You need to seal the wood I paint on ply wood and I do gesso first thank you 😊
Hi Clive. I have a wooden piece that I've painted with 3 coats of oil enamel. I'd like to do some stencil designs on this surface. Can I use acrylic for this or should I be using oil paint only? Thanks for all the info! Loved the video 🙂

Clive, thanks for sharing. You said we could paint on anything as long as we use gesso. You said to use 3/4 of gesso, the rest should we mix it with water? Does this also relate to painting on wood?
Don't over thin with water you can use it on wood or you can use a clear gesso it depends on exactly what your doing let me know how your going to paintin the wood thanks Clive

If i sand a pvc pipe to make teh texture rough/matte and then paint acrylic on it, will it stick? or peel off?
You can paint on anything as long as it's not shiny or greasy but as long as it's prep with acrylic automotive undercoat and sealed with clear coat it is possible

Hi Clive i'm not to clear on using watercolor paper, Am I right in thinking as long as i thin my acrylics when painting on watercolor paper. Would I still need to prepare it with gesso or something. sorry to ask but i'm a bit deaf and sometimes even watching video's over again. Some bits just do not sink in with me?
+flatcaps caricature and cartoon practice no need to add gesso on paper water colour paper you can thin down the paint as much as you like but on canvas not more than 45% paper is fine

+CLIVE5ART I have an old two handled saw really old one lol seen alot better days..........I have been wanting to paint on it........still ahve to figure out the steps tho..........i have to start I know with removing all the old rust and rough spots lol after that im lost
+Erinne Kennedy-Dock ok let me help you go to the diy store get a universal primer for metal you can get a water based these days you can the paint directly on to that rough it a little with a scotch bright pad after its painted use a polyurethane varnish gloss or semi gloss or Matt it's up to you varnish both sides to seal in the paint hang and enjoy
