I don't need to explain this to you, since you got the idea of it, but for those who didn't: Jiren states how he fights, using as much power as he needs to take out an opponent while conserving most of his energy. When he's throwing punches at Roshi, he's only using as much power as he thinks is needed to take out Roshi, which don't land because Roshi is using his mock UI. But as soon as Jiren realizes his current level isn't enough, he uses more power to overwhelm Roshi. Which is still a mere fraction of his true power. Roshi isn't god level. He just moves good and was fighting someone that wasn't going to throw out everything just to KO some old man. Had Jiren been going all-out, that shit wouldn't have worked at all on him.

I think there might be more to the Roshi vs Jiren. Goku was said to be known to learn techniques very quick so what I think happened is. Just like how Goku learned the Kamehameha from Roshi, watching Roshi move the way he did finally helped Goku understand and imitate it to perfection. Helping him enter ultra instinct
I never understood how U7 and U6 were the only universes that were truly “twin” universes. None of the others really had anyone similar to their counterparts.
I assume it's because the closeness of the numbers. Every other universe pair gets further and further apart. I imagine universe 1 and 12 are extremely different while 6 and 7 are similar.
There were like a bunch of different universes all together but Zeno got rid of some. I can’t remember if it was just the anime or if the manga stated it or if both the manga and anime stated it but if you add the number up like universes 7 and 6 you get 13 so basically if two universe’s numbers added together to get 13 then they are twin universes.

I'm very conflicted here. In terms of story, the manga did it WAY better, things make sense. But its issue was the fact it was rushed, the anime was able to flesh out the arc more and because of that it had a ton more notable moments. So anime is better. I really feel like a Super redo should be done, combining the story of the manga with the anime. I feel like at times, the anime and manga are one being that was separated.
They absolutely should have a reboot that combines and extends all the sagas in anime and manga. Like properly combining and adapting the battle of gods movie and saga would be amazing maybe even just giving us ssj3 vegito vs beerus, maybe change revival of frieza arc for it to happen later and get new or different mini saga so we get more with god only maybe even going into god ki, just reboot get things perfected and honestly Moro and granola arcs could stay the same and it could be very awesome

Yeah manga Gohan is a different animal. And Roshi hanging with stronger guys is fine. He's arguably the best mortal martial artist in the series. He just isn't physically on the other characters' level. It makes so much more sense for Goku to achieve Ultra Instinct by getting one last lesson from his old master than absorbing a spirit bomb. Thematically it makes more sense too. UI is like a merger of the martial arts focus of Dragon Ball and the power scaling of DBZ.
That's crazy. In the anime the exhibition match was like a sneak peek teaser of the main thing, but in the manga its the complete opposite. The ToP is a toned down version.
I love the changes in top for anime and manga. The changes in top prolong fights and give fighters to shine, while the manga is a realistic way to show fighters getting decimated due to no training or sneaky hax or abilities.
I kinda don't like the whole "Goku's a terrible father" gag that keeps getting pushed because it genuinely doesn't make sense. And for him to "not be there for gohan's birth" is wild considering the only other things he could do at the time was either go get firewood (ie an entire tree) or food (literally any wild animal would not stand a chance). I don't even think he trained at that time. So he very much had to be around at least and that panel has to be a total retcon.
Of course he trained. Piccolo was alive and an enemy, who wasnt killed because Goku wanted a rematch, so he obviously had a training routine. It doesnt mean he wasnt around after Gohan's birth
Chalk it up to toriyama and toyotaro forgot that he was alive then. And tbf, goku wasnt present for gohans adolesence, the most critical developmental stage. Goku isnt a terrible father, but with how little he was present and how long it took for him to understand gohan properly you cant say he was great either.

I think DragonBall Evolution REALLY got to Toriyama even with him being forgetful of what he wrote in series at times. You should watch the what if goku went to beerus's planet. It speaks to the god of destruction aspect you were intrested in and walks in with what if trend on the channel
I think why the anime avoided the destroyer gods battle is because the grand priest ordered them to go all out and it would be very underwhelming to reveal what the gods are capable of that early into the run of the series. As entertaining as the battle between the gods was, it wasn’t any more impressive than your average DB battle. It’s very hard to creatively be able to choreograph a battle between 12 gods and not make it underwhelming or spoil everything prematurely. Better avoid it than even try
I really like the TOP in the Manga and a lot of what they added was great, but they also took a lot away, and overall it feels super rushed, like half of the fighters are eliminated straight away and by the invisible fighters and Kale. The Anime was super long, but I actually think that made it better because characters like Roshi and 18 did a whole lot more
I remember Whis and beerus talking about how he lied to Goku about the 70% thing in order to get him fired up. Idk it feels like beerus has been very consistent. Fans just always want to scale someone
I’d say the Anime does a much better job with its choreography, scale of its fights, and honestly just cool/hype moments. The arena in the manga feels so small and boring. And even though it didn’t make sense the arena in the anime felt massive and capable of holding God level fights while the manga feels like a fight in an empty parking lot. But the manga has overall cleaner narrative 🤷♂️
I know this is annoying af to hear but I understand why people say to “read the manga”. Like ngl I was hoping the manga version was being told rather than what they did. This is all well known that the anime was a bad adaptation to a degree but at least the manga did justice in showing progression. Like ngl the fact you were surprised about Vegeta vs Beerus so early tells me everything I need to know. It’s the same thing with JJK. The manga tells you what’s going on and in the anime you are left on I’ll say it amazing “cliffhangers” but is annoying to hear “what could possibly happen next” or “what is the next goal” when you all don’t read. DBS is a great manga and I’d recommend reading it if you like Dragonball and want to see justice done with the series. Even the best ark in Super by some peoples standards the “black arc” was done better in the manga. Perfect SSJ blue, hakai, explaining how corrupted zamasu appeared, come one now this would have been dope in the anime. The final tournament where everyone else was left at was even better. Please read the manga if you want the better story.
Btw, I know you might not read this, but they skipped over an official (and not well known) manga issue that explains that Android 17 got stronger using the cell jr’s, which apparently survived (maybe bc Gohan didn’t completely destroy them and they ran away? I’m not sure if they explain that.)

