im not struggling too much, im a butcher, collecting manga is a hell of a money pit, i like to get a physical represantation of my fav manga, i like getting the first omnibus and thats it, its more of a decoration, i also like tshirts, stickers, keychains, phonecases
For reference, the reason people dislike SAO isn't because of the concept or anything. As you said, the concept is amazing. It's genuinely genius. The problem is that it just doesn't deliver. SAO had an incredible concept and yet it fumbled the bag by just being the most standard self-insert power fantasy of all time. And what's worse is that the series itself doesn't realize how goofy it is. I don't think there's a problem with self-insert power fantasies in general. They're dumb fun, kind of like anime junk food. That isn't a bad thing. Entertainment is entertainment at the end of the day. SAO's problem is that it doesn't realize it's junk food. And it tries oh-so very hard to be "cool" and "grown up", to the point where it starts talking about genuinely serious topics like SA, incest, and just general trauma, without realizing that it doesn't fit the series whatsoever. The end result is a disjointed mess. At the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with liking it though. You might get laughed at if you tell someone in public, but that's not really a problem. Live your life the way you want.

Nice definitely a money pit but I enjoy just rereading the manga I get if I’m bored

judge and secret are the sequels to doubt it goes doubt then judge then secret so definitely read them in order

SAO is one of my favorite series of all time. A huge reason is like you, the dream to be in a video game world.
Also, could you or someone help me figure out how to collect it??! It’s so confusing to me…
From my understanding each arc more or less as its own set of volumes that’s why it’s a little hard
