I saw this live a few days ago.
One of the absolute BEST matchups in years. Gumiho is so creative, and Cure stayed solid right with him.
Vikings: Spent nearly completely to take out Thors and push to base.
Battlecruisers: "Allow us to reintroduce ourselves."

I saw that orbital hit 1 hp, and still, Cure managed to save it. That's skill. xD
Luck. He let it sit for too long, then moved and queued a repair from an SCV, entirely up to the clock whether it made it in time.
If you ever find your battlecruisers getting mobbed by mass viking/liberator/bio, I recommend: Widow Mines! With drilling claws, you can get them down into the ground real damn fast, and they'll clear out Vikings that attempt to ignore your ground-to-air like Thors or Cyclones.
Let me share with you a secret: widow mines have incredibly low targeting priority, because they *don't have a weapon.* So if you bury them down under your battlecruisers, marines will focus the battlecruisers instead of mines, pulling them into a massive splash.

This is an awesome start with the beginning of the video. You can really see how much of a veteran player Gumiho is. He couldn't see what his opponent was doing after surviving the first tank encounter. But he was able to perceive far enough into the future and play on a likely gamble of an outcome. In fact, that first encounter with Cure's tank is when you can bet Gumiho knew that Cure can't fight his current force if the tank dies.
So sick!

I miss the days back in 2015 where SC2 had big tournaments in the US like the WCS premier league, and then the massive world championship at BlizzCon. The awesome series between Hyrda and Polt is a super fond memory of mine. Is any of that even a thing anymore? Are there any Sc2 tournaments in the US at all or is it basically just GSL now? I stopped watching it when LotV released and just kept up with broodwar since its revival.

@@ElkaPME yeah that's true, but I think at that stage BC don't need Yamato to win if they just circle the base Marines can't get them because they can't shoot and move but BCs can.
I know the pros squeeze every drop of DPS out of each of their units, but it seems like pulling units back isn't meta and that fact can just hurt the player sometimes. Pushing up a ramp with a pack of landed vikings all deep in the red just seems like a suicide mission to me. But hey I'm not a pro.
I guess in the moment if you pull anything backwards you are giving up entirely on the push and have to evac all the siege tanks.
Can someone explain to me (genuine question) why Gumiho stopped producing BCs after first 3? he was containing cure for so long, sure he could've gotten like 10 more BCs instead of Helions and Thors. With yamatos and upgrades wouldn't that completely crush the vikings and ravens?
He would've. It's just a case of muscle memory and habit. Tanks good, must make tank in tvt.
mass viking would snipe 1 bc down per volley easily
raven vikings hard counter battlecruisers. Yamatos' are non issue, b/c of the ravens, and vikings can snipe the battlecruisers very easily. If he commited more to bc, he would have been completely wiped. Gumiho started to rebuild the cruisers b/c he noticed cure landed all his vikings, probably intending to sacrifice all of them to push, thus clearing the skies for gumiho once again.

ok cure just proved why he is top 2 terran in the world. despite losing today.
I don’t like that push with grounded weak vikings against the cornered Thors. He knows BCs are flying around and needs those vikings. He had full health tanks that could have went in first and viking backed up. Once the BCs came in to wipe up the 2 vikings, it was over

very messy series, lots of ugly plays and mistakes. cure putting his tanks behind his natural CC in game 2 as if he is not playing a TvT was painful to see. Donating landed vikings fighting against the thors in game 3, my eyes hurt.
That’s what happens when the game is played at this pace. Just look at the in-game replay to see the intensity.

its called sc2 HIGHLIGHT for a reason. They don't upload whole matches where you have to sit through tons of boring moments where nothing is happening. There's other channels for watching entire games..

It’s the Korean commentators you hear in the background. Shouldn’t be that loud though! But yes it’s played in a studio with live audience.
