too, Mossy & Chops. The Eric & Ernie of bike vlogging lol. He doesn't follow the script but he is entertaining lol. As for the bikes, I think it's clear the Suzuki's is the better all round bike IF you predominantly do road work but there's no contest off road, the Tenere's great & syperb value too. Dare I say it seems more fun than the Suzuki.
oooh a 3 way , looking forward to that
Can't believe the T7 has passed you by Chopsy, I've had mine nearly 2 yrs, and 10k miles and I still absolutely love it. Loads of other bikes that I'd also like to own, but I know I'd regret selling the Yamaha. Oooh and I like those little side deflector things, I'm having some of those !! Also liking the addition of Mossy, just his accent makes me laugh !!
Yeah the deflectors are great! 👍
You should try the world raid.....good offroad and long distance....nice vid...!
I'm quite looking forward to having a spin on the V-Strom 800 DE soon
Yeah it's good Pete 👍
Brilliant, obviously had a lot of fun and great insights from both of you . The Yamaha gets the nod from me, a well balanced bike don’t need electronic wizardry.
Each to their own - but I’d have tubes over tubeless when I ride off road.
It only takes about 5 minutes to fix. (I carry spare tubes)
Does tyre seal (Ultraseal, Slime) work well in inner tubes for off-roading?
I agree, tubes are by far better. I'll never own another tubeless system. Spokes leak, wheels can bend, and not all tires 'seat' the same. Some seat well, some don't.
But I'll disagree on the time to fix a flat. I'd pay money to see someone take the sensor off, axle loose, blocks out, axle out, tire off on side of the rim, tube out, new tube in, tire ironed back on, axle in, chain on, blocks in, adjusters back tight and axle nut torqued down. I've never done it faster than 20or25minutes, and that when everything went perfect. Most of the time it's a 30-35 deal. Front I can do in 15min, but who ever gets a flat front
@@PisgahGravelProject - regarding the time - I have a much simpler bike, undo the axel nut push the axel out and take the tyre and wheel out. Simple.
@@PisgahGravelProject you still forgot to put air in the tire
Nice review, definitely do more with Mossy. A vstrom 800 re I reckon I'd go for, based on the fact I wouldn't be doing a whole lot of off road and it has tubeless wheels. I still think the vstrom 650 looks better than the 800. A similar test with Mossy and yourself on the vstrom 650 and 800re , a big difference on paper , but I'd like to know the real world comparison, just an idea 🙂
I have T700, went to the ABR Festival and never felt the need to try the other bikes. Loaded right up with luggage and tent good road manners and great off road. I've had a K9 650 which is a superb more 'softer' bike.
Bit of a willy waving show anyway 😅
Always good to see Mossy. The T7 needs tubeless tyres, then it would be the perfect bike. Nick
Having reviewed both... the best all rounder is the Suzuki but the Tenere is significantly better off road and has better tyres as standard. The standard tyre on the Suzuki is not grippy enough off road.
I haven't had a go on the Tenere, but the V strom is superb. Its a tall bike, its perfect for me, i'm 6"4. So comfy & loads of fun.
Totally agree with the tubes it's a pity they don't give the buyer a choice from new so that way there would be a lot out there both tubed and tubeless, so people like me could look through the websites for a nice 2nd hand t7 without tubes😊,thanks lads.
I bet you buy a fire blade this year😂 .mossy is an instant thums up great fun lads.
Great vid... I'm still undecided whether to upgrade my KTM 390 ADV to a Tenere or not.
Thinking of "chopping " my mt10sp in for a tenere, tried the world raid and that tank makes it as wide as it is long! Now im tempted by the explore version as you get tft and better suspension. And you also get lower seat height for those shorter people. Chopsy do you think they are fun enough on the road to be your only bike....or do i still need a sport bike to scratch that itch.?
Lamb chops, with Gregorio sauce and a Mossy 'side dish'....
Love Mossy he is great 👍
Interesting video. But an incorrect reference was made to the 'original Ténéré'. That was, in fact, the XT 600ZL Ténéré, released in the early eighties. Equipped with a 30 litre fuel tank, it was an ideal bike for me in Tanzania, where sometimes there was no petrol available for weeks on end, and it was often better to ride parallel to the roads rather than on them.
