    As an “armchair mechanic” always a pleasure watching someone else work! Can’t help wondering if a trip to the sandblaster would have made your life a lot easier? Good video all the same. 👍

      It would have :) but we like to show people how you can do it yourself for a fraction of the costs :)

    love the work...Ive learnt a hell of a lot...never thought about using a needle gun to get into those awkward places. would love a section showing and naming all the different tools and chemicals you use to prime , fill, seal, rustproof and paint as you weld....also a bit on your welder what wire you use .6 .8...
    great work and a real eye opener as to how the professionals tackle the jobs....
    thank you
    Ian

      They've done a couple of vids on the tools and paints they use in the last couple of months its worth a look 👍

      Thanks Ian, we appreciate it! That needle gun is so handy! just gets those hard to reach placed without damaging the metal (unless its super rusty). We have a couple of videos showing our tools and techniques we use:

      We do need to do a vid on our welder too :)
      Thanks again Ian.

    Incredible transformation with that frame!!! You did work with the stretcher to form that curved section piece!! And Im still jealous of that pipe anvil flange thing yall got, it made quick work of those step ins you pressed with the hammer. Great job and I enjoyed the video, although I think I did see you laying down on the job😂

      Dmac, Thank you! its certainly getting there! That shrinker and stretcher are super handy! The pipe certainly did make light work of that shape! there is so much more we can do with it too! I spend alot of time on the floor with these cars haha!

    I'll never tire of these videos, thanks for another good watch! What's the reason for leaving part of the transfer box unpainted?

    Afternoon Lads, I missed the start of this restoration. What ive seen up to now is a lot of soul Destroying Repair work. Does there ever come a time when enuff is enuff and somebody calls the shots on it. Must be costing the earth to repair/restore this. To me this is one of those when miracles take a wee while and the impossible takes a wee tad longer. Later. Excellent work BTW.

      Alot of work has gone into this yes! but its all good fun. Its only really costing a little bit on materials, but a good amount on labour. Thanks so much William!!!!!!

    Hi can you tell me what type of sheet metal do you use for body panels (doors, sills, roof) and for structural parts ? Are those cold rolled sheet metals or hot rolled? Cheers 🍻

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! We use 18 gauge for the non- structural parts and thicker stuff for the structural parts. usually we go the same or thicker than original. And they are cold rolled. Thanks!

    You'd think the designer of that chassis delighted in adding places where water could hide and start things rusting... did he not think people would still want to use it in forty years?

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does seem to have a lot of water catch areas on it! Once we have it all together, we will be spraying it with lots of protective coating :)

    Interesting as always, but I can't follow it when you keep jumping from one task to another and back again. Being critical, I would say that it wasn't a good idea to paint over the gaiters on the drive shafts, and it looks amateur to chase parts over the floor when trying to clean them with the needle gun or angle grinder, just hold them in the vice: it's more efficient and safer. Best wishes.

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi George. Apologies for jumping around, but In our eyes that's a logical way to do the restoration. All gaiters will be replaced once the car is fully back together and we know everything we need. Also parts don't always fit in the vice and sometimes they are such a shape that the vice will not hold them efficiently and they can be launched out (trust me I've had this happen when the wire wheel grabbed the edge and launched a part across the shop). I also chased the part with the needle gun on purpose (whe part where I didn't brace it)
