On paper I've balanced the Warbird and Valdore to be about equal, its just the Warbird is precisely the kind of ship the Akira is great at fighting, the Valdore less so. The opposite would have happened if a Galaxy class was used: heavily damaged against a D'Deridex but minor damage against the Valdore
I remember playing this on a crt, I was so devastated when my disk got gouged. (They stopped selling them.) GoG brought it back, I'm modding the hell out of it again.
The Akira is the ultimate T-Cruiser. Pair them with with heavy destroyer or medium cruiser squadrons as heavy torpedo fire support. Smaller ships give them more coverage to evade while reloading.
Usually, going up against a D'Deridex in a smaller ship is attack pattern suicide. The Akira here proved there's always an exception to that rule. The second battle was much more of a nail biter, because the Valdore was top of the line, about a decade after the Akira was launched.
I can't help but think that if you went for the disruptors on the Valdore like on the D'Deridex, the battle would have been won sooner with less damage, still, GREAT battles!!
Maybe, the disruptors on the Valdore are more difficult to hit though. I thought its hull would crumple sooner than it did, hence why I was content to just lob torpedoes at it
And that's the difference between a ship built for vanity and a ship built for war. Romulans learned their Dominion War lesson well. Mogai is a beast. Truth be told I think you underestimated it. You should've gone for the cannons or torpedoes first, like the D'Deridex.
@@ransom182 Her shields aren't that strong and she doesn't have armor. She's basically an attack cruiser. Get in, dump her ordinance, and get out. Boosting the torpedo yield by 25% would make it more realistic.
@@PKPhoenix83 Exactly, a T-Cruiser (or T-Destroyer) design should have weaker shields, save the forward facing, and less phaser coverage, should be fast. Hit and run attacks. Throw torpedoes and evade until reload.
It's a cloaking seige engine. It positions into a favorable orbit or staging area, exploits a weak point, then demands surrender or commences destruction. When confident, a Romulan tend to decloak facing the enemy front. Otherwise, it risks getting the primary weapon ports disabled while it's lumbering about, at which point the commander considers immediate retreat or risk capture, shame, and humiliation. When opposed by an Akira, it calls for reinforcements. It normally won't break the Akira Defenses before the Akira weapons target and break the beak, then it's game over. Valdore weapons might not be do easy to disable decisively, but the ship, itself may be easier to disable. Still a better opponent against an Akira.
The Akria and Valdore class are very closely matched, even with its shields down the Valdore wasn't going down quietly.

Bridge Commander? In 2024? I don't have the equipment to check for chronitons but there HAS to be someone fucking with my timeline 🤩
It's getting pretty popular again, there are multiple youtube channels covering it

That's it. Multiples are putting aside their differences so that you will henceforth be known as the artist "disregardrevising."
Man, I wish my Akira in STO could rapid fire torpedoes like that...

Will be a beast when I implement fighters launching from its hanger decks
That was fun!

Now that was fkn brutal.

@@adamlee2111 Sounds like more testing is needed. Time to find another sacrificial Valdore. 😄
Would it be uncool to have an Akira class with the name "USS Slim Shady NCC-230299" because those ships spit fire.

These Akira torpedos seem a bit weak. It's always for those torpedos you fire with "G".
Yeah the torpedoes should be stronger.
In all honestly i would rather see akira with more phaser strips like in the old res models used back in the 90s.
They could be stronger but I'd say in that case the reload time should be much higher. The Akira is bordering on OP as it is

God damn that warbird got butchered.
