  • This Husqvarna 445 chainsaw hasn't been running its best lately so it's time to clean the carb. See the links below for the parts and tools I used:

    Carb Adjustment Tool:

    *Purchasing from these Amazon affiliate links earns my channel a small commission. Think of it as a tip that doesn't cost you anything. Thanks for the support!

      What's the carb adjustment tool for, I couldn't find it in the video

    • @Mikeattempts

      @@Piccyman1 The high and low speed jets can only be adjusted with a special tool. If your saw runs good then you don't need to worry about adjusting the jets. If not, Husqvarna recommends turning them both all the way in and then out 1.5 turns. Start the saw and adjust as necessary. There are many good videos online that explain how to get them dialed in just right.

    Thank you, great video and lots of detail, it really helped me strip the chainsaw down, clean the carb, and put it back together again. I replaced the gaskets and diaphragm. I think the carb is a ZAMA EL37B C1M so I got the kit for that model and it worked great.

    Fantastic video. Everyone else wants to buy a new carb and replace it you dealt w the real solution. What if you on the job. What do you do???? Wait till next week or whenever the gods of deliverance decides to send you the new carb????? Or do you tear it apart and fix it?? Anyway, thanks for the video it is first rate. By the by is a weed eater basically the same as far as carbs go???

    • @Mikeattempts

      Thanks! Yeah, if you're careful, you don't even need to buy anything, it just takes a little time. Yep, most "small engine" carbs are very similar. I actually did a video cleaning my weed eater carb ( th-cam.com/video/G6noZ99bC4U/w-d-xo.html ) and my mini-tiller carb ( th-cam.com/video/QVYbxnajJd4/w-d-xo.html ) if you'd like the see the differences. :)

    I may ask you if would know why it is so hard when pull the starting rope it has almost injured my harm after so many tries
    The chainsaw is an HUSQVARNA 326

    • @Mikeattempts

      I'm no pro so it's hard to say for sure. Does yours have a little decompression button on the top? This makes it easier to pull and then closes itself once the engine starts. On some gas engines, the ignition coil can be installed backwards which causes a very jerky pull but usually they can only be installed in one position. Something could be bound up in the rope mechanism. Or maybe something is wrong inside the cylinder which is causing excess friction. If you're able to figure it out, let me know!

    Thanks for the tip but I don’t think I’m competent enough to do that without destroying it

    • @Mikeattempts

      That's what I thought the first time I did it, but it all worked out. :) The only things you could really destroy would be the diaphragms or gaskets but rebuilt kits are cheap.

  • @JohnnyButtercuts

    Is this a Walbro or Zama carburetor and which one is better?

    • @Mikeattempts

      I ended up re-using all of the parts, gaskets, and diaphragms so I never did check to see which brand the carb was. I'm no pro but, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with Walbro or Zama. If I needed a replacement, I would go for whichever was easier to find parts for. :)

    • @Mikeattempts

  • @PJBHolden

    Can’t I just use spray carb cleaner without dismantling?

    • @Mikeattempts

      Not really because if it was that easy to flush debris out the carb, the fuel pumping through it while running would keep it clean.