Hi, nice.comparission 👍, see you riding with that adventure helmet on the tenere, does this maye make a improve the windbuffering on the tenere ? ✌️🌞 Greetz Alexander
No it makes things considerably worse 😄 bigger screen needed if your going to be doing high speed stuff
@@LambChopRides ah even worser 😅, hmmph 🥴
Some brand.. make a versatile but very expensive
The ONLY reason why I would never buy one of theses bikes is TUBED TYRES. Great VID CHOPSY and co. 👍👍👍
I’ve always liked the Tenere but being 5’8’’ tall I felt slightly intimidated by the seat height when I sat on it at the dealership, so much so I declined the offer of a test ride. Now seeing your friend riding it with such confidence has made me think again. Do you mind if I ask how tall he is?
Hey John this seems fitting. I finally got to old for the 07 fireblade and sold it and got a vstrom. And I really thort id still be crying about selling the blade but for real I can't belive I didn't do it sooner I have a gs 1250 as well while I had the blade but man im in love with my vstrom its 2014 so I've added a abs switch and the no crusiecontrol be let done compared to gs but apart from that the motor with a aftermarket can is a pure dream compared to the horrible noises the gs make. Loving it. Ps still go the 99 blade out in the back shed but 😂 can't go full bladeless lol had that blade since 17yrs old I turn 38 last weekend one day ill restore her. Anyways long comment but yer u guys should now stick some road tyres on and run the twistys with those 2 bikes. I run a 50/50 trailmax mission and even thats a killer on the twisty but would love to see what these bikes now compared like with road 6 or dunlop version on them ;)
Limited offerings in a 90/90/21 shame they don't do a road 6 in that size
Yeah good idea and thanks for the comment 👍
Hi John, How is Vstrom 800DE for on road normal touring with pillion rider to munch miles and other travel accessories like saddle bag, top box, tank bag etc ? is it comfortable ?
More Mossey!!!!
My local has a brand new de in grey for 8500 you don’t often get them discounts with yam or Honda
Enjoyed the comparison, like the looks of the Yamaha over the Suzuki ,
The Suzuki seems to have the gadgets, pity the Yamaha wasn't a bit bigger engine capacity for longer touring, Yamaha for more green lanes over the Suzuki for me ,
❤️🙏 Love from Scotland ❤️🙏
🥰
Good review. I know that emissions regs have meant bigger exhausts so more weight, but 230Kg for a middleweight bike is ridiculously lardy. These kind of bikes should be 200Kg max. The extra weight makes the whole bike a massive PITA both on and off the bike. I’m no off-roader so neither appeal but the RE looks quite nice and a more realistic seat height for a road bike.
Good review but the whole way through I couldn’t help but think…”yea, but I’d still have a Tuareg!” Plus, it has tubless rims 😁
Wonderful! Entertaining and informative, as usual. I’m in Idaho and there are endless miles of maintained U.S. Forest Service roads that you can basically take a passenger car on. More of them than pavement for sure. I’m on Tiger 900. Out here in the American West you really need displacement for the wide open spaces. The Tiger is that step up from the Tenere in that it might not match a KTM on the dirt but does everything in a lovely relaxing manner. If you’re ever bored and don’t know what to do with your money, come check us out.
Sounds amazing!! 👍👍
More Mossy plz
Do u find the tennere extremely flickable , even on highway?
I was also let out of the womb with growth limiting dna and I tried to sit on the tenere when it first come out, i could barely touch the tips of my toes down so had to take it off the radar.
I notice Mossy does a little one sided pre-dismount but how would that function in traffic 🤔
if i see moss on my lawn i hate it!!
on a bike love it!! a true leg-end
I'm thinking of a tenere with supermoto rims as an alternative to the ktm smt
Wouldn't that take sales from the tracer 700
@@chrishart8548 not for me, the tracer is nothing like a supermoto. I love supermoto and have/had a couple but the idea of a supermoto that can sit happily at motorway speeds is ideal to me. Spoked 17's, big brake, down geared etc