Anime Goku plays with his granddaughter Pan and is worried about her disappearance. Manga Goku: Pan who? Then there are scenes in the Anime where Goku congratulates his son’s prowess, even intervenes in that fight with the 3 robot gestalt because he won’t stand there and watch his son be harmed (Manga Goku Acts like the Cell games & Ultimate Gohan never happened). I do see Anime Goku looking better.
My favorite "what IF" fan manga that goes in a different route after the tournament of power arc is "Dragonball Kakumei", evil universe were revived cause the final wish and evil angels/gods came back to wage war to the other universes and goku fought them back and got frozen in time with said universes holding them back and in 2 years everyone else must train to goku's level or beyond to fight them after time returns to goku and these frozen universe that have evil angels and whatnot on their team. Vegeta trains Caulifla's planet thats full of saiyens to be an army to fight in the war, there's a 3hour long youtube video that covers and talks over it if interested

I love the changes in top for anime and manga. The changes in top prolong fights and give fighters to shine, while the manga is a realistic way to show fighters getting decimated due to no training or sneaky hax or abilities.

I kinda don't like the whole "Goku's a terrible father" gag that keeps getting pushed because it genuinely doesn't make sense. And for him to "not be there for gohan's birth" is wild considering the only other things he could do at the time was either go get firewood (ie an entire tree) or food (literally any wild animal would not stand a chance). I don't even think he trained at that time. So he very much had to be around at least and that panel has to be a total retcon.
Of course he trained. Piccolo was alive and an enemy, who wasnt killed because Goku wanted a rematch, so he obviously had a training routine. It doesnt mean he wasnt around after Gohan's birth

Chalk it up to toriyama and toyotaro forgot that he was alive then. And tbf, goku wasnt present for gohans adolesence, the most critical developmental stage. Goku isnt a terrible father, but with how little he was present and how long it took for him to understand gohan properly you cant say he was great either.

I think DragonBall Evolution REALLY got to Toriyama even with him being forgetful of what he wrote in series at times. I think why the anime avoided the destroyer gods battle is because the grand priest ordered them to go all out and it would be very underwhelming to reveal what the gods are capable of that early into the run of the series. As entertaining as the battle between the gods was, it wasn’t any more impressive than your average DB battle. It’s very hard to creatively be able to choreograph a battle between 12 gods and not make it underwhelming or spoil everything prematurely. Better avoid it than even try
Ss2 is treated in the manga like ss3 is in anime. One of them might as well not exist depending on how you view the DB story

I really like the TOP in the Manga and a lot of what they added was great, but they also took a lot away, and overall it feels super rushed, like half of the fighters are eliminated straight away and by the invisible fighters and Kale. The Anime was super long, but I actually think that made it better because characters like Roshi and 18 did a whole lot more

I’d say the Anime does a much better job with its choreography, scale of its fights, and honestly just cool/hype moments. The arena in the manga feels so small and boring. And even though it didn’t make sense the arena in the anime felt massive and capable of holding God level fights while the manga feels like a fight in an empty parking lot. But the manga has overall cleaner narrative 🤷♂️
Both anime and the manga has it's own moments. There's a lot of things in anime that handled better in manga, and vice versa.

I know this is annoying af to hear but I understand why people say to “read the manga”. Like ngl I was hoping the manga version was being told rather than what they did. This is all well known that the anime was a bad adaptation to a degree but at least the manga did justice in showing progression. Like ngl the fact you were surprised about Vegeta vs Beerus so early tells me everything I need to know. It’s the same thing with JJK. The manga tells you what’s going on and in the anime you are left on I’ll say it amazing “cliffhangers” but is annoying to hear “what could possibly happen next” or “what is the next goal” when you all don’t read. DBS is a great manga and I’d recommend reading it if you like Dragonball and want to see justice done with the series. Even the best ark in Super by some peoples standards the “black arc” was done better in the manga. Perfect SSJ blue, hakai, explaining how corrupted zamasu appeared, come one now this would have been dope in the anime. The final tournament where everyone else was left at was even better. Please read the manga if you want the better story.

My favorite "what IF" fan manga that goes in a different route after the tournament of power arc is "Dragonball Kakumei", evil universe were revived cause the final wish and evil angels/gods came back to wage war to the other universes and goku fought them back and got frozen in time with said universes holding them back and in 2 years everyone else must train to goku's level or beyond to fight them after time returns to goku and these frozen universe that have evil angels and whatnot on their team. Vegeta trains Caulifla's planet thats full of saiyens to be an army to fight in the war, there's a 3hour long youtube video that covers and talks over it if interested
The power scaling makes sense if you don't add numbers because we've gotten to the point where we literally cannot fathom their strength cause it's incomprehensible
I feel like a good portion of the fan base views Gohan as just a pure saiyan and refers to him as one (me as well) and forgets that he’s only half and is also 50% HUMAN as well, I always forget that. Which makes his current strength in the manga that much cooler.
